Great vid. Thanks for documenting everything so well. I'm not a bike guy but I really enjoy your machining and fixture building. That is why I subscribed. Keep up the good work-
I look forward to every of your videos. they are so well made. you are so calm and professional. and the song that played i think starting 9:20 was lovely
Keep doing what your doing!!! i found you on Reddit very early on and have since shared your videos with my entire family. You make amazing things and put your videos together very well!!! Congrats on the 5000 subscribers, here's to another 5000!
Very much enjoying your vids! keep up the good work! maybe look at expanding to Titanium welding for the next bike? Also the URL for this vid made me chuckle!
+jamesdon380 Hahaha that's quite the url! Good catch. Hmm, I don't see titanium in my foreseeable future. Mainly due to cost. Steel has all the strength that I would need and weight is not an issue for me :)
I'm surprised, I thought you would have revelled in the technical difficulties in welding Ti - Still a great project to watch! I'm utterly hooked! Thanks!
Great video, Im starting With the build of my fixture and I doubting how long are the main structures and the small cubes you cut. What are the measures you used for this? Thanks appreciate
Great looking work as usual... I was wondering though... my dream is to build a full suspension frame but at the time I am lacking a mill and lathe, do you (or anyone) think it would be worth my time to build a basic frame first? Any help would be much appreciated.
+MrGangsta9812 It really depends on your comfort zone when trying a new build. I'm pretty comfortable diving in to new builds only because I know I'll mess up and learn from it. If you don't mind messing up, I believe its the fastest way to learn and just go straight after your objective. If you are totally new to frame building, it might be wise to try out something simple first. Just to be sure you like frame building. I did this when I took a short frame building class. After that class, I dove in.
damn, such motivation right there! Nicely done. could that vice block be a little longer on the bottom when it is mostly clamped in such an extreme angle? again, great work, very happy to see a new episode everytime! Hendrik
Do you do all of your planning in drawing form? if so that's amazing. I, for one, would be lost without solidworks as a crutch...Either way congrats on 5000 subs. Any combination of bikes and machining is true eye candy
+Ben Rasich I jump around to liven things up. But if I'm having trouble figuring out a design solution, I'll always jump into 3d and sketch around. Who wants to re-draw stuff 10 times right? :) Thanks for watching!
Great video. I always love to watch your videos. Very high quality!!! Can I ask you a question Are you willing to help other people's bike projects. For example, I'm planning to make a brake adapter(front and rear) for my track bike to commute(home to velodrome), but I don't have any tools or any experience. So if you help other people's projects , it will be interesting. Thank you for consistently uploading videos
+Yeonho Cho Hi, Thanks for watching. I'm happy to help where I can. Sometimes time does not permit but I will try to help whenever possible. Email me at pithybikes@gmail.com and I'll try to help in some way.
Yo, great vid as always chum. Just wondering, what was the purpose of the bit of wire placed in between the aluminium and the vice at 5.21? Is it purely sacrificial to protect the surface finish? Cheers
+BenTheBikerBoy I lold when i saw "chum". Hahaha. The wire is to help when squaring up stock. I saw this on Toms Techniques channle. th-cam.com/video/igfqYZPdQ78/w-d-xo.html Peace.
I have really enjoyed your frame building footage. You are a great film maker. I have been building frames for ten years now and remember going through much of what you are currently facing. Keep up the good work! You have the mind, talent, and patience for this undertaking. You may wish to take a minute and visit my channel (Jared Morris) where i have a cursory look into how i make a frame. Thanks again for your time! Awesome.
+Sean M it's funny you mention it. I just setup ad sense so I can start doing that. It will be good if the channel can stand on its own legs. Even if it's just one leg in the beginning. Thanks for the suggestion!
I don't understand why miter fixtures like this are needed. Can't you just determine the effective angle between the seatstay and the seat tube with the CAD model?
I want to ask a question.why is it that no one explains that if you dont have a certain machine or tool you can use this or that.Im tired of seeing people with lathe machines, drill presses ext......how come i never see old school making of a bike jig or tools to do that job i dont have either of that, but i will manage to get the job done#keepitoldschool
You're right! The tools don't matter. This video can help anyone because it really is the principal behind how the tool holds the parts that is important. You could technically make this fixture with wood if you so please.
How come you don't monetize your videos? Not that I want to see an ad before your video, but my kids watch other kids playing video games here on TH-cam. Some of these kids have become millionaires just from those little ads. ...Just saying.
+Danny Dodge To make it worth the bother, I'd need to get a ton more views :) That day isn't coming any day soon so until then I'd rather not put you guys through the ads. I am thinking about a way to get some support maybe through Patreon where its completely voluntary and wouldn't inhibit my videos with ads. I don't know, still thinking about this stuff..
+Pithy Bikes it's appreciated. I was just thinking that you could probably make a few bucks from your videos. Since I found them, I really enjoy them. Keep the awesome work!!!
5 years later and it's 42.8k subscribers.
Way to go.
I can't believe you guys still keep coming back. ;) Welp, I guess I have no choice than to start making videos again..
Great vid. Thanks for documenting everything so well. I'm not a bike guy but I really enjoy your machining and fixture building. That is why I subscribed. Keep up the good work-
+Jess Neal Thanks! I know what you mean, I watch anything of anything being built ;)
+Jess Neal Same over here. It's like little kids watching tractors.
I noticed what you left out, but I don't blame you. Great build. It is the raod map for my current project!
I look forward to every of your videos. they are so well made. you are so calm and professional. and the song that played i think starting 9:20 was lovely
+hansmustermax88 Thanks for the kind words!
Hi! I watched all the videos on very precise work! Congratulations!
+Botond Kovacs Thanks!
You inspired me to make bicycle frames. You are doing good. from Korea
Excellent. Good luck to you!
fantastic bit of engineering there mate! Love every video so far!
+Lewis Dickenson TY!
Keep doing what your doing!!! i found you on Reddit very early on and have since shared your videos with my entire family. You make amazing things and put your videos together very well!!! Congrats on the 5000 subscribers, here's to another 5000!

+Dylan Rees Thanks and will do!! :D
Very nice!!
+Joey Mesa Thanks man!
Hey great work on this video, I enjoyed seeing you fix the small mistakes! I guess its all trial and error.
+adrian yeung Indeed! Thanks for watching!
Awesome. Love it.

well executed!
+John Chung Thanks!

I don't know from the top of my head. I'll have to look it up. I should document this stuff better..
Great video. Are you planning on doing a [brake] bridge between the seat stays? Anything fancy in mind? Maybe a milled piece instead in tube steel.
+thechosendude No break, this bike will be fixed. But! I will weld a bridge for added strength. Nothing fancy in mind. Just tube :)
Great looking work as usual... I was wondering though... my dream is to build a full suspension frame but at the time I am lacking a mill and lathe, do you (or anyone) think it would be worth my time to build a basic frame first? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello, good job, are the drawings for this fixture available? Thanks
damn, such motivation right there!
Nicely done. could that vice block be a little longer on the bottom when it is mostly clamped in such an extreme angle?
again, great work, very happy to see a new episode everytime!
Hendrik
+hendrikhanso Thanks Hendrick! It could have been a bit longer but I decided to go with 40mm x 40mm to complement the size of the extrusion. :)

+Pithy Bikes Thank you so much. I will send you an email, when I have everything prepared.
+Yeonho Cho There are brake adapters for track bikes already available to buy but it still would be cool to see some custom ones.
+RockShandy Yes I know, but it does not work for my bike. I currently purchasing a new track frame(Anchor carbon) and parts

+Pithy Bikes Ah okay, that makes sense. Thanks for introducing me to Toms Techniques as well, looks like lots of great content on there too!
+BenTheBikerBoy Yeah, Tom is really good at explaining stuff. I like his channel a lot.

what do you do for a living?
+riceburner32 I make video game art.
+Pithy Bikes let's see some!
+riceburner32 Here you go! stevecanniff.blogspot.com/
+Pithy Bikes as a builder/artist myself I take my hat off to you.
At about 5:15 in the video you put what looked like a piece of tig filler rod in your vise and clamped it to the block why is that. What does that do
