Attitude Defined
1.) A settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically reflected in a
person’s behavior.
2.) A position of the body proper to or implying an action or mental state.
3.) The orientation of an aircraft relative to the direction of travel.
Romans 12:1-2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that
you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
I. Truths about our attitude.
1. We choose our attitudes.
2. Attitudes are not caused by people or circumstances.
3. Happiness is a chosen attitude, not a state of being.
4. God rewards good attitudes and disciplines bad attitudes.
James 4:6, 10
“…God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.”
Hebrews 12:7-13
If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father
does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then
you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us,
and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of
spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for
our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the
present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to
those who have been trained by it. Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the
feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated,
but rather be healed.

IV. Four Reasons I Should Choose a Good Attitude
1. A good attitude is Christ-like and it is a good witness to others of my faith in God and the
difference He has made in my life.
Matthew 5:14
You are the light of the world!
2. God knows me, He loves me and He has a good plan for my life.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and
not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
3. God will take my mistakes and the bad things that have happened to me and turn them
around for my good.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who
are the called according to His purpose.
4. God is bigger than my giants and mountains and nothing is impossible for Him.
Luke 18:27
But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
