Although I appreciate the effort put in by you to create the content, I find the scenario taken to be impractical. Keeping the intense heat of North India in mind, no AC is run for less than 14-16 hours on average, considering the vast majority of people now working from home, Secondly, 6 months of usage is also not correct, Except perhaps December January and February an AC is required in all the rest of the 9 months especially at night. Also as responsible citizens of mother earth we should always strive to use more energy efficient devices as far as possible so as to reduce the carbon footprint. That is essentially what the star rating denotes.
So unless budget is an absolute deal breaker, one should always go for higher efficiency electrical appliances.

India mei generally AC komse kom 8 mahine aur 9/10 hours daily cholte hai.... So u should calculate on this basis.... So it will take approximately 4 years to recover the cost. General public use an AC at least for 8 years, so it is worth it to go for 5 star. But for person who needs ac for just 5 hours daily and place where one needs it for 6 months, your calculation is right.

181 * 6.5 == 1350/- per year.
In Nagpur cost per unit in second tier is 9 rs so that comes to 181 * 9 == Rs 1620 per year.

Thanks for your info but you calculate as per mentioned in the ac sticker but we have 2 ac 3 star and 5 star the monthly price difference is 300 that means my 5 star ac is more than 7k from 3 star ac that means after 4 year it is equal to 3 star price and more energy efficiency further.

Bhai this calculation is not correct, 1600 hrs are considered through out the year under different temperatures along the year. We just cannot divide power consumption shown by 1600. No ac will give me a bill of 3500 if I use it for 6 months in a year.

Your calculation is wrong. Electricity charge is based on unit slab. If I use a 3 star ac for 10 hours daily my monthly unit consumption is around 180+avg100 units for other appliances. Total approx 280. If you cross 200 slab charges are higher. With the above calculation my monthly bill will be approx 2000 but with 5 star it will be 1500. 500 per month saved. I will recover 8000 in 3 years if I use it for 6 months a year.

Not only Run time is matter.
If you run ac in eco mode or in 26-30° temp, which is enough, then you can save more electricity. Because after reach the optimal temp you set in sc the ac consume very less electricity.
Main electricity consume time is ac staring time.
So you should start ac less than 3 time in days.
Many start in hot room means, more electricity consumption.
If you use 3 star ac properly then you can also save money like me.
I use Ac for 10-12 hour daily.
My total household bill include Fridge, Cooler, Fan comes approx 2000rs. Which is very good
I also use timer in ac like in middle night Temp should increase. So I ser timer before sleep. Like after 4hr of running in 30° temp Ac automatically off.
And one more thing :- Run fan when use ac, It help to reduce ac power consumption. It's true!. It's held ac to reach optimal temp faster

I want to buy a 2 ton Ac 5 star ac. I trust LG brand but it comes only in 3 star. Should I buy voltas which comes in 5 star 2 ton or go with LG 3 star 2 ton. Initial AC cost is not a criteria but I want tension free usage & low electric bill

The calculation is on 24 degre and on notso harsh condition. Which is not even normal scenario. Even with the lowest runtime, a 5 star can save more than 1000 in a year. That's not all, If someone is using sola or Inverter, every wattage counts. That furthr strengthen the factfor 5 star. And then there is Carbon footprint. We cant go carbon negetive or neutral, but Ifwe have the chance to make less carbon footprint, we should.
So the conclusion is, only and only ifthe Initial budget constrain, go for 3 star, other wise, no other reason justifies buying 3 star if you look for overall scenario.
