Thanks so much Jim. I appreciate it, and appreciate your support immensely. Happy Holidays to you and yours and I'll see you in 2025. BTW, I'm sure you've got a mile-wide grin today - It's in the teens today in the frozen North!
Mark I am so glad I found your channel. I have learned so much. I recommend you every chance I can. Thank you so much! Peace and happy holidays.. nice tele, too 🙂
Wow is there a lot there..... I feel like I've been given an early Christmas present. As always Sensei Mark thanks! See ya in the school. Have a great Holiday.
I've been playing guitar for 43 years. I've learned to listen to everything because I'll never know it all. I don't mind saying I'm very good....I earned it the hard way 👍
@jeffrowlette Listening is key. I'm a radio DJ for a weekly blues show and work with the "youngsters" on their modern broadcasts too. So much good music out there. I learn more every week!
Mark, I like the term guitar information overload looking at all the lesson contents available in You Tube and other social media. Merry Christmas and Cheers for another interesting video.
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! As someone who sometimes suffers from analysis paralysis, i find the best thing to do is to select an element of interest (probably the thing that caught one’s interest in the first place) & dive in to working with it rather than looking at the whole problem & getting overwhelmed. Just get started! Happy & safe holidays to all!
Happy Holidays! Yes, one bite at a time ... BUT ... savor that bite. Remember it so you can put that taste (assuming you like it) into your other dishes.
Thanks! Happy Holidays to you too! I'm not sure what riff you're talking about. There's not really anything to download on this, as the tab is embedded in the video. But if you tell me what you're trying to download I may be able to help.
MARK, a trick is when you ADD a note to a minor pentatonic scale it becomes a Hexatonic scale, the TRICK is the note you add lets say the M6 you can "outline triads" using the M6 as the tonic to build a triad, or using the M6 as the 3rd to build a triad or using the M6 as the 5th to build a triad. So you have 3 choices to "outline different triads" by thinking which FUNCTION or CHORD TONE the M6 is used in. You can do this for the 9th also using the 9ths as the tonic to build a triad or using the 9th as the 3rd to build a triad or using the 9th as the 5th to build a triad to outline triads inside the minor pentatonic box of the key. You can make a video lesson about this to teach others
@@MarkZabel Yes Joe Bonamassa, Eric Johnson, Chris Duarte, Larry Carlton, Carlos Santana all do this Hexatonic tricks often. Carlos Santana often adds in the 9th and 6th but adds a lot of REST notes to make it sound latin rock. David Gilmour also adds in the 9th to use Hexatonic tricks to outline pentatonic substitutions or color expansions by starting on 3rd or 5th of the pentatonic box instead of starting on the tonic.
@waynegram8907 dude what are you doing?? Did you not read the header nor listen to Mark? Mark was sharing to not be overwhelmed by so many guitar books, theory, scales or guitar math. Then proceeds to inspire us to piecemeal it together and have fun. What did you do? You overcomplicate it with most of us saying 'hexa what now' with a glazed look in our eyes, lol. We know you meant well. Go start your own channel. Folks like me, we'll stay right here with Mark. He talks the way we think. Cheers 🍻. Thanks Mark 🍃
@@billdelunalewis7171 Don't worry so much its not over complicated at all plus Mark will make it very easy for others to understand. Mark will simplify it well for others to understand don't worry he will piecemeal it out for you.
@@waynegram8907 A- we assure you, we're not worried. We're watching the Z-man. B- your comment actually complicated it with theory that he had just told us not to overwhelm ourselves with. C- in the words of Einstein; if you can't explain something to a 5-year-old, you don't understand it yourself. D-yes. Mark, is a man who's really comfortable with guitar. And loves to share how we can get there too. 🍻

Okay. If I can make it interesting to people and put a story around it I could do that. Thanks.
