What I learned from this experience: The best way to make any instructional movie is to play screeching music whenever an important verbal point is bring narrated.

my mom used to make clothes using similar patterns (she's even liscenced to teach it) and it's pretty cool to see a sewing for complete dummies in how they work.

Is it just me, or were a ton of coronet videos from this channel removed? Ones that had long, informative, and funny descriptions? I can't seem to track them down.

I mean, it’s not like today’s fashions could get any uglier.

Can't imagine modern day girls putting on a fashion show to benefit a boys basket ball team!

That girl on the sidewalk looks more depressed than poorly dressed. Hold up the head, step lively, smile a bit, raise the eyes, brush a little bounce into the hair, tuck in the blouse, swing the arms a little, glance at the houses, flowers, etc. Mending needed? Let your needle and thread get busy. Anything that’s dirty, clean it! For leather shoes, wipe with damp, not saturated, rag. Let dry. Follow directions on shoe polish jar. If you have no jar, pub on beeswax with warm cloth. Cover entire leather surface surface. Let dry and cool. Rub with dry flannel cloth until starts to shine. Finish off shine with soft brush or thick velvet. Inexpensive bracelets, necklaces, or earrings go a long way. (Wear only one, not more so as to not look overdone.) Or maybe a colorful thin belt, a casual neck scarf with petite ring or earrings? Can’t afford nice new clothes and can’t sew a new outfit? Let how you carry yourself in your clean old hand-me-downs outshine clothes. (Make-up, if worn at all, should be applied extremely sparingly.) A smart but simple coordinated or matching hat, gloves, and purse with hankie completes the outfit!
Follow fashion trends only as they enhance the looks of the wearer. Women with thin, droopy shoulders will benefit from shoulder pads. Woman with broad, muscular shoulders will look like they play quarterback. Avoid shoulder pads at all costs! No waist? Wear a contrasting wide belt. Too big in the belly? Avoid true waist belts, go for a babydoll, lowline waist, or no waistline. If the dress must have a waistline, use loose pleats without a belt, or a thin belt in a matching or neutral color, not too tight!
Belts, scarves, edging, button covers, small appliqués, even jewelry can be made from hand sewn scraps of cloth. No sewing machines or expensive items needed. Most homes have needle and thread at hand, so no trip to the store is necessary. The same May be said of scissors. If cut short, borrowing from a neighbor may be faster. Just be sure to return the items in a time,y manner.

I can tell you that patterns are not 25 cents anymore. The pattern that I want to make right now is $15.97. I have not seen any pattern that I would want to make selling for less than $4. 🙁
