I had to put my rescue dog down a few days ago. I had taken her in from my son when they moved years ago. I was just going to keep her a few months, but it turned into years, because I was too attached. She stayed with me and protected me, and was the best dog. She was happy to be where I was and whatever I was doing, much like your Angel. She had a tumor, cutting off her air. Didn’t really know anything was wrong until the day before we went to vet. My heart has broken because I didn’t know anything was wrong. I thought she had slowed down because she was getting older. She just seemed happy and contented. A blessing I am sure. Her name was “Little Bit” because she was a little bit of many breeds. You love on Angel for me, and I miss my dog! Apple cake looks wonderful!!! Thank you for doing these films, they seem to soothe me.
So sorry for your profound loss! It's just heart breaking to lose our fury companions. Please know dogs do not fear the future, they are the keepers of the now,. Your beloved friend, Little Bit lived a loved filled life, take comfort in knowing that you gave her joy and in return she gave what we all long for; unconditional love. You did right by her, I hope you will rest easy in the coming days and weeks knowing how much you two took good care of each other,
So sorry for your loss, we understand so well, we lost our Australian Shepard about 7 years ago. We just can’t see ourselves having another dog, my heart can’t take that sort of loss again. Our prayers go out to you today. God bless you😇😇😇
Sorry too hear about the sad news of your dog,,i can relate to what u had too do, I had to put my cat of sixteen years down, she had a stroke, & was on the verge of loosing her front paw.which was effected do from the stroke she had, her name was crystal, the vet told me to put her down because an infection might spread from the paw to her system, the bone was showing in her arm so her paw was deteriorating,oh God I felt bad, the worst year of my life.2013 bad year, still greave and miss her.
I lost contact with all of my grandparents in my youth due to one intrafamilial conflict or another, now a man and I haven't had contact with any of them for over a decade. Listening to your memories reminds me of my grandad, and seems to fill in the years of stories I've missed out on. Thankyou
Isn’t it wonderful to have a connection to the past? I treasure my memories of family story’s and of course the wonderful recipes that have been passed down through the years. Your tale was wonderful Dale. I always enjoy your sweet cabin.
Dale, what a lovely nostalgic video. It's such a pleasure to watch you in the cabin........you have such a warm, welcoming way about you that 50 minutes seemed like no time at all. Great stuff.
Had to stop what I was doing to fix myself a steeping hot cup of tea, finish some kitchen clean up so I could relax and watch a cabin in the snow video! Made for a very enjoyable time! Thank you Mr. Calder for sharing, loved every minute of it.
love your videos...especially at the cabin with the snow..so cozy.....will put this on again tonight at bedtime...I will imagine I am warm and snug in a cabin..with a snow storm outside and listen to your lovely soothing voice..it always helps me sleep xx
Yay.......I've been waiting for your first snowstorm at the cabin. Thanks for posting Dale. It's always soooooooo relaxing seeing your videos. Blessings my friend!!!!!!
Love, love, love this video. A little bit of everything. Nice and long. Excellent setting. Please do more videos like this Dale. Thank you so much for sharing and keeping your fans wonderfully entertained.
So glad to see a cabin video! The beautiful snowfall covering the trees and bushes was so nice. The history of your parents and the school "marm" was very interesting. Thank You for sharing Dale.
Great another cabin video. You have got to appreciate the previous generations. They were a lot tougher than I am. Have a great day. Stay warm. Best wishes Bob.
A wonderful video. This was so much fun to see. I have missed seeing videos like this, I’m glad winter is back. You make your baking chores look so easy. Thank you for taking the time to put this video together. Darlene and I truly enjoy your workmanship. Have a great weekend. Darlene and Dave. Cheers!
Picture perfect ! As always I enjoy spending time with you in the cabin. Your Angel is the picture of perfect contentment...she is a beautiful blessed dog. Best wishes to you.
Lovely to hear that great laugh. History of your family lovely to hear. How sweet your mom dad and the teacher. Memory living on. I think that boiled cake was a Scottish clootie dumpling in disguise. How nice to hear from you x thanks for sharing in your lovely cabin. Hello Angel. Lovely dog xx. Take care
Hi Dale...hoping you are well. I was so pleased when your posting of your recent cabin video came through. Out of all the videos that you make they are my favourite as they are for so many others. It doesn't seem that long since you were out pottering in the heat of the sun in your garden and now you are covered in snow lol, the side view of the cabin looked beautiful!. Angel looks to be very well too. Thanks again for your videos and for all the hard work you put into them. I enjoy them very much! Stay warm and well!
Dale...This was a great video ! The views of the snow resting on the trees was beautiful....Thanks so much for sharing them...Blessings to you and Angel. :)
Thank you Dale for such an enjoyable video. Every element was wonderful. You are a gifted, and inspirational educator. Thanks for sharing your winter wonderland, and historical photo's.
Thank you for sharing this, Dale. A beautiful video. I grew up in the Niagara region of Ontario and I have lived for thirty years in Southern California. I miss seeing the beauty of a gentle snowstorm but that is all I miss about snow.
I always save your videos for evening watching because your voice and content is more relaxing than a melatonin supplement. Bless you sir. I did the same thing with my first propane tank, embarrassingly refilling it way too soon. I got a second canister and now I just run out, switch over and refill. Pretty sure all that walking helped Ms. Hazel live to nearly 100. Lovely photo of your mother and father, thank you.
Your cozy cabin videos make winter a little more bearable. I'm adding this to the list of Dale Calder recipes I will be making. Every time I see you sample one of your home-baked treats with a cup of tea, I feel compelled to duplicate the experience in my home (alas, no cabin for me). I wish you were my neighbor!
A cabin video ! It was worth the wait:) Dale, this video warmed my heart....the stories, the history, the beauty of the cabin in the snow... precious Angel....love everything about these "cabin" videos. They warm my heart and make me smile. thank you so much:)
Thank you so much for the cabin video! They are the best! Seriously contemplating putting one in my back yard! More, please - all winter long! Very enjoyable!
Watching you at 2AM from Central Alabama. Love all your videos whether they be morning, noon or night. Thank you for sharing! You are always welcome in my house!
Loved this Cabin video Dale, and enjoyed watching you bake and cook. What a gorgeous view from your window. Such a lovely Cabin. Angel is a sweetheart.
Aah, early winter at the cabin. So glad you took us along. Thank you for the stories of time gone by. As a little girl I loved to sit and listen to my grandmother and aunt reminiscence. I miss those days so your stories were a little gift. Thank you. I'm looking forward to trying your Arnie cake. But seeing that we have just had Thanksgiving I have an overload of cake and pies. It will be on my to do list for Christmas. Thank you for sharing. I still miss you musical intro.🎶
Dale, I enjoyed the story of the Arnie Cake and the photo. Such a delightful history lessons. The little children in the photo, are still the same at this age - how wonderful to see your parents and Hazel Calder. I will be making the Arnie Cake this week-end. I think it has been a wonderful life on the island. The snow is beautiful and the berry bush should be on a Christmas Card. What a beautiful life you have and I love Angel. One more thing, I am going to do, is try to get my hands on a PF Ford book. I think my husband may like them, as well. As usual, a great video of you and Angel, in the cabin.
Thank you Dana curiosity got the best of me some of his books are available in print www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=P.F.+Ford
I been having a hectic few days and I thought I'm gonna watch a couple of your videos. You always relax me. Love listening to you your recipes your voice thank you
Hi Dale, good to see you back out in the cabin, thank you so much for sharing some of your winter solitude. The fog horn in the background was so eerie sounding, it must be very relaxing, I wish I lived near the ocean. The Arnie Cake looked great, might have to give that one a try. Take care, Joe
That cookbook is an heirloom treasure! Love the ones passed down through families. And thanks for the new author - always on the lookout for a new mystery author.
i have so missed the cabin.....enjoyed your little story....so nice to see angel....cake looks good.....your morning picture of outside is so awesome....
Thanks Dale, your private time, cooking in your cabin, enjoying the quiet with your dog, with a good book, seem ideal. Thank you for sharing. We we don’t get much snow in central Texas.
Dale Calder is back cooking in the cabin and all is right in the world. I love all your videos, but ones of you and Angel cooking in the cabin seem to be my favorites. The Arnie cake looks delicious. Thank you for sharing your times with us, whether they are in the cabin or not. I always look forward to seeing all your wonderful videos..
Dale! I'm gonna make some Beaver Tails, get my Tim Horton's Mug of tea, sit back, and enjoy your video. Thank you so much for sharing.... I can't wait to watch :-)
How gorgeous the cover thumbnail photo. "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." . A vicarious pleasure for me. Grew up in Australia 🇦🇺. Christmas is summer here ☀️. Love the photo with your mum and dad at school together...and the story accompanying it. Take good care of yourself and precious Angel.
Good to see you back in the cabin. Looks cozy I would love to have a cabin to get away from the crazy times. Your stories remind me of some that my Grandpa used to tell. He was born in 1896 and lived to be 102. He was sharp until he passed away. The Arnie cake looks delicious. The natives here in south Georgia would be frozen if they were there. Us transplants wouldn't be concerned if it was that cold.
Thank you Grant I always think it is funny how cold we feel in early winter when the temperature goes a bit below freezing and the same temperature in January or February is a warm day.
Living in the concrete jungle of Toronto and the never ending traffic and noise 24/7....watching your videos are a balm to my being and a breath of fresh air
Hi Dale. I forgot to say in my last comment on this video(I'm rewatching). It's really nice when you tell the stories about your family from a long time ago. My grandmother used to tell me lots of stories about when she was younger and her mother and father. Too bad things are not simple like that anymore. Also, the hand written recipes from your mom are so nice to have. My mom passed away 2 yrs. ago, and now I have her recipes. They mean a lot. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, Dale, when you said a taste of Christmas, it hit my heart! The aroma of cakes In the kitchen, along with Mince Pies, are a fond memories for me. And now as An older lady, I value those memories and flavors! I also realized, they put Brandy in the mince pies! Lol!
Thank you so much for another one of your wonderful cabin videos! I loved all of it. The Arnie cake turned out great - my mom used to make a cake similar to it - so flavorful. Look like Angel just loves anything you do - she's such a sweet, sweet girl. The view at the end showing your cabin in the morning was just breathtaking! Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing the photo and story of your parents. My dad was educated in his elementary years in such a school. My grandmother, his mother, was a teacher, and I like to think I inherited her gift of teaching and love of learning. You are a great teacher, too, as evidenced by your instructional, informative videos. I like to time travel in my imagination when I see old photos like this. I was wondering what that little girl and boy would think if they could know they would one day have a son, who would be sharing that photo in a cozy cabin on a winter day. They would be amazed at the technology that would make it possible for folks all over the world to know about them.❤️
Made myself some tea to enjoy the vid! What a beautiful life you lead sir, had to laugh at Angel, I think she wanted to be first with the sleeping bag.. what a great companion!!! Enjoyed very much! Thanx
I've been looking forward to a snowy cabin video! The cake looks really good. One of our favorites is a very similar cake, which calls for vegetable oil rather than shortening. The apples are placed in the bottom of the buttered pan with the thick batter spread over the top. It is frosted with a light cream cheese frosting, which is good too. Love the cooking in the cabin videos! Thanks, Dale.
Well, the camera shots of wi,d,ice is a great idea! I hope as you review them, you find amazing things! It is a treat to have you in the cabin again, and with that sweet Angel. Loved the picture of your Mother, and the story about your relative! What memories you have to share. Arnie cake must be delicious! Still love that peeler! I haven’t found one here yet, but still looking. What a sweet little cookbook Dale, which proves our world needs Old School values back in place. Simple and charming wins the day! You have a lovely time in the cabin, I bet the aroma of cake is awesome! Be well, and enjoy your day. ☺️🕊🙏🙋♀️
Thank you, love when you stay at the cabin. I'm always impressed at how well you take care of yourself, Hope your family is relatively near for visits. The area you live in is just beautiful !
I've been enjoying this video so much Dale. I always like watching you bake and eat your meals at the cabin. The snow makes things seem more cozy while you are there. I'm hungry now and I'll take time to eat some breakfast. Just to let you know it is very cold here in Vermont also!
Great video. I enjoy your videos and the fact that it's snowing makes it all the more appealing for me. Semi retired I am working on making a homestead and a cabin down by our beach.
Thank you Dale, I enjoyed this visit to the cabin very much - you shared so much and I enjoyed it all. The snowy cabin looked lovely but it must have been cold filming outside. Thank you and best wishes from a still autumnal England.
I made the Arnie cake today, Dale. Actually, I made two of them, one for my husband’s Aunt too. What a wonderfully moist cake! Thank you for the recipe!
Nice to see another snow storm at the cabin. I always enjoy those. I think seeing snow falling on the evergreens is one of the most beautiful sights ever. Angel, I hope you shared that sleeping bag. :)
I just ordered Slater & Norman, book set 1, thank you. I’m always looking for recommendations and British mysteries are a favorite of mine, both book and film. I was glad to see your video was of the cabin, like many of your viewers, it’s one of my favorites. All the food looks great, the Arnie cake looks simple and delicious. I’d like a bit of whipped cream or ice cream on mine. That Angel is a wonderful companion. Thanks again for sharing a relaxing evening at the cabin.
I love to watch your videos in the morning after I get a good fire going in the cook stove and before I milk the cow. There's something about you that eases my mind. Thank you.
When the world around is cold gray and full of pain, you watch Dale Calder for comfort and hope. Cheers, Mr Calder. God bless.
Thank you
Angel is just the sweetest. I wish I could hug her.
I agree

Thank you for kind words!
I lost contact with all of my grandparents in my youth due to one intrafamilial conflict or another, now a man and I haven't had contact with any of them for over a decade. Listening to your memories reminds me of my grandad, and seems to fill in the years of stories I've missed out on. Thankyou

Those little rose hips are a gift from God to the birds on a cold snowy, blustery day. Such as this day. Such a blessing. And that cake looks so good.

Thank you Peter.
They would be amazed at the technology that would make it possible for folks all over the world to know about them.❤️
Thank you Shelby that was very nice.
I'm enjoying you being at your cabin starting 2018 snow season I'm going to be watching you and angel out there I really love watching.
Thank you Willie.
Wonderful! A perfect way to spend a late Friday evening. Blessings! 👍🤗❤

Looks like you and Angel had a wonderful time in the cabin. The trees are beautiful!
Thank you .
Made myself some tea to enjoy the vid! What a beautiful life you lead sir, had to laugh at Angel, I think she wanted to be first with the sleeping bag.. what a great companion!!! Enjoyed very much! Thanx
Thank you Gerald that was something veery different for Angel I don't know what she was thinking.
Been looking forward to these videos of the cabin. Thanks for sharing. Such sweet stories.
Thank you .
Thank you Lona that sounds very good.
I reviewed the photos and just birds this time nothing around in the night.

Thank you Toni.
I've been enjoying this video so much Dale. I always like watching you bake and eat your meals at the cabin. The snow makes things seem more cozy while you are there. I'm hungry now and I'll take time to eat some breakfast. Just to let you know it is very cold here in Vermont also!
Thank you Pat it warmed up above freezing here today.
Great video. I enjoy your videos and the fact that it's snowing makes it all the more appealing for me. Semi retired I am working on making a homestead and a cabin down by our beach.
Thank you good luck with your cabin.
Thank you for all your hard work setting up for the video. I realize all the work that goes into producing a video. I enjoy all your videos.

Thank you Dale, I enjoyed this visit to the cabin very much - you shared so much and I enjoyed it all. The snowy cabin looked lovely but it must have been cold filming outside. Thank you and best wishes from a still autumnal England.
Thank you it wasn't cold at all compared to what it was a few days earlier .Mild now with rain.
I made the Arnie cake today, Dale. Actually, I made two of them, one for my husband’s Aunt too. What a wonderfully moist cake! Thank you for the recipe!

They are my favourite kind of books too. Whipped cream is always a good addition .LOL
A cabin video! And some awesome Anne of Green Gables-style history lessons.
LOL Thank you Paul.
