Henoch-Schönlein purpura is the most common vasculitis in childhood. It’s usually triggered by a recent infection resulting in an autoimmune disease involving the abnormal deposition of IgA complexes. Although most cases are self-limiting, long-term complications like chronic kidney disease are important to identify and manage early.

Wow, it’s so crazy to learn about this now that I’m older. Had it as a kid but way worse than described. I was out for an entire summer vacation. Lost about %40 of my body weigh because I couldn’t even drink water without throwing up for almost 4 weeks, got appendicitis from it, and almost had to go on steroids to try and slow the damage it was doing to my body. Amazingly after my church fasted and prayed for me overnight, I was COMPLETELY healed in the morning. I Remember so much of the whole ordeal even at that young age.
