SO NOT exaggerating even slightly - of happy - some, recently, and it's gorgeous - Lanegan's done it exceptionally well, made it his own, and (I guess) for shits and gigs, had it remixed by Andrew Weatherall... twice... I don't fucking cry, okay? It's just that Algebraic Functions Don't. Back. Down. (Alternate variables incl. being an addict, in recovery, you know lots of dead friends, they could've been you, etc. et al ad infinitum ad nauseam)
@@cxxxxxl I just heard the news as well... I've been listening to his music all week. Specifically his Bubblegum and Gargoyle albums since they are my favorite. Such a coincidence that he would pass all of a sudden especially now as I got back into his music again... He is such a talented singer, now up there with Kurt Cobain and Chris Cornell and all the other voices of grunge. Tragic loss indeed. Him and his music will continue to live on through us fans.
Best lineup QOTSA ever had, Mark and Nick has to be included. Legendary performance by Mark right here, especially on Hangin Tree..... RIP man, hope you achieved what you wantet...
Lanegan is some ancient spirit that is summoned to provide the song his unearthy characteristics, once fulfilled the task he folds himself to a pair of some cool shades 7:45
I'll never forget when I saw them on this tour and Mark would emerge from the shadows whenever he sang and then drift back into the darkness after. It was dark in that club, but he had his shades on.
Have you read or listened to his memoir at all? I Listened to the audiobook recently (which he read himself and that was so fucking cool). I always said I could listen to him talk all day long. Lol. Anyhow, yeah he found his peace before passing. That part brought me to tears while driving down the road 😊
This is a GREAT video, they were such an amazing touring band back then. I saw them live and they were among the best in Hard Rock or Grunge and I have seen a thousand bands live
Awesome. Thank you. I didn't think I knew about Lanegan or these bands. But I HAVE seen Queens before. With the other red headed guy singing...Josh? They DO have a fantastic harmony. Here is REAL music. And you know someone can sing when it's acoustic. No auto tune there. Backing fakes etc. Just some damn good music.🤘
Their songs remind me of rock from the seventies, in sense that they take us on a journey. I never could imagine I would like this song without the drums, but I do.
You should listen to his audiobook. It is like 11 hours of a voice that will make your forehead grow a beard. Amazing book to check out. When I first bought it I couldn't put it down and read it in 2 sessions, but actually hearing Mark tell the stories is one of the greatest things ever.
I miss Nick in the mix. Lanegan is a God! Even more so his performance has such deep qualities. This was the band in the prime. Working with Grohl was ultra!!! But Joey C fit that role just fine! Hes one of my all time faves! I caught one of his sticks at a DANZIG show
@@michelleanoukcaro5882 He's also manged to keep his band Mondo Generator alive as well and he's been doing solo acoustic sets again of all the material he's sang on. Dude has multiple projects going on all the time. He's hard to keep up with.
Probably (although we cannot be sure...) that would be Shelley Brien, his wife of - 5? 10? 15? - years, but who's been singing with Mark in live performances as far back as you can find them (there's a few songs from a VH1 thing called 'Other Voices' (??) where she's singing Wedding Dress, Hit the City from this same time period) From the limited stuff I've seen on social media, her actual career is as an extremely talented hair/make-up/special effects stylist for film and tv in LA. I just don't get that "I prioritize regularly scheduled personal grooming" vibe from Mark Lanegan, and as a hair stylist myself, I know we can't resist taking the opportunity to make "that guy", who is totally good-looking to begin with, recognizably good-looking 😁
Man nick is so talented. Feel so bad for him. He is such a nice guy. No hate for homme but he wanted to hog the songwriting duties for himself. I tried seeing which album I liked more and found be it bass or songwriting nick was the man. Their later albums are saved only by troy.
that wasn’t the reason. nick had legal problems, attacked josh’s longterm girlfriend, was behaving psychotic during shows like throwing bottles into the audience.
Damn. Josh and Mark singing together sounds so incredible. What a contrast of radness. RIP Mark.
fuck man I just found out about his death from reading his comment, so sad
Lanegan....my all time favorite vocalist bud.
Mark's voice is so good

mark's voice is such a masterpiece

- This song is called...
- *hanging tree* (extra bold)
Holy shit, I had to take a moment when Mark started singing. Jeez . Hit me
The queens at the peak of their power oliveri and lanegan
Nick’s calm voice is underrated. He’s a great screamer but the dude can also sing. Especially this version of Another Love Song and on Autopilot
Yeah I only got into them in the past year and was shocked to find out he sang autopilot, I like all of nicks vocals
@@ryanmacleod8877 agreed, good bassist as well. He played on a few Kyuss records also.
News to me also, love autopilot 👍
Its a shame he was outed from the band because he was allegedly beating his girlfriend. I wouldn't have wanted him in my band if this where true.
It is absolutely underrated. This song really gives me Frank Zappa early Freak Out days vibe
Damn. All these legends together in one room.
God bless you, Mark. Hope you found peace. Miss you, man.

Fine wine. The older this video gets, the more my head explodes.
Dudes look so young. Especially Mark who looks as healthy as ever... This was the best lineup. RIP Mark. We'll miss you.
RIP Mark, hard to believe you are gone. You will be missed.
Mark and Josh harmonizing sounds so natural and right for this band
It's all in the contrast, Josh's smooth tenor and Mark's gravelly baritone.
I was listening to you Mr. Mark today before you pass away.. What a loss.. RIP 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Mark n Joshs voice blend beautifully … RIP
Rock in heaven, Mr. Lanegan. :(

4:09, i would kill for having Mark's everyday voice.
Smoke at least a pack of cigarettes per day and wash them down with Whiskey and you're going to get there

out of their element but always hitting their stride, this group is going to be big
my favorite lineup...
Mark lonegan my herói great guy

This was really cool. I wish I had checked them out more when I was a kid.
right? i'm just getting into them!
4 legends right there, but Josh + Mark 🖤🖤
Am I back in the 90s love the unplugged
Josh played acoustic for one song but everyone else was plugged in throughout.

Kings 👌👌👌👌👌
the bassist is such a huge underatered singing talent.. god his lyrics are so unique like his music.. wow.. i wonder what he s up to right now..
He has a new band with Brant Bjork ex member of kyuss and Bjork's band's solo drummer Ryan Güt, former in 2020 called Stöner, and it's great

Second, third and fourth this, Villains was soft as baby shit.
No edge, no balls, no chest hair.

Better late than never

Besides being kicked out of the band?

Queens was never quit the same once Josh fired Mark and Nick
Mark wasn't fired. He quit on his own to focus on solo stuff.
QUOTSA circa 2002. everyone apart from Dave Grohl.
i love my boy troy, but the guitar on hangin' tree aint doing it for me chief
It’s not the best but it was mixed horribly.
His guitar seems to have no effects at all, sounds really off for sure
This is the most Jim Morrison Mark ever looked.
2 bros
I’m not convinced that QOTSA works acoustically
its not even acoustic its just like they told the drummer to piss off and decided to play quieter
He looks like will Ferrell in the link
"Acoustic".

“ Acoustic”
good, but not really acoustic
"acoustic"
I like Mark, but why he looked upset in the introduction of hanging tree, like a Diva looking for attention😆
Haha! Yeah he always looks miserable during interviews. I think he hates attention. But his songs are the highlight of all the QOTSA albums for me.
