I've done the clean recently, just personal opinion I think you are removing too much trim unnecessarily, I only removed the 3 plastic clips on the side carpet, pulled it back and managed to get both the fan and filter out to clean
This morning started the warning with consult a dealer bla bla, and after 1 hour of this video and battery unplugged, the warning disappeared, and I think that it added some more range km (I don't know if this is because it got the fuel consumption to 0, because of the battery, or because I cleaned the fan and filter). Thank you!
Thank you! However, it is much more important to clean the net on the back seat! These are located on the side of the door, make sure that they are not covered!
Won’t this be done when you take the car to get serviced? I am looking to purchase this car myself but I don’t know how to maintain my own cars etc so will this be an issue? I normally just get it serviced whenever the service is due.
@@Battery-Powered There is a couple of guides on youtube its getting the car level to ensure correct amount of fluid back in, thats the challenge you need to know your jacking points put it on axle stands. Drain & refill is easy 10mm hex plugs.
My IS300h is just over 7 yrs old , with 30,000 on the clock. I've no idea if the fan has ever been cleaned. Yours didn't look that dirty. I get mine serviced by Lexus, doesn't this come in with a service ? Next time I take it in I shall ask.
I don't think Lexus meant this to be a DIY-er project.... You have to dismantle the rear end of the car!!!! It's a good thing you recorded the dismantling so you can review if there are any parts left over....like there would be if I tried this.
@@Battery-Powered OMG.... that is horrible..... car had to dismantled again!! Certainly glad you processed the video before driving. Hope you have many happy years driving that Lexus. It's in really nice shape.
@@johnhealy4511 Sometimes I think it is merely because : they can. But just like Apple it could be that they want to save money so they do weird stuff. (Apple GLUES in the iPhone battery!) You didn't do the job properly and you are showing it in a wrong way. When you removed the fan you need also to remove the long black pipe which runs into the fan from vehicle cabin. At the beginning of the pipe there is a special net which needs to be hoover/vacuum. And this is much more important than to clean the fan on its own. You should do it every 60000mls.
Why don't they just put a filter somewhere that is easily accessible? Because they want the ability to be able to charge you $1000 for them to do it for you, that's why.

I’ll pin your comment so more people can learn about that short cut . Thank You
would this be the same on an ES 300h?
@@8corymix8I guess it would depend on the placement of the battery.
Very good video! Thank you! Can you make a video on how to check the hybrid battery health?
To check battery health.... take car to dealer.... buy new car and turn in old car for pennies on the dollar. That is what dealer really want, right?

Cleaning the filter definitely helps as the battery will cool better and work optimally

I agree with you
2018 ES300H , I presume pretty much the same procedure?
As a procedure should be the same I’d even imagine that the location is similar..
Did you disconnect the 12-volt battery
Yes
how many miles has your car done to have the filter blocked that much?
It is a used Lexus... so mileage may not be so much a factor ... as how it was cared for by the previous owner(s).
Won’t this be done when you take the car to get serviced? I am looking to purchase this car myself but I don’t know how to maintain my own cars etc so will this be an issue? I normally just get it serviced whenever the service is due.
That will not be taken care of if you were to go to just service the car
I asked them to do it in annual service and it was like 200€ extra. And it was on proper Lexus dealer.
@@AndyGrouch maybe they were considering changing the filter not only cleaning it?
@@Battery-Powered if that's the case then what does the lexus hybrid battery health check include ?
@@istanbul0562 they just check the condition of the battery .. it’s not a service.

Yes . Have a look at the next video

I have not yet. But I have just received the fluid the other day .

Why did they make it so difficult to get to, in the corolla one clip removed in the back seat and you have access to the filter

Surely a Lexus service would do this?

Yep
Why should you do this?
The main reason I did it is to prevent the hybrid battery from overheating

Exactly, i regret not buying a corolla hybrid instead, you have to only remove one clip to get access to the hybrid filter in the corolla
