Agree about stray light. But I can't see how this system prevents it as there are huge gaps for filters etc. between the hood and the front element. So unless all filters slots are occupied, the hood does nothing?
I was thinking exactly the same thing! Also, if the sun is behind the camera, it hits your glass filters that are not protected by the hood and it is possible they create a tiny flare or loss of constrast.

You figure that Noton and the film crew were there for 30 minutes, do you? They were making a promotional film and could have been there for hours.
Very impractical. I just block the light with my hand.
