Every major patch comes with a LOT to fix and playtesting can get really boring, when you just replay the first couple years time and time again. Keeping your mods updated can be a real pain and I have nothing but respect for those that do it.
Absolutely agree, one thing I was actually surprised to see was that the majority of the 200 mods that I'm subscribed to are still up-to-date even to this day!

Another mod that is "dead" is "A calm before the storm". It basically moves the date back to 1933, and it was the first mod with dynamic focus trees that i played. Absolutely amazing, sadly hasn't been updated since my birthday in 2021.

About Palpatine's Gamble; the reason it was more or less abandoned is that all but 1 of the devs moved to a different star wars mod, while the last dev is busy with life.
Yeah that's typical for mods, which is always a shame because Palpatines Gamble has so much untapped potential, nevertheless it's a great mod and I'm happy I can still play it.
Hi there! I used to work on In the Name of the Tsar some years back, being the main person behind the music mod and doing some localisation on the side, as well as brainstorming with the lead dev. I always like it when people remember INOT fondly, and usually try to comment. As you said in the beginning, all of us were spare-time modders. As far as I'm aware most people in our team were either in college/uni or about to enter one. That includes me, having released the music mod in October 2018, my first year of University. That's also why it never received updates from me after 2019, as staring at a screen with text is not that enticing when uni has you... staring at a screen with text all day. Lockdowns and zoom education did not make this any better. The main dev also left INOT behind for personal reasons mostly related to time. If you want to see someone who went on to do bigger things with modding however, our team member and number 2 of the team Lofn went on to make the Germany content for Pax Britannica, so check that out if you haven't yet! Who knows, with my masters about to end, maybe we can pop the hood open and see if we can get her running again :)

The mod I miss thats now dead the most is Dreams of a White Russian Victory, it only overhauls Russia and tbh I didn’t care for the overhaul too much except there was a “hidden” (literally two events that require you to choose the right option) Anastasia Romanov path where the rumor she survived her family’s execution was true and she becomes the new Tsarina with her going on to lead as a benevolent or cruel Tsarina but the events and story behind it was just so interesting to me that I loved playing her path really hope that the mod gets updated eventually or someone redoes the Anastasia path in another mod
Palpatines gamble was actually abandoned because they decided to make another sw mod "Ashes of the Empire" there is also an unofficial remake/sequel of the executor mod that adds the rebels
I used to work as a portrait artist for a Cold war mod called minutes to midnight which was an alternative to the Iron Curtain cold war mod. Sadly it never got a public release.

Genuinely one of the best mods that was abandoned in my opinion was Warloard Era. It took place in Asia in 1919, and focused on China's warlord era from when it starts. It was so insanely fun in a sandbox way, given how every power had the ability to come out on top. One of my most bizarre hoi4 games ever was as the Legation city of Shanghai. I went down the Communist path, created an Anarchist commune, and hung on against the tide of other Warlords until I was able to break out and conquer all of China. The mod had a super unique research tree and since it was focused on such a small region it went FAST. Like, 1 year was about 10-20 minutes. It was abandoned about 2 years ago in favor of a mod called "Autumn Begonia: Under the Auspicious Cloud - A Warlord Era Mod" but that has yet to come out.
Yeah a lot of people have talked about the Warlord Era mod - at this point I will actually play it and check it out for myself. Maybe make another video on it!
I miss Furherreich. I was very pastionate about the setting and even tried to join the team itself to develop France. But sadly, it ran out of steam, only getting a few updates since it's initial release.
Its a submod, but the original Enclave Reborn for Old World Blues, it honestly made Hoi4 feel like a game of stellaris, minus the space part, with how you chose your character/leader, what path you decide to take the Enclave down, and even an Endgame Crisis. I heard the og dev quit for the main mod, but another guy is developing a sort of update addon which is nice
Not really popular but I enjoy the Zombie mods. The one where a really op nation spawns as a result of infection and the world unites against it as it is literally threatening to everything and everyone. The models of zombies instead of generic soldiers overall... I loved it. Miss it so much... :(
Same my guy, there are some revamps of the mods out there but doesn't seem like they do exactly the same as the oldschool infection mod. EIther way good thing they are still around
The doomsday series of zombies and leviathans might suit your needs for something like that tho you can also play as said country and it has unique paths to help or go against the world
Apres mois deluge actually has a reforge version that is expanding on the mod and updating it, as of current the mod is still updating to bba and is expanding on more nations.
I am a friend of a former dev on Palpatine's Gamble, the main reason for the lack of development was that the Lead Dev wouldn't work on the mod, but he also wouldn't cede power, so basically anyone who could do work left and they then went to work on Ashes Of An Empire
i was also in the team but left before its total colapse, from what i remember the same leas Dev was also super racist, said the N word more times i'd like to remember so im glad they got ditched for another mod team
Star wars Executor was updated by the community through Executor Redux, then with BBA release, temporarily abandonned and his now getting worked on again, it will be update soon (and there's also the rebel alliance now in Africa)
I'm not sure if it came after or before "Apres Moi Le Deluge", but "Emperor of the World" was also a cool Napolionic timeline mod. The main vibe was kinda similar between both of them but EotW had a more fractured world, like scotland being independent and Austria being fractured. It was later abandoned due to some technical problems. Kaiser, the mod creator, later created the Red World mod and mantained it until his death, a couple a years ago but people managed to get a fork of the original repository and the mod is still being updated to this day, at least, until last December. A very cool mod with a very unique story, i really recommend you guys to give it a try.
Fatherland by the creator of Red World who sadly passed away was a great mod that died because he simply didn't have the time to update it before his passing. I remember someone trying to make a successor mod but it was pretty bare bones and died relatively quickly.
Always thought mods were kinda gimmicky until I played RT56 on the default settings recently. Was playing as Poland, and due to non historical focuses (Anti-Comintern Pact), the Germans didn’t invade until later. They also didn’t do Sudetenland. I managed to hold off just long enough for the Czechs to walk into Berlin. I was then a part of the Allies, and got involved in all of the random wars they had. I was the first into Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Rio, and Rome. Now it’s 1945, my force is fully mechanized, and Italy declared war on the Allie’s again. I nuked Grenoble, killing 15 Italian infantry divisions. That was my first no-cheats nuke in any game, and I got it as the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. And I still have 11 years of gametime left. I now understand why everyone loves RT56.
You thought mods were gimmicky 0_o!? RT56 is like a very basic mod too, man there's so much excellent content out there, RT56 barely even scratches the surface! You've got everything from complicated and deep logistics and production in Black ICE to Fallout lore in Old World Blues, to excellent total overhauls like Kaiserreich, or Palpatines Gamble! Good thing you enjoyed RT56 because that is a classic. Either way you should definitely try out more mods, RT56 is great but broaden your horizons a bit :D
@@Engeri I did OWB, RT56, Millennium Dawn, and Kaiserreich, but I always either played as minors, or used cheats to modify the scenario to be more interesting (IE Giving the Netherlands Puppet Colonies in natal). I never actually played a full campaign. I knew on some level that they were interesting, but it wasn't until I put time into them all that I realized just how game changing they were

Hi, just found this video and I thought I'd point some stuff out. -Star Wars Executor has a successor mod (Executor Redux) that both works with the current patch and DLC, and new content is actively being developed. -Hearts of Durasteel (released in beta as Palpatine's Gambit) has a successor called Project Valachord launching on May 12. -There's also another Star Wars overhaul mod that just released in alpha on May 5 called Ashes of the Empire. -There's a successor to Apres Moi Le Deluge called Gates of Versailles best of luck

The Napoleon mod has a new, kind of, successor called “The Gates or Versailles” but instead if Napoleon winning the Napoleonic Wars end in a stalemate.
What? I’m honestly just sad right now. I haven’t really been playing HOI4 for the last 2-3 years, and if I did I barely played with big mods. I seriously did not know that these mods weren’t updated anymore. They almost feel like history to me and like they always belong to HOI, like Kaiserreich or OWB, especially mods like In the name of the Tzar or Après moi déluge. And the infection mod was such a big mod when I started playing around 2018. What I’m really surprised about is the Star Wars mod. I actually thought that it was released quite recently, and that I’ve played it not too long ago (turns out it’s been almost two years). I even remember working on a Kamino submod for a bit, until I looked at the mod files and realized that they had already worked on a Kaminoan focus tree, you were just unable to access it in game.
Yeah I feel you man. Just keep in mind you can always play a lot of the legacy mods, either with their legacy versions or rolling the game back. Most of the video content you saw on screen was filmed by rolling the game back, but some was also from other TH-camrs.
The Palpatine's gamble mod is getting a sequel bassicly which sets the date to 4 ABY just after the Battle of Endor, It will be released May 4th I love In name of the Tsar to and well its better than Tommykay's review....Nearly punched a hole through my screen
I wish the 1930's mod was updated, it's so good to be able to set everything up well within a decade before WW2 started, and it allows for much more long term planning in terms of strategy, production and economics. Shame it was abandoned Similarly a similar premise is the calm before the storm mod which takes place in a similar time period with the same premise of before Austrian painter rose to power
red world is a great shout, the one who developed the mod sadly passed away. and even though theres a new one made by the fans it isn't as big as the og one. also there's alot of hate in the mods comment and as of now the mod hasn't been updated since december of 2022 I personally don't agree with the hate because 15 people united to recreate this mod but they're people at the end of the day and have lives to live
There are actually two mods I loved playing that are discontinued. - 1: The Failed Revloution. This was a total conversion mod where the USA lost the Revolutionary War. As a result, Britain is even strong than in our timeline. - 2: TWR: A New Europe. This is actually a submod for (you've gessed it) Thousand Week Reich, which added more content for France. More (and pretty huge content) was also planned for Germany if it had lost its Civil War to the American Intervention. However, they just stopped updating the mod.
My absolute favorite mod to this day is the mod “the fallen angel” & it’s just the original to age of imperialism but 10x better for its focus trees technology & lore
@Engeri From what I can remember of it, it takes place in an alternate timeline but the world still had a WWI/Great War conflict, except it was so horrific and devastating that the world is slowly falling into a new ice age due to the massive amounts of dust and debris launched into the atmosphere by all the nonstop artillery shelling and whatnot. The driving force behind most countries was now to prepare for the inevitable winter or something like that. One of the highlights I can remember was that Mussolini was a Muslim that claimed the sword of Islam.
A lot of the devs for Godspeed came from TNO, and the TNO community used to joke that Godspeed was a retirement home for modders that got burnt out working on TNO
There was this small mod in which you could use political power to buy factories and resources, it was pretty cool since it gave minor nations a better chance to face against majors, but neither that mod not another one that took after that one have been updated for like two years. My minor nations games haven't been as fun since
There are luckily some saving graces with the Infection and Star Wars mods in particular with them being resurrected by the Doomsday Series: Zombies mod (which they have an MD submod for too and the creator made a similar mod but with Kaijus and stuff) and the Star Wars Project Valachord mod which i believe is out and being worked on. Worth mentioning incase anyone is looking for alternatives In regards to the vid, it's sad to hesr about In the name of the Tzar. I loved it more than Kaiserreich and other "What if X won WW1" mods mainly for it's unique setting (of Imperial Russia winning of all people) it sort of strayed from the norm but also gave a familarity that makes it easily approachable
Interesting. There is mod called "Apres Nous Le Deluge" that is remake of old Apres Moi Le Deluge. It sticks to original lore with small changes. Right now is outdated, but people work on it.
The Great Darkness. It didn't get very big and didn't have much content but it was fun. At some point it was taken off the steam workshop and it never returned.
I worked on a mod with focus on the last six months of the war in Europe (I didn’t really decide on a end date; I was thinking either 1949 [start of the cold war] or 1956 [ten years from the start of the mod]). Since I was the only one working on the mod, it has unfortunately dried up. But if anyone’s interested in working with me on it, I would be glad to restart it!
That's awesome, I do hope you can manage to pull in some more people. Maybe set up a workshop page with a sketch of the mod you'd like to create and get a team together?
May not be like a big mod but better equipment or whatever it’s called, the one that updates the names to each countries equipment and the ultimate soundtrack mod I miss(I hope it gets updated soon or maybe it has but haven’t looked)
One mod that i find quite big and interesting that Is quite abandoned Is Rise of Nations, it only gets updated to work in newer Versions but there wasn't content since no step back i belive
GrossDeustcher Bund was a really fun mod to play, added some spice to the vanilla kaiser play that would let you annex the German countries and fight the reds in France and the Soviets but hasn't been updated in a while.
@@mappingshaman5280 going back thorugh it, you are right. I just remember it hitting in 2018, then hearing nothing about it since. I haven't seen it in a ton of places in youtube. It does appear to have made a resurgence looking at the changelogs.
There is actually another Star Wars mod which released recently. Its set during the Rebellion era Idk the name tho. Also a mod from way back in the day was Emperor of the World. Basically Napoleon gets a total victory and his enemies were like all dismantled I think.
My heart got so warm when Metro popped up on screen lmao. I think it'd be cool to see a Metro mod, somehow. I've actually got ideas for it, and some coding skills, but I'm not that good when it comes to modding hoi4
Dankest Hour is my favorite dead mod, it 100% would've survived if it hadn't been integrated into KX. I just want my fucking less wacky kaiserredux back.
There's an updated version of it out called 1984 Redux Version 1.2. I did a full world conquest in it not too long ago as Free Africa, and after 35 years of constant war and killing 280 million enemy soldiers while losing 15 million of my own, I was victorious. Good times.
I loved a mod called Europe 1200 or 1300 idk. It was really easy to trick because of lack of improvement in the divisions but anyways was very fun. The mod even had a economic system. The surprising thing about this is that the dev developed the game alone.
Palpatine's Gambit isn't actually dead. The Devs (or some of them, at least) moved on to work on a new Star Wars HOI4 mod called "Ashes of the Empire." It's based after Palpatine's death instead of during his rule.
I must add that i was surprised not seeing On The Clouds Of Heaven on the list. It was such a cool yet weird mod. I really look forward to see it updated. Also Executor: Redux got an update really recently.
my hoi4 mod that i want to try but wont work is a mod called "French Canada" its basically a mod where napoleon uses french lousiana to invade british canada, never got to try it out
Not sure if you’ve tried it yet but, there’s a new girls und panzer mod that recently was relaunched and the Devs appear to be cracking on it, it’s on the smaller sizes of teams but still a interesting mod to check out
There was a really good mod called "bitter peace" a German rework that was Incrively satisfying to play, france had so much states in that mod that they could compete with the us in factory's, was super fun, but the mod is dead.
I was actually thinking of including this in the list, but ended up scratching it becasue it wasn't a total conversion mod. But yeah that one is a lot of fun!

One of my favourite mods of all time, AEIOU, had a really rocky history. It came out, was abandoned and taken off the steam workshop. Then on April fools some time ago they brought it back and people loved it so they started work on it again. But that ended after the dev team decided to make it a Victoria 3 mod instead. Massive shame considering Vic3 is a steaming pile of crap

Endsieg with NSB supply is literally impossible. And arguably Endsieg dying on the last update before NSB is perfect for replayability.

I am a friend of a former dev on Palpatine's Gamble, the main reason for the lack of development was that the Lead Dev wouldn't work on the mod, but he also wouldn't cede power, so basically anyone who could do work left and they then went to work on Ashes Of An Empire
i was also in the team but left before its total colapse, from what i remember the same leas Dev was also super racist, said the N word more times i'd like to remember so im glad they got ditched for another mod team

Star wars Executor was updated by the community through Executor Redux, then with BBA release, temporarily abandonned and his now getting worked on again, it will be update soon (and there's also the rebel alliance now in Africa)

I'm not sure if it came after or before "Apres Moi Le Deluge", but "Emperor of the World" was also a cool Napolionic timeline mod. The main vibe was kinda similar between both of them but EotW had a more fractured world, like scotland being independent and Austria being fractured. It was later abandoned due to some technical problems.
Kaiser, the mod creator, later created the Red World mod and mantained it until his death, a couple a years ago but people managed to get a fork of the original repository and the mod is still being updated to this day, at least, until last December. A very cool mod with a very unique story, i really recommend you guys to give it a try.

Fatherland by the creator of Red World who sadly passed away was a great mod that died because he simply didn't have the time to update it before his passing. I remember someone trying to make a successor mod but it was pretty bare bones and died relatively quickly.
Always thought mods were kinda gimmicky until I played RT56 on the default settings recently. Was playing as Poland, and due to non historical focuses (Anti-Comintern Pact), the Germans didn’t invade until later. They also didn’t do Sudetenland. I managed to hold off just long enough for the Czechs to walk into Berlin. I was then a part of the Allies, and got involved in all of the random wars they had. I was the first into Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Rio, and Rome. Now it’s 1945, my force is fully mechanized, and Italy declared war on the Allie’s again.
I nuked Grenoble, killing 15 Italian infantry divisions.
That was my first no-cheats nuke in any game, and I got it as the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
And I still have 11 years of gametime left.
I now understand why everyone loves RT56.
You thought mods were gimmicky 0_o!?
RT56 is like a very basic mod too, man there's so much excellent content out there, RT56 barely even scratches the surface! You've got everything from complicated and deep logistics and production in Black ICE to Fallout lore in Old World Blues, to excellent total overhauls like Kaiserreich, or Palpatines Gamble!
Good thing you enjoyed RT56 because that is a classic. Either way you should definitely try out more mods, RT56 is great but broaden your horizons a bit :D
@@Engeri I did OWB, RT56, Millennium Dawn, and Kaiserreich, but I always either played as minors, or used cheats to modify the scenario to be more interesting (IE Giving the Netherlands Puppet Colonies in natal). I never actually played a full campaign. I knew on some level that they were interesting, but it wasn't until I put time into them all that I realized just how game changing they were

Hi, just found this video and I thought I'd point some stuff out.
-Star Wars Executor has a successor mod (Executor Redux) that both works with the current patch and DLC, and new content is actively being developed.
-Hearts of Durasteel (released in beta as Palpatine's Gambit) has a successor called Project Valachord launching on May 12.
-There's also another Star Wars overhaul mod that just released in alpha on May 5 called Ashes of the Empire.
-There's a successor to Apres Moi Le Deluge called Gates of Versailles

The successor for Palpatines' Gamble is indeed a thing, but it is set in the aftermath of the rebellion so I figured it wasn't quite the same - and its a period of Star Wars lore I'm not personally interested in.

The Napoleon mod has a new, kind of, successor called “The Gates or Versailles” but instead if Napoleon winning the Napoleonic Wars end in a stalemate.
I knew Palpatine's Gamble needed to be on here! I loved playing this mod so much before its prevalent death. It's a completely awesome mod.
What? I’m honestly just sad right now. I haven’t really been playing HOI4 for the last 2-3 years, and if I did I barely played with big mods. I seriously did not know that these mods weren’t updated anymore. They almost feel like history to me and like they always belong to HOI, like Kaiserreich or OWB, especially mods like In the name of the Tzar or Après moi déluge. And the infection mod was such a big mod when I started playing around 2018.
What I’m really surprised about is the Star Wars mod. I actually thought that it was released quite recently, and that I’ve played it not too long ago (turns out it’s been almost two years). I even remember working on a Kamino submod for a bit, until I looked at the mod files and realized that they had already worked on a Kaminoan focus tree, you were just unable to access it in game.
Yeah I feel you man. Just keep in mind you can always play a lot of the legacy mods, either with their legacy versions or rolling the game back. Most of the video content you saw on screen was filmed by rolling the game back, but some was also from other TH-camrs.
The Palpatine's gamble mod is getting a sequel bassicly which sets the date to 4 ABY just after the Battle of Endor, It will be released May 4th

“Doomsday Zombies Redux” is an updated version of the zombie mod
I wish the 1930's mod was updated, it's so good to be able to set everything up well within a decade before WW2 started, and it allows for much more long term planning in terms of strategy, production and economics.
Shame it was abandoned
Similarly a similar premise is the calm before the storm mod which takes place in a similar time period with the same premise of before Austrian painter rose to power

red world is a great shout, the one who developed the mod sadly passed away. and even though theres a new one made by the fans it isn't as big as the og one. also there's alot of hate in the mods comment and as of now the mod hasn't been updated since december of 2022
I personally don't agree with the hate because 15 people united to recreate this mod but they're people at the end of the day and have lives to live

One of my favorites was the Rise of Italia mod, recently I've been working on updating it and reuploading it but, it is hard,
There are actually two mods I loved playing that are discontinued.
- 1: The Failed Revloution. This was a total conversion mod where the USA lost the Revolutionary War. As a result, Britain is even strong than in our timeline.
- 2: TWR: A New Europe. This is actually a submod for (you've gessed it) Thousand Week Reich, which added more content for France. More (and pretty huge content) was also planned for Germany if it had lost its Civil War to the American Intervention. However, they just stopped updating the mod.
Yeah i wanted to play france in TWR (which is an amazing mod btw) but the tree was so small. Even Serbia has a bigger one
My absolute favorite mod to this day is the mod “the fallen angel” & it’s just the original to age of imperialism but 10x better for its focus trees technology & lore
the star wars mod that is set in 1936 actually has a redux version that improves it
man i miss the chinese warlord mod, it was such a cool setting but i won't lie the faction mapmode in those matches were painful.

I've been trying to find information on that mod, what it is actually about? The modpage says nothing about it.
@Engeri From what I can remember of it, it takes place in an alternate timeline but the world still had a WWI/Great War conflict, except it was so horrific and devastating that the world is slowly falling into a new ice age due to the massive amounts of dust and debris launched into the atmosphere by all the nonstop artillery shelling and whatnot. The driving force behind most countries was now to prepare for the inevitable winter or something like that. One of the highlights I can remember was that Mussolini was a Muslim that claimed the sword of Islam.
A lot of the devs for Godspeed came from TNO, and the TNO community used to joke that Godspeed was a retirement home for modders that got burnt out working on TNO
I would say the Beautiful States mod is another dead mod, but that's because the developer went on deployment.
There was a successor to that mod but I think that one too has died.
There was this small mod in which you could use political power to buy factories and resources, it was pretty cool since it gave minor nations a better chance to face against majors, but neither that mod not another one that took after that one have been updated for like two years.

There are luckily some saving graces with the Infection and Star Wars mods in particular with them being resurrected by the Doomsday Series: Zombies mod (which they have an MD submod for too and the creator made a similar mod but with Kaijus and stuff) and the Star Wars Project Valachord mod which i believe is out and being worked on.

In regards to the vid, it's sad to hesr about In the name of the Tzar. I loved it more than Kaiserreich and other "What if X won WW1" mods mainly for it's unique setting (of Imperial Russia winning of all people) it sort of strayed from the norm but also gave a familarity that makes it easily approachable

Interesting. There is mod called "Apres Nous Le Deluge" that is remake of old Apres Moi Le Deluge. It sticks to original lore with small changes. Right now is outdated, but people work on it.

I worked on a mod with focus on the last six months of the war in Europe (I didn’t really decide on a end date; I was thinking either 1949 [start of the cold war] or 1956 [ten years from the start of the mod]). Since I was the only one working on the mod, it has unfortunately dried up.
But if anyone’s interested in working with me on it, I would be glad to restart it!

GrossDeustcher Bund was a really fun mod to play, added some spice to the vanilla kaiser play that would let you annex the German countries and fight the reds in France and the Soviets but hasn't been updated in a while.
Cold War Iron Curtain was fun in 2018. I think there were a few successors and other sorts of things, but they never got big.

There is actually another Star Wars mod which released recently. Its set during the Rebellion era Idk the name tho.
Also a mod from way back in the day was Emperor of the World. Basically Napoleon gets a total victory and his enemies were like all dismantled I think.

There's an updated version of it out called 1984 Redux Version 1.2. I did a full world conquest in it not too long ago as Free Africa, and after 35 years of constant war and killing 280 million enemy soldiers while losing 15 million of my own, I was victorious. Good times.

I loved a mod called Europe 1200 or 1300 idk. It was really easy to trick because of lack of improvement in the divisions but anyways was very fun. The mod even had a economic system. The surprising thing about this is that the dev developed the game alone.

Palpatine's Gambit isn't actually dead. The Devs (or some of them, at least) moved on to work on a new Star Wars HOI4 mod called "Ashes of the Empire." It's based after Palpatine's death instead of during his rule.

There was a really good mod called "bitter peace" a German rework that was Incrively satisfying to play, france had so much states in that mod that they could compete with the us in factory's, was super fun, but the mod is dead.

Yeah some of them do have redux/remade versions too - but the OG ones are dead.
Executor was picked up by another modding team. It is even updated with new content.

One of my favourite mods of all time, AEIOU, had a really rocky history. It came out, was abandoned and taken off the steam workshop.
Then on April fools some time ago they brought it back and people loved it so they started work on it again. But that ended after the dev team decided to make it a Victoria 3 mod instead.
Massive shame considering Vic3 is a steaming pile of crap
