    You’re using your jar lifter upside down. You’re supposed to hold the black handles and the green rubber part goes around your jar. You’ll find it much easier and you can do it with one hand.

    I will try your recipe. I got allot of free pumpkins so I will make the pumpkin butter.

    I use apple juice or apple cider in place of the water, otherwise it is the same. I also have canned my pumpkin butter and never had any issues with it. Thanks for the video.

    Oh wow this is super interesting, I love pumpkin and making butter looks really doable

      It really is super simple and much much quicker than apple butter, which takes all day.

    Hi, thank you for such a good recipe. I will make it tomorrow. You probably know this and prefer using it the way you do, but your jar holder is upside down. You can only use one hand when it’s the other way. (The green around jars) Have a Great week!!

    question. how shelf stable is this? My research finds you can not safely can pumpkin butter safely. it is to dense. can you share the link that you use to get the info on where this is shelf stable.

      I have not found it necessary to add lemon juice since I am using canned pumpkin, you could always add some if you felt like it. I would not attempt to can fresh pumpkin for safety reasons.

    How long will this last when shelved?

      I keep mine in the basement where it is dark and cool and have opened some that was 18 months old and was still good. Its going to depend on where it is stored and what the conditions are like.

    Are you using cans of pumkin puree or pumpkin pie filling with the sugar already in it?

    How many quarts is your canning ware pot? Were those jars wide mouth half pints?

      it is a 12 quart canner and yes, they are wide mouth half pint jars

    I know this is an older video, but hopefully you'll still see my question. =) I would just like have you clarify what you're using. You said pumpkin pie filling, but then you added pumpkin pie spice. So, is it canned pumpkin, or canned pumpkin pie filling?

      You can use either canned pumpkin or pumpkin pie filling. I like to add additional spices for a richer more enhanced flavor.

    I was told Pumpkin butter can not be canned because of the density issues

      the reason this can be canned is because it is pureed pumpkin from a can and not a fresh pumpkin. I would not recommend trying to can a fresh pumpkin.

      The Frugal Bear / Bear Made Crafts my fresh pumpkin that I roast first and then purée is the same consistency as your butter.

    You need to do a better job of scrapping the sides of your pot.
