Rwanda-Uganda border re-opens after three years of inactivity

The re-opening of the border is set to spark social and economic activities and also benefit the informal cross-border traders who rely on the two Partner States for the supply and market of their goods.
It will also fast-track the operationalization of the Gatuna-Katuna One-Stop Border Post and in turn, reduce the cost of doing business across East Africa.
Only truckers and returning citizens or Rwanda residents have been given the green light to use the Gatuna border post between Rwanda and Uganda - at least for now.

This place has changed so much development of infrastructure is off the charts I remember the last time i crossed this border back in 2014 it was just some narrow roads and poor housing everywhere

Rwanda and Uganda are one country they have coexisted for 100s of years which means people own land and property in both countries will feel the pinch more. As a young boy my neighbours in Uganda where Rwandese. I never even saw a difference until now.
