    Perhaps the clearest, most compelling pictorial display and description to date of the basis for some of the most important adverse impacts of wake boats.

    I own a wake boat, it throws a huge wave, super fun to go surfing. You have to do it responsibly, destroying a narrow river or impacting other users ability to enjoy the resource isn’t a good way to guarantee continued access for these type of boats.
    Love the effort you put into the channel.

      Not only do they hurt the lake. They ruin for everyone else trying to use the lake with their ridiculous size waves.

    Having lived on the river for 20 years, the changes that happened once wake boats arrived was devastating to the shore line, with 90 year old trees where eagles nested falling within two years of immense shore erosion. I was no longer able to SUP after 9:00 AM or I was tossed off my board once the wake boats started running. For our area, wake boats are too big for the Willamette, they need to be used on larger bodies of water such as the Columbia River.

      I fish on an 18000 acre lake in Missouri. They are a nuisance here too. Waves are big enough the water has been on my deck from the wave. They need to go

    At the very least the boaters can pay for the shoreline erosion control and repair. And a percentage can go to the lake property owners who have docks that have sensible boats that aren't damaging to the neighbors properties and shoreline.

      @@AboveRioTzZ Nope. Not it at all. Yes, he kayaks. And he has seen the damage wake boats are causing. He’s not wrong on either aspect.
      I’ve never in my life met a more selfish, unaccountable, completely non-self-aware demographic than wake boat owners. I’m not sure if it’s something that happens after the purchase or if it’s what draws them to the purchase. But it’s a fact.

    • @jeffmurphy9987

      You can make light of the damage Wake Boats are causing. Bottom line is we will eventually get them outlawed. I boat Dale Hollow Lake Tennessee and have had my 21 foot Bow Rider almost turnover because of Wake Boats. What these owners don’t realize is the wake from a pontoon bass boat bow rider etc is relatively small and pretty much is gone by the time it hits shoreline or other boats. But let’s say multiple Wake Boats travel through an area going opposite directions now you have caused a whirlpool that erodes shoreline and can easily flip small boats that have just as much right to be on the water.

    • @allegorx58
      @allegorx58 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffmurphy9987 not making light of it. but what exactly would you ban? wakesurfing in general? wakes over a certain size (how could it be enforced)? boats over a certain size? certain weight? Limit the number of boats allowed on the body of water at a time? And also, maybe I missed this info but have you had a real environmental impact study done? Have any legit studies been done on this anywhere? Banning something thousands of families love to do together and do safely just because a few people are annoyed isn’t how this works.

    • @bradchristy8429
      @bradchristy8429 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t matter. Water is incredibly elastic. Which is a physics term referring to the ratio of returned energy vs absorbed energy. These waves will travel for miles.

    This is a joke. Let's be honest, it's not about protecting the lake from erosion or the environment. What's disgusting is that they're saying the wake boat owners are the rich a$$holes, when the reality of this legislation is that the homeowners are upset that their older docks and boat houses require what they deem as premature maintenance due to larger waves than the on-the-water structures were designed to withstand. The people with million-dollar properties are upset that they have to spend a few thousand to maintain their docks and boathouses, and like all people who own property on a body of water, they feel entitled to dictate how the water is used.

    It isn't just wake boats.
    Cabin cruisers yachts and obnoxiously loud go fast boats have no business on lakes. Especially as lakes become more popular. You can't go blasting up and down the street in you're open header Hot rod either. It literally ruins it for everybody who's trying to enjoy themselves. However if you don't agree. It's akin to smoking in public.
    I guess it's all about you.

      Why should property owners need to maintain damage from unnatural influences? A wave is just like a bullet. You are responsible for it, wherever it may travel, and liable for any damage it may cause. Enjoy your time ruining the water for everybody else. It is going to be short lived.
