People are vastly overthinking the MoonSwatch. They're collectible, affordable and FUN! My favorite thing about my watch obsession is sharing it with my sons. My late father's Datejust is my go to for life events. Hopefully my sons will feel a connection as well. People always ask me why I collect. This is why!

Well said. It's trendy to bash something that's popular. At least people care enough to have an opinion!

I love the story behind your purchase. Only other collectors even notice what's on our wrists. Thats why we should always buy what WE like. I wish my family would get behind my hobby and not be so negative towards it 😢

Hi Dan, Thank you for sharing your story about how you got the MoonSwatch. It reminded me a lot of my late dad, who introduced me to watch collecting. I'm excited to continue the tradition with my daughter. She's only two now, but I can't wait to see how our shared interest will develop.

My watch philosophy has changed over the years, I became burnt out collecting watches over the last 8-9 yrs. Plenty of money spent just trying to satisfy the need for the perfect piece of wrist candy. I’ve began to understand that in striving for the perfect watch your just buying time till you realize it’s not going to happen and as of now it’s definitely not the amount of money or brand name that’s going to make you happy. Thats just a material goal that you think will do it.
I still own a pretty decent collection and don’t care at all about what watches have a status but more just about whatever pieces a fun , functional and right for the occasion. A lot of people probably won’t admit it or maybe they’ve never felt that way but for me now I don’t care about anything other then whether I like it and how it feels. I’ve actually now began to slim down the bunch. Sometimes just getting a few gems is just perfect. Not sure if that makes sense . No caffeine yet

Makes perfect sense. Watch collecting is an emotional experience that we all have our own personal opinions and stories behind. That's what makes it fun!

Nice story. The MoonSwatch Polar lights is beautiful. I like the turquoise color.
Of course you can have a MoonSwatch and buy a luxury and very expensive watch such as a Patek Philippe.

You made a great point of saying the watches should also be factored in decision to buy by how it’s going to make you feel and the fun aspect of the watch. Not every watch in your collection needs to be handed down generation to generation. As far as swatch coming out with more I say to people do you really think they are planing to stop 🤓🤣. Great video I love listening to the story behind the watch. Even a moon Swatch 😅

This is a good perspective, one enthusiasts often overlook. A good watch isn't all about the specs, its the story around it, the feelings it evokes. Thanks for the reminder and for what it's worth, this turquoise colorway is the best of the lot imo.

That’s probably the best watch buying story I have ever heard. Yours, not the insane Asian Family one (I’m Asian BTW). I mean seriously? He couldn’t pay with his American Express Black Card? He had to carry around $100,000 in cash…Anyway. Happy belated Father’s Day to everyone. Again, like I always say, buy what you want and enjoy it.

    • @watchmewithwatches

@@watchmewithwatches It’s an Asian thing. And it’s just a way of showing off. My brother is very wealthy, but when he pays for things, he does it very quietly and makes sure no one notices.

Mate, I’ve owned watches that cost many thousands and watches that cost less than one hundred, and I’ve come to realise that price is totally irrelevant. A good watch is a good watch. End of story.

But, objectively speaking, it's still a plastic watch. You could have found something else in Switzerland which would have ticked all those personal boxes too. A coffee mug might have done it 😅

You love it, good for you, but so does every other enthusiast who loves their own watches no matter its origin.
The rich guy wearing a Swatch? Smart move if you don't want to get beaten to a pulp and robbed of your Patek Philippe.

    • @watchmewithwatches
      @watchmewithwatches  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very true!
Regarding my story, I'm demonstrating how other reviewers and viewers often focus a lot on different aspects of a watches image and perception of ownership. I wanted to show a more positive alternative for contrast.
