Wonderful videos Emmy! This is so helpful to prepare for my residency in October this year - especially with what the weather will be like. Did you have any negative experiences or can you pass on any tips to make sure it is a positive time?
That's a very important and valid question! Usually for residencies that are fully funded and possibly offer stipends for attending artists, the directors are looking for people that have had positive experiences at residencies already. They want to know you're dedicated to your work, and the way to sort of get into that realm would be to pay for a residency or two. Beyond that, this particular residency is in a stunning landscape that offers inspiration naturally, as well as exposure to French culture! Not to mention, the costs cover your place to stay, food (breakfast and dinner are included and there is always a massive amount of leftovers available for lunch), and drinks on select nights when there are events! Then the final cherry on top (if you needed another) is that you get the directors of this residency as mentors! Beulah even has a night where she gives advice on the business side of the art realm because she owned and ran a successful gallery for years! 🙂
Thank you so much for watching!! It really is such an incredible experience and I highly recommend any artist apply to go! Here is their website with the application link: www.chateauorquevaux.com/
@@MissCakesArt So nice of you Emmy and one important thing your aart is really heart ❤️ touching specially the shoes self portrait..it reminds me of Van Gogh's paintings.
@@MissCakesArt we artists can praise each other, that's all we have... There is a saying that Appreciation is the Soule food for artists. And i also like Van Gogh so much... I'm glad you relate my words. I have done 30 drawings on his life where i travel time to meet him... If u like I'll share it with you 🙂.
What is your recommendation on what supplies to bring as an oil painter ( i also use acrylic) and what your shipping issues was I’m about to go in July and I’d love to get your opinion of what was most useful approach
Oils were what I used, which was a bit of a pain considering I either had to stop painting early so they'd be dry ooorrrr leave everything behind to be shipped out later. You also cannot fly with any solvents, so you would have to buy it there at the art store (IF it's in stock). I would highly suggest you just use acrylics during your time there to get as much work completed as you can!

Hello! Where and how can I apply please?
It looks like the residency is a couple grand. Other than working around other artists, what would you say is the benefit?

Are they accepting artists without a solo show for their art residency?
I believe so! I don't work there, so I couldn't answer for use, but they accept all sorts of artists. :)
did I miss the mention of residency fees?
