The zoom shifts, the animalistic imagery, Ody stringing the bow and hiding the weapons, the cuts between reality and Antinous’ plans, this animatic is EVERYTHING
This is hands down the best *Hold Them Down* animatic I’ve ever seen. The symbolism with the SA part is so flipping creepy and fits Antonius’s vibe. The intro camera movements are amazing too. It feels like you’re one of the suitors or at least snaking through their ranks, like Ody! Ody’s pop ups through this animatic are amazing. You see him easily string the bow, sneakily stalk the weapons, and sneer at what the suitors are planning. He isn’t sitting in a corner crying at what they are planning. He is scheming, enacting his plan in the shadows, overlooked by the men around him. He is trapping them. And then when the time is right *BAM!* An arrow plants itself in Antinous’s throat. Their leader is on the floor, seizing, drowning in a pool of his own dirty blood. Everyone looks to where the arrow came from, and horror blooms on their face when they see Odysseus, the Old King, ruler of Ithaca, known champion of Athena, veteran of the Trojan war, missing for two decades, clothes stained with gold, eyes painted red, an aura of bloodlust oozes from him. In his hands he wields the bow-his bow. The one no one could string. On his back is a quiver filled with easily 100 arrows, one for each of you. By his side you see his sword, somehow, glowing red like his eyes. The blood drains from your face as you hurriedly pat your sides, your sword is gone from your scabbard and daggers aren’t in their sheaths. You look around to see your fellow suitors panic and feel for their missing axes, grab for spears and shields that aren’t there, look around in despair to find any weapon someone left lying around, only to see even the knives and forks are gone. The Old King is speaking, yelling, monologuing, but you can’t hear him over the panic around you. Then, the shadows seem to swallow him, and then lights go out. And everyone scatters, running for their freedom, but in actuality, charging towards their graves.
This song impresses me so much on so many levels. When I first heard the lyrics on tiktok, I was disgusted. And yet, it's also just a really good villain song. Like this song is so eerily catchy and hummable, drips with pure evil villainous disgustingness, and also makes me feel sick and revolted all in one song? That is masterful writing. Why is this villain song so damn catchy and I find myself singing it to myself repeatedly. Truly amazing.
You put my exact thoughts into words. As someone whose favorite Disney song is Hellfire (it’s not even close) there’s something so sinister and catchy about this song. The delivery of the song absolutely sells it to me to where it easily became a top song for me.
What I haven’t seen anyone else notice is that the “Where in the hell is our pride and our rage? Channel the fire inside your soul” Is a call back to ody in the horse
It was the transitions and fluid movements that did it for me. From 0:11 I knew it was going to be good, but damn! Timing the stomping and fist banging to the beat? Incredible! Chef’s kiss all around!
This animatic is AMAZING! As someone who shoots archery I'm happy to say that that is actually how you string a recurve bow. Love the detail of him just sneaking around while the suitors are completely oblivious lol
2:16 holy crap-this part is absolutely incredible the attention to detail with them crushing the flower petals (referencing-the SA) and how the suitors all scrabble to get a piece of the crumpled up petals; (“Share her spoils.”) this is so amazing i love how you drew antinous-also ive never seen the way you animated the intro in any animatic before. also odysseus grabbing the bow after antinous throws it, and of course i can’t forget hiding the weapons is perfect. SIDE NOTE i also love the way you drew telemachus’ scene while antinous sings “While the boy gets bolder” i know a lot of what i said has already been said but this is an absolutely amazing and gorgeous animatic.
someone said the violin here (2:29) represents penelope's screams and im now forever scarred. you can hear it in the bg, really sheer. this would mean her screams would be like music to antinous ears and i-
Yes, but being a good king also requires compassion and kindness to your people, men and women. He definitely wouldn't be good at that. Especially with women, but with men as well.
The deflowering symbolising the SA is horrifying but such an amazing detail at the same time But seriously this is the best hold them down animatic yet
Ohhhh love this! The wolves around Telemachus first as they fear him and then getting picked apart by carrion birds and Antonius throwing the bow away, leaving Odysseus free to pick it up and easily restring which no one notices him do of course!! And he hides the weapons while no one is looking and I LOVE seeing him so angry but then pulling himself back to hide the weapons before making the final shot. Incredible animatic! Thanks so much for making and posting it!
"The Queen will have no one-" Meanwhile Ody's *right there*! 2:07 I love seeing Ody in the background!! I like how Antinuos practically throws the bow into Ody's hands 0:57 😂 Amazing animatic!
Love the flashes between Antinous's present actions at the feast and his plans for the prince and queen. Cutting the food to mimick cutting Telemachus's body up, ugh, he looks both charming and vicious in that moment, convincing these men to commit atrocities like it's all a good time.
This is my favorite animation for specifically Antinous because of just how expressive he is and how much he's absolutely chewing the scenery around him. It's great.
I've probably seen a good dozen animatics of this song by now, and this one takes the cake by far. This is amazing, I have no words, just the detail in everything. Odysseus stringing the bow, taking the weapons, listening to everything they're celebrating too. Every expression and symbolism you used for Penelope and Telemachus. The motions at the beginning, making everything feel so alive. Thank you so much ❤️💕💕💕
the choregraphy! the camera work! the lighting with the torch flame! I love this so much. And you thread the needle of the suitors planning their assault on Penelope, both showing and not showing their intent. all the applause, here's your flowers, take a bow. You earned it.
Genuinely one of the best epic animatics I’ve watched, and I’ve been following epic for like 2 years The movement?? The wolf symbolism for Telemachus vs snake and crows for the suitors? And getting to watch Ody prepare for the slaughter? Amazing This made my day, I hope you enjoyed making it as much as we did watching it!
This is for sure my favorite Hold Them Down animatic so far! The way you show Odysseus working in the background, stringing the bow and hiding their weapons, and his face of disgust when Antinous starts to sing about Penelope- it's all chefs kiss. PENELOPE BEING A DOLL "PUPTEERED" AND ANTINOUS BEING A SNAKE!!! THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!! KEEP IT UP!✨
I seriously love this piece/your portrayal of the scene so much. Really awesome dynamic poses, and despite it being an animatic the camera movement and cadence of the key frames really gives the characters life. Particular shoutout to the way you drew Antinous; his stance is on point, the tabletop speech is a really cool and fitting way to show the scene. Bravo!

OH MY GOD, this animatic was PERFECT, exactly what I was envisioning when hearing the song! What an incredibly good job, thank you for making this! (except i wanted the shot to be through the axes but it was still amazing)
I love the opening where the camera is sifting through the crowd, it’s so smooth and fluid. Also the scene transitions are so good at leading into the next.
Your use of moment is absolutely SPECTACULAR. I love Antinous' chair tip table step-off. And the cut with the food parallel is just so gross it's perfect. And I appreciate your tasteful(?) use of visuals for Penelope's portion, it is both incredibly artistic and poignant without taking away from the horror of the content, but also allowing the visual to be enjoyed instead of feeling the need to completely withdraw from the song. A+, this is amazing.

And then when the time is right *BAM!*
An arrow plants itself in Antinous’s throat.
Sorry if this is too much, i started typing and couldn’t stop.
@@Eeliphant1 no please, I enjoyed reading that a loooot
This description is so well worded...it literally captured all my feelings about this animatic holy crap ❤
@@official-orange-art Thank you so much. 😊
@@nottknormal Thank you so much. 😊
2:08
"The queen will have no one to stop us-"
I am loving the dramatic irony of having ody just stringing the bow as they say that. Peak
SIDE NOTE i also love the way you drew telemachus’ scene while antinous sings “While the boy gets bolder”
i know a lot of what i said has already been said but this is an absolutely amazing and gorgeous animatic.
0:56 Odyssey is like "Hey! That my bow, don't do that" >:(
The way the hands reach up and overwhelm each other grabbing at 2:21 is just inspired! Such a visceral image.
i love the way ody just bends the bow simply like is a trick that only him and his wife knew,is not brute force,is finesse
someone said the violin here (2:29) represents penelope's screams and im now forever scarred. you can hear it in the bg, really sheer. this would mean her screams would be like music to antinous ears and i-
HOLY SHIT THE SYMBOLIAM FOR THE PENELOPE PART IS INCREDIBLE!
Antinous would actually be a good king of his own messed up kingdom. He’s absurdly good at leading people and convincing people things.
Well when you appeal to the baser nature of Men, even a fool can be declared king.
Yes, but being a good king also requires compassion and kindness to your people, men and women. He definitely wouldn't be good at that. Especially with women, but with men as well.
the shot of the axes is cleannn this is so good!!
Love the wolf imagery with "The boy gets bolder" For so many reasons
This might be the BEST Hold Them Down animatic I’ve ever seen❤❤❤❤
The deflowering symbolising the SA is horrifying but such an amazing detail at the same time
But seriously this is the best hold them down animatic yet
Ohhhh love this! The wolves around Telemachus first as they fear him and then getting picked apart by carrion birds and Antonius throwing the bow away, leaving Odysseus free to pick it up and easily restring which no one notices him do of course!! And he hides the weapons while no one is looking and I LOVE seeing him so angry but then pulling himself back to hide the weapons before making the final shot. Incredible animatic! Thanks so much for making and posting it!
He'll: Hold em down till their hearts stop beating. Hold em down till their will is broken. Hold em down so they never think to try again.
1:49 gave me literal chills... and the whole "hold her down" verse is fucking masterful
Ah I see you put RIP Antinous. Rest in Pain, I like it!
Anyways this is so beautiful. I love the poses, and the animation parts?? Absolutely gorgeous
dude, the symbolism and visuils. Telemachus' esp? From athena on his should to a wolf's corpse. Amazing. The cameras movements are so cool too omg.
Oh, the perspective is FANTASTIC in this one! I adore your art style SO MUCH - this is my favorite animatic of this song already. Not even CLOSE 👏👏
Oooooh gods, I love the way you can see Odysseus slowly planning and plotting from the sidelines as his fury builds. Such a good addition
I've loved this since I saw the snippet you shared and the final product doesn't disappoint. Absolutely fantastic job!! 💖
"The Queen will have no one-" Meanwhile Ody's *right there*! 2:07 I love seeing Ody in the background!! I like how Antinuos practically throws the bow into Ody's hands 0:57 😂 Amazing animatic!
Oh my, the "camera" movements is soooo smooth! And I love how it shows different pesperctives from Odysseus and the suitors!
THIS IS SO GOOD!
The perspective!
The draws!
IS THE BEST ANIMATIC OF THE SONG!
Love the flashes between Antinous's present actions at the feast and his plans for the prince and queen. Cutting the food to mimick cutting Telemachus's body up, ugh, he looks both charming and vicious in that moment, convincing these men to commit atrocities like it's all a good time.
This is perfect! I love how dramatic Antinous is, and how the wolf appeared around Telemicus!❤
AND THE FRUIT STRIKES AGAIN.
That opening shot was like next-level animatic stuff.
One of my favorite songs in the Ithaca saga
This is my favorite animation for specifically Antinous because of just how expressive he is and how much he's absolutely chewing the scenery around him. It's great.
I am on my knees BEGGING for "Odysseus"-
Seriously tho, that is a *fantastic* Epic animating for this song, one of the best I've seen!
SAW ODY AT 2:59!!
such a good little detail!
That was some smooth animation. Loved that you showed Odysseus hiding the weapons, he heard enough, his mind was made. The snake!!!!!
I've probably seen a good dozen animatics of this song by now, and this one takes the cake by far. On a sheer technical level, your choreography and use of perspective are leagues above what I expected going into this- you use camera angles, moving shots, tons of incredibly goodness and things that take so much talent and dedication. Kudos to an incredible skill you've cultivated and a wonderful piece of art brought about from it!
You're up in the big three animatics I've seen for 'Hold Them Down'
Big 3? There have been a couple of decent ones but nothing that even comes close to this one, there’s no big 3 just the big 1
@@ezracohen6020 Damn, okay
This was stunning
I love the visuals of how Odysseus was preparing everything for slaughter
aaaah this is soo goooood!!! ody setting up in the background, wolf telemachus, the whole penelope verse, going through the axes!!! amazing 🤩
0:25 if the hooded figure is ody than you are the first person that I’ve seen who has shown ody during the “where is the man who can string this bow”
Edit: also the thing with Odysseus stopping to just here what they plan to do with Penelope
My only an i mean only complaint is not having Odysseus seen thru the axes at the end of the
It is Ody! (about the axes, check descrip lol)
THAT WAS SO GOOD youre such an amazing artist oml i loved loved loved your dangerous animatic its like one of my top 3 fav dangerous animatics and so i subscribed and im so glad i did bc youre so good!!! This is now my fav hold them down animatic!!! I LOVED the perspective zoom in the beginning it looked so cool and then i loved the details like odysseus actually gathering and hiding the weapons i liked you showing what he was doing during this and the glint of his red eyes and also both a thank you and a compliment on artistic skill thank you for being metaphorical during penelopes part bc like💀💀💀when i watched the livestream and saw the very explicit animatics it genuinely made me nauseous and i know thats the point of the song and there were tws but at the same time oml i still always have to mute the audio at that part but i really liked the metaphorical things like the rose and the voodoo doll and the hands and spiderwebs its equally as horrifying with the symbolism but not in your face disgusting its a more subtle horror which i like better and is almost more impactful than straight up nausea ANYWAY great great animatic i loved it a lot!!!
Thank you! I wanted to portray the subject but in a manner what wasn't directly explicit and hopefully is somewhat tasteful (idk if thats the right word here) since the topic and lyrics are so....ya'know...
I'm glad to hear this!
@@official-orange-artlove how you symbolized Penelope as a “doll”. Excellent job. 👍
The imagery of the buzzards ripping at the wolf went so hard!!
It turned out amazing! I really like your Antinous design, he's a dagger guy confirmed
1:31 he did the chair thing!!
1:51 love this visual
The imagery for Penelope's part is chef's kiss. Actually, apply that to every metaphor
And 360 shot to end of course
It will always be satisfying to see Ody killing this mf, literally silencing him in his own song
YAAAAY THANK YOU!
@@official-orange-art I FAT FINGERED SEND INSTEAD OF THE TIME STAMP BUTTON I added some comments
@@zieru LMFAOOOOO I SEE IT NOW.
WE LOVE THE CHAIR THING!!
The metaphors were fun to come up with. >:)))
the 360 KILLLED ME
Drawing the blood and fall at the end was very cathartic lmao /lh
2:08 OMGGGGG ODY STRINGING THE BOWWWWW 😩😩😩😩🫶🫶🫶
2:13 Absolutely loving Ody’s “Excuse me _what the fuck did you just say you were gonna do?”_ face
2:24 _Dear _*_gods,_* this part is so eerie.
Amazing work!
I love this so much you’re really good at planning out actions! The whole scene and using the table as a prop was fantastic
YOUR ART STYLE IS INCREDIBLE AND I LOVE HOW YOU DREW THE ROOM IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! ❤
The voltures destroying the wolf that’s supposed to be Telemachus is such a cool detail
I’m not gonna lie, this is one of the best animatics I’ve seen for and Epic song. Just all the attention to little details, and the interpretations of certain parts and lines, truly incredible. 😊
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!! its so smooth and beautiful and????? AA????? i love how we see ody plotting the entire time too, like him getting the bow and stringing it, hiding the weapons, and just. in the background for so much of it. ugh. this is just so well done!!!! i love your animatics so much omg
Everything i love about this is the stomping to the beat of the song thats riling up the suiters. You see ody grab the thrown bow and then hide the weapons of the suiters! The infamous moment of ody using penelopes challenge to kill antonious to make a point omg just everything is so perfect
This is amazing, I have no words, just the detail in everything. Odysseus stringing the bow, taking the weapons, listening to everything they're celebrating too. Every expression and symbolism you used for Penelope and Telemachus. The motions at the beginning, making everything feel so alive. Thank you so much ❤️💕💕💕
1:03 2;35 really loved how calm odysseus voice in the background if you listen closely
the choregraphy! the camera work! the lighting with the torch flame! I love this so much. And you thread the needle of the suitors planning their assault on Penelope, both showing and not showing their intent. all the applause, here's your flowers, take a bow. You earned it.
Genuinely one of the best epic animatics I’ve watched, and I’ve been following epic for like 2 years
The movement?? The wolf symbolism for Telemachus vs snake and crows for the suitors? And getting to watch Ody prepare for the slaughter? Amazing
This made my day, I hope you enjoyed making it as much as we did watching it!
Love how you draw penelope in this, actually showing she's aged after all this time
Omfg the image of "deflowering" is so brutal. I love it. And the clear Rage in Odys eyes is sooooo intense! Well played Orange omg ❤🎉
The way he dusts himself off in the beginning had my single heart melting ❤️❤️❤️
Simping over a rapist…
That was sooo goood i love so much the camera its so dinamic!
This is for sure my favorite Hold Them Down animatic so far! The way you show Odysseus working in the background, stringing the bow and hiding their weapons, and his face of disgust when Antinous starts to sing about Penelope- it's all chefs kiss. And the beginning when the camera moves through the crowd INSTANTLY mesmerized me. Great work 😊❣️
2:03 THE OCEAN???
Poseidon: Thee shan't be no snitch but I, for I don't want another 600 hundreth strikeeth on my body
Finally someone who can understand and animate the parts very well without making them seem explicit or too boring either. Thank you🫶
I SHOWED MY BROTHER THE WHOLE MUSICAL AN HOUR AGO. gods i wish you uploaded this like an hour earlier because its so good and not sharing it feels CRIMINAL.
AGH this is SO GOOD
The camera angles/movements, the poses, the ART STYLE
And I just love how Ody is scheming behind the scenes
This was friggin EPIC
OMG !!✨✨
THE SMOOTH MOVEMENT AT BEGINNING (Idk how you did it but it's fenomenal)!!!
ODY TAKING THE BOW THEY THREW AWAY!!
TELEMACHUS BEING THE WOLF!!
ODY HIDING THEIR WEAPONS WHILE THEY'RE SINGING!!
Bravo!
THIS GAVE ME CHILLS HOLY DAMN THAT WAS BRILLIANT!!! THE EXPRESSIONS, THE MOVEMENT, THE ART STYLE, EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!
Oh my god this is beyond beautiful! The second where Telemachus has a wolf behind him, and the beginning shoot of the axes, the symbolism of the wolf being eaten by birds, all the camera movements… this is INCREDIBLE and shows the terror of this song
This is actually incredible! I love the detail and the introduction with the axes (I don’t know what the word for it is but it was so cool!) was amazing! And Odysseus planning too. This is definitely one of my favourite animatics for hold them down
This is UNBELIEVABLY well made! This is exactly how I imagined how this song would be animated! Amazing work, keep it up man, you are going places! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I legit said Mamma Mia out loud. It's so fricking good !!! Odysseus doing his things. The smoothness of the movements and the cinematic of the beginning! I really love the stuff you do 💛
Get some rest now ✨
OMG THIS IS MY FAV ANIMATIC OF THIS SONG, UR SO GOOD AT IT !!! ❤❤ The way Antinous really looks devil and the way u show what Odysseus is doing while they talk about their plans, I love it so much !!
I loved everything ! The disgn, the smart transitions, how you managed too softer rp scene but without losing the sens of it, really (even without the axes) it's a A++ I have not that following you now
Oml this was INCREDIBLE! Ody preparing in silence in the background, the way you showed his silent anger when he heard what they were preparing to do to his family, the visuals of Telemachus as the wolf and the image of him pecked at by crows, all the visuals for his downfall and his mother's- Everything about this was so wonderfully made, and not to mention the 3d-2d visuals at the beginning- STUNNING
THE CAMERA MOVEMENTS ARE IMMACULATE I CANT OMG ITS SO YUMMY
Everything about this animatic is SO good - The camera movement, the expressions, the visual clues, the subtle use of color in a few scenes - AH I love it!
Oooh the camera movements through the crowd and the axes was so smooth! I also adore the expressions and movements of Ody in the background throughout the song. You did fantastic!
So many amazing things to highlight from this! you are one of my favorite dangerous animatics so I should have known this was going to be just as good! The whole thing felt like a full on music video/ animation not just an animatic. Everything was so smooth, and the visuals like for telemachus/wolf were beautiful. Love Ody calmly getting his plan together while Anitnus is singing. Great job!
OH MY GOD, this animatic was PERFECT, exactly what I was envisioning when hearing the song!
What an incredibly good job, thank you for making this!
(except i wanted the shot to be through the axes but it was still amazing)
So cold that Antinous is using the same rousing words that Ody does to bring his men together for battle. Fire of the soul.
This is such a great animatic!!!! I love how you depicted the SA, not being graphic but being meaningful an impactful all the same. I also love the addition of Odysseus in the background stringing his bow and taking away the weapons. Great job!!
