As an elite owner, I would say to anyone reading to get the Scuf. After 10 months of use, the left bumper stopped registering. Incredibly disappointed with the elite’s grip as well.

Agreed, I've had so many problems with elite controllers over the last year. Bought a Scuf and have had it for 2 weeks and have been very happy with it. Works well on low deadzones too, haven't had any stick drift as of yet which is a problem that plagues the elite controllers within 3 days of use.

I seem to be cursed with stick drift. I have to replace my controller every 12 months and I'm only a light to moderate gamer. Maybe that's the problem. The most frustrating was the Elite Series 1 which started drifting badly just out of warranty. Ouch. Hall effect controllers need to become the norm. Stick drift is ruining gaming for many people.

Proud owner of 3 elite series, the first one was the ES1 and it does the job, but the real boss is the ES2, and i have two of them, the primary and the secondary, wow it feel so heavy and sturdy, the rubber on it grip like a charm, infinite configuration, many interchangable button, infinite battery (if you charge it right), premium case, premium feel, imho top notch controller for price and durability, the scuf have battery at 210 in 2023....OK.

The Elite Series 2 would be an amazing controller and package deal if only it was more durable. I noticed right out of the box it seemed like some button presses wouldn't register the first press but that wasn't consistant so I didnt think much of it. A little after a year it started to shut off if I clicked the right thumbstick and wouldn't turn back on unless I plugged it in. I tried to contact Microsoft but since it was one month out of warranty they offered me nothing. Also important to note that I'm very particular and careful with my things especially something that was 180 bucks. I also don't game very often and I think I might of only played through about 6 full charges of the battery over the course of the year. The controller looks brand new with no signs of wear even on the thumbsticks. Very disappointing cause I thought the controller would last a lot more than a year of very light minimal use. However I will not buy a scuf that has less features and cost way more either. I'm just gonna stick with my regular standard controller which seems indestructible and cost a third of the price. The paddles on the back of the Elite 2 were cool at first but then I really never used them anyway. The only thing I will actually miss is the adjustable throw on the triggers.

The scuff joy stick is very still and solid feeling and feels Soo accurate, the elite 2 controller joy stick is wiggly right out the box and it makes it hard for me to be pin point accurate.

I have an elite series 2. I’ve had the controller for about 8 months. I noticed straight out the box that the A button sometimes does not register. I’m also now experiencing my RB is hardly registering. I have to press it really hard and in a specific spot on the button to get it to function correctly. Another issue I’ve had is random connection drops. It’ll be randomly in the middle of a game my controller will stop working, but it still says it’s on so I have to reconnect it by holding the pairing button. With all these issues, and not to mention how difficult it is to get a hold of Microsoft since it’s still within warranty. I just bought a scuff controller. I pray that it is better.

Daaaaamn I'm torn. I game on PC and haven't used one of these pro type controllers yet with the paddles and everything. The scuf looks sick, aesthetically and otherwise, but tbh I don't play a lot of shooters anymore. As much as I want to trick out a scuf with custom colors and everything, I should probably save that extra $50 or so. Not to mention the rechargeable battery... I recently upgraded my whole PC so it has bluetooth now, and the rate I've been going through AA batteries is just ridiculous, but finally being able to use wireless on PC is so nice. That's the main reason I even started looking at controllers. Anyway, I think I'll get the eliteS2 for now, and maybe get a scuf later if I feel like it.

On my Elite Series 2 Controller, I rest my ring fingers on the bottom paddles and position my middle fingers slightly above the upper paddles. Would the inside paddles on the Scuf get in the way for me? I know that's a very specific question lol hopefully I explained it well enough.

    • @Gavlaaar88
      @Gavlaaar88  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey Jack . What I’ve found with the Scuff is that the same finger can use both the paddles on one side. I use my middle finger and it sort of rests in between both of them . And I just either flick up , or down.
On whether it would get in the way . I’d have to say that it could . Especially if this is how you are used to playing. I guess it would require a bit of getting used to if you picked one up.

Surprised you did not even talk about the analogs or the d pad which are the biggest major differences between the two controllers especially for competitive gaming. The analogs for the elite controller are heavy and slow to snap back. They will tire out your thumbs over long play periods 4 - 6 hours or more. I have even got some bad cramps that last a week and felt like mild arthritis and I always had the tension on the lowest. If you need full control over the analog and make precision movements and fast jerks, it's a heavy slog. You have to put more pressure on the elite controller than you do on other plastic analogs like PS5, PS4 or Xbox Wireless.
In competitive fighting games you will be using the d pad. The dpads on the elite are the opposite of what you want for a fighting game. They are rigid, and uncomfortable. The classic d pad is serviceable however but you will find it unforgiving after doing your 500th DP motion. It is simply incomparable in the comfort and precision you will get doing the quarter circle motions on the X Box wireless hybrid dpad. If the SCUF's hybrid is anything like the Xbox Wireless (Series X/S) then it is supremely better than a solid metal dpad and exceeds the PS5 dual sense although after some breaking in the DS4 is quite a decent dpad for such games.
This review is missing some very important key discussion points I suggest you add to it because it could use a more technical analyses.

I'm in the market for a new controller due to stick drift on multiple stock controllers.
I'm so glad you highlighted the elites problem of stick drift as it was up there with the eswap.
I just can't get to terms with the price point of the scuf. Saying that it does seem to be more appealing than the elite to me.

The main reason for me to get the Scuf Instinct Pro was the Design and the option to use my own pair of AA Batteries. I only use Premium Lithium AA Batteries wich usually last 60-80 hours wich is absolutely incredible. The build in battery of the Elite is a turn off for me, as that battery wont last 30 hours after a year of use PLUS if it gets defective you"ll need to get it repaired or buy a new controller.

Instinct pro: 6 month warranty. Elite series 2: 1 year warranty. I love the mouse click triggers on the instinct pro but the removable paddles, rechargeable battery, extra accessories, magnetic thumbsticks and d pad, lower price point, and IMO generally sturdier feel of the Elite series 2 are more than enough for me to recommend the latter more.
I've also heard from people that Scufs customer service is terrible and that paired with there warranty sounds frightening

1000 percent. This entire discussion begins and ends with the shelf life of the controllers. Scuf has PLASTIC built in paddles, which break (new or old models) around the 6-8 month mark. Now you have no choice but to buy another 200 plus dollar controller when it happens bc they no longer give you the option to replace them.
