    this was really powerful to watch... left me with a strange feeling. as you showed us the sheer height of the cliff and the vast remoteness of the ocean surrounding the island, all i could do was empathise with the thoughts going through the minds of japanese committing suicide. they must have felt such strong regret, or perhaps not as the japanese hold strong the idea of life being a fleeting moment, short-lived and temporary, the old japanese perception of death is greatly different to ours (in the west).
    Thanks for a great video @Freediver HD

    Thanks!

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Welcome man. My fin model is a 2011 model C4 Falcon. This model is already discontinued, the current Flacons for sale very very different. The closest fin C4 offers to what im using now is the Martin Stepanic model, as it has the same dimensions. However is it grossly over priced. Another fin with similar dimensions would be the C4 Skorpio Flame, similar dimensions, but with a slighly different cut.

    • @freediverhd

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will always be diving world wide! For now Saipan is convienent, and its interesting to me, so I have been making these vidos. I will dive world wide, but I need to start planning my finances a little better, cause spending $2500 on a diving trip to some far place, and then earning back $25 on youtube will drive me into bankrupsy. The long term goal of the channel is to be world wide so stay tuned to this channel, there will always be something happening on my channel.

    Are flights to these locations expensive?

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, costs me about $1000 just to get here.... nevermind the hotels and car rental etc are also expensive on these islands.

    • @trucker287
      @trucker287 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just come back from the Marianas, Guam, Saipan, Tinian and Rota. Flights from the UK to Manila and on to the Islands cost me around £1100 + the cost of hotels and car hire, so total around £2000. A lot of money but what price do you put on experience and seeing history? Well worth every penny.

    When travelling with an airline, do you check in your fins, or carry as a hand luggage? If you carry on, how do you get by the ground staff as it's longer than the maximum length of what's allowed?
    Thanks!

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both, depends how im feeling. No ground staff ever gave me any issue. If you want to be double sure, just ask the lady when ur checking in if ur should check ur fins, of if can carry on.

    Your videos are sick... You have inspired me to transition from scuba diving to free diving. I'm looking for the exact same fins you have now, thanks

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My fins are 2011 model - they are not in production anymore, so i think your going to need to find a different brand or fin. The C4 skorpio is the most similar one to what I am currently using, and I think its still in production, but personally i havent used it. My fin is a 19.5cm width, so that is something to look for if u want something close to what I am using currently.

    • @notanxiousanxiety
      @notanxiousanxiety 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Freediver HD do you suggest that I start with a carbon fin or should I go with a mid level fin?

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      if you do a lot of rocky shore dives, plastic fins hold up a lot better, something like a cressie gara professional. For the type of dives you mostly see in this channel, plastics are a bit better. If you planning to do those really deep competition or training type dives, where its all about going up and down a rope for depth, carbon would be a bit more efficient.... though its very hard to measure the real efficiceny gain.

My Question is: when im about to do my last breaths before diving down, im laying on the water surface faced down to the ground, i always sink down when im breathing out and water gets in my snorkel...how do you keep your body on the water surface while breathing out?

  • @Scruffybirdd

    Does anyone know what type of fins those are

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yo. They are 2011 model C4 Falcons. The are not in production anymore - however the current C4 Falcon is similar though not quite the same, and also the Skopio DNA is very similar. The important features is that is will fit the Omer Stingray pocket, and its 19cm wide. If I was buying again to replace my current fins, i would get either one of those 2 models in the medium stiffness.

    • @WaterlineShorts
      @WaterlineShorts 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you equalising? When you dive down the air in your ears gets compressed. You have to blow more air in by blocking your nose and blowing gently into your ears to equalise them.

      I need total control, freedom, and no "dive master" micromanaging me, telling me when my time is up, and telling me what I can or cannot do. I need total creative freedom. Also my travel expenses are already so high, and my income very low, so I cannot be handing out my cash to them to

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I need freedom. Total control. I dont want to be under somebodies supervision. I dont want to be a liability to them. I dont want them telling me what is safe and ok to do and what is not. I dont want to be a paying customer in a group and get taken diving like common tourist. Besides that, these dive companies and small islands are all in syndicate fixing the prices - they are all corroborating with each other.

      Banzai Cliff is a jump into the ocean, folowed by getting slammed by the waves into the rocks and drown, this is 1940's i doubt many could swim well. As for suicide cliff, thats definitly tall enough, its quite scary looking over the edge. Check out these places on wikipedia for more info.

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can hold your breath well within just 1 day - not real training required - whats most important when getting started is just applying the basic skills. Once you know how to do that, its easy to get 3 or 4 minutues, even without training.
