Rapunzel is more interesting as a heroine, I think because she turned out to be more alive and perhaps 3D played a significant role here, especially since it was something new and thats why many people also liked the cartoon itself more. It is unlikely that racism played any role here, because neither Mulan nor Pocahontas nor Aladdin stopped them from becoming very popular cartoons. The characters there, despite being 2D, are also very lively and their design is well thought out. and what wonderful music there is. I don’t think that The Princess and the Frog is a bad cartoon, but still, in my opinion, it was underdeveloped.

Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Tiana, Moana don't have much spotlight until today for some -racists- reasons. 🤔 Unfortunately I already read or watched brown, latina, asian or black persons attacking Disney live-actions for versions with no white european actress and it's pretty sad like Halle Bailey in Little Mermaid version (I lost some black friendships for support the movie while them wanted a white ginger europe actress calling the picked one ugly) or Snow White soon with a white girl, but a latina one, playing the character, although wait until Moana actress being revealed and she is not an polynesian native, majority will fall in love and don't talk about it. The doll from 20:52 I never saw this here in Brazil even with a lot afro cultures and stories, just the 5 seconds commercial version together other princess commercials like Tangled Rapunzel starring or something, the same happened with Disney Princess and Me by Jakks Pacific and you can see them swapping the black doll for other from second wave.
