      I don’t like co wash either but because now I swim 3x a week, cowash has been a life saver, to not damage my hair. But again, I wash my hair 2x a week (once with shampoo), and keep it simple, so my hair is mostly clean. I couldn’t do it if I didn’t wash it often 😅

    I prefer shape over length as well. My hair was starting to look strange with more length. I just cut my hair and I feel so relieved now that my products won’t go out as quick and wash days are about to be so much faster 😮‍💨🙌🏾

    Food actually does work in the hair, what do you think people used prior to all these formulated products???? Food. Its one thing to say you dont like them or you chose not to use them but to say it doesnt work is flat out incorrect. Black women’s hair thrived in antiquity and also now in certain indigenous cultures in Africa and all they use are natural herbs and food.

      As a retired food diy girlie, I gotta be honest with myself and agree with her. Food is meant to be eaten. While it may work when it's all you've got, it's certainly not ideal in the long run. Sometimes it's just better to trust the chemists who have more of an intricate understanding of the combination of chemicals. I used to be putting mayo and honey, and I was doing too much. Also a lot of these diys don't have a stable shelf life since the average person does not have preservatives in the pantry. So there's risk of bacterial growth which can cause a host of other problems. Herbs on the other hand are great for the natural hair and is far more superior than putting what's meant to be ingested on your scalp.

    I totally enjoyed the video and you’re so right about the hair typing!! I’ve seen the pros & cons of connecting to people via type 4 categories. And in the end it was super exhausting to always justify what hair type I have. But I just wanted to say that the curly girl method is literally about cleansing either with botanical conditioners or sulfate free conditioners, conditioning & styling with non drying gels. It’s a way of being more aware of the ingredients we use with a more green, clean & organic approach. I’ve bought the book and see that the internet has made it something else it isn’t, because it’s just a guideline. ❤️

    I detangle outside the shower when I use leave in conditioner but then again my hair is short and I never detangle in shower. I deep condition once a week and don't ever buy regular conditioner since I only wash once a week.

  • @valentino1646
    @valentino1646 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Dude, I love your videos cos you say what people have just refused to accept. Eat your damn food, do not put it in your hair, you can live without a deep conditioner if you're keeping your hair healthy and moisturised on a regular basis, hell it even cuts down on the time you're spending in the shower. And length does not matter as much as people think it does!!! I have like mid back length hair but I never wear my hair straight anyways it's always in minitwists or minibraids or twist/braid outs. And I like that cos I get my own bob look, when it's out I like it big and fluffy. I admire peoples hair regardless of length, I'm SUCKER for cute fluffy medium length afros. I've reached a point where I just wanna try funky fair styles more than reach tailbone length, as long as it's healthy.
    The only thing I wish I could implement from your tips is using stylers over leave in and oil. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an advocate of the latter, I just live in a place with very little variety of hair products apart from shampoos, conditioners and alcohol based gels 😪. Creams and custards are rare and if found, very expensive for me, so finding alternatives is difficult. The most common 'styler' where I am is grease and yeah no I didn't escape those shackles to move backwards. So yeah until I find sth good enough and pocket friendly, I'll just have to stick with leave in and oil cos the leave-in alone don't be doing enough especially for mini twists and braids as my most common style.

    When I put running water in my hair before detangling my hair , it tangles more no matter how much conditioner, deep conditioner I put in it. I’ve tried your method so many times but it’s a big no for my hair. I need to detangle before drenching my hair in water ! A little bit of water and conditioner section by section!

    I detangle my hair before the shower it takes about 5 min to 🪮 it all out 😅. And….I continue to comb and brush throughout the wash process because I wear breads or cornrows that prevent me from 🪮 when I wash with braids.

    I’m sooooooo glad you touched on using food in the hair, which is absurd, and using rinse out conditioner as a “cowash”…
    While I do use an actual cowash that has actual cleansing ingredients, the thought of rinsing hair with just water & then putting conditioner on top is mind boggling!!! Like whooooooo told y’all to do that!! 😂
    The only thing I disagreed with is not using leave-ins… especially bc I’m a wash and go girl.. I most definitely will put it under a gel bc I can not allow my hair to feel like ramen noodles!!! Lol!!
