My ex dumped me recently 6 days after we closed on a house together and took the house. We were also together for 7 years. Had a good combined income, multiple cars (which she took all except for one), etc. I wanted a motorcycle for 4 of those 7 years together and "we" always decided we just need to make a little more and be in a better spot. Never happened. Bought my first cheap used bike after we split and yesterday I got on it and rode it through the neighborhood. Honest to God one of the happiest moments of my entire life. I spent months in my room in the dark mostly sleeping (outside of work) but after getting on the bike I found myself approaching strangers and chatting it up and complimenting people. I really can't explain it. It's like I have just figured out for the first time how to live and be happy. Good video brother and ride safe.

all my life i've valued my own time over money and possesions, and while i've accumulated a fair bit of both, it's never been at the expense of what really matters. I think it's great you are reaching that conclusion. when older you won't be thinking of the long hours working, the new washing machines you bought or debt you got into paying for stuff you really didn't need, and if you don't like yourself and how you live your life you can't expect others to. CN I couldn't agree more. I turned 66 last year and, finally, got my first bike after having a heart attack a few months before. You never know what's going to happen and owning and riding a motorcycle had been one of those things I put off for years for responsibility excuses. I did all the research I could stand, understood the risks and decided it would be more on the plus column than the negative. And I got a black Ninja 650, then sold it later last year and got a Tracer 9 GT, which I'm happy with because I can more easily tour with it. All too often we forget to chase and fullfill our dreams. I decided I wasn't going to let that happen. I'm now 67, I don't care. I feel good and riding is an inexplicable enjoyment. Stephen, Medford, OR

thats fantastic, well done. i don't know why, but it's often us boomers that are more open to new experiences than so many kids i see with no direction and a head full of mobile phone. Like they say it doesnt matter what you ride as long as you ride, and if im on my 750 or 125 i get just as much pleasure from the riding itself, and reiterate all City Ninja says in the vid. I expect you got a few 'u having a mid life crisis comments', to which i said i hope im only half way through my life, but now people see me going all over and having adventure i think they are a bit envious as i have the get up and go spirit they don't, so keep riding m8 and stay safe.

That’s what’s up. Ima look that bike up. I love the 650 and got it because I wasn’t sure which direction I was going to go. Touring or sports. Honestly I do both but I would love to get a good touring bike. Been looking at Vulcan 1700. Seems like older people get them and sell them fast. Probably a weight thing but there is a surplus of them on marketplace. Good on you for still riding. I really hope I can keep riding at your age. Just see what happens.

I don't know how old you are but I've not had any stronger motivation in life than to be successful for my family. Life is so short you are right. Riding a motorcycle relieve stress, you working out all of the muscles in your body you’re not caged in like inside of a car and most people who fear driving a motorcycle, they have no idea of what they’re missing out on fear prevents a lot of people from being successful and to be able to do things, they thought they would never do. I feel free when I ride. I got my music. My tail bag has everything I need inside of it with my bike. I prayed when I got my bike and my angels are always riding with me, so I have no fear I went through a heartbreak and betrayal from my own daughter so after she left my house, this became my new baby🏍️❤️

My final push to get my motorcycle was finally being able to afford one. I had always wanted one since I was a little kid. Boy did his face light up, it was so fun to see his face when he ran up.

My man! You articulated the idea as I had hoped, with a philosophical slant. And a great job at that for an unscripted clip. Good job. As you were talking about the sunset, I had a thought that "I could smell the sunset."
Also, when you mentioned about how riding stretches your mind and challenges you to grow as a person another thought occured to me. My level of emotional control that I have gained has transferred over to other areas of life which was unexpected to say the least.

After a lifetime of enjoying 2 wheels cycling, and just motorbike rentals on holiday that i really liked, i woke up one day when 60 and thought, i'm going to get one, so did a CBT, rode a 125 for a year, learning doing a lot of miles, and then got a full licence. since day one, i have totally loved it, as i get out in the country with a picnic just enjoying the ride and scenery, sometimes 200miles plus, it's always a great mini adventure. those that have never tried it have no idea what they are missing, and if you are procrastinating, id say just do it, coz you only truly regret the things in life you never did, anything else is learning. Good video. Some good key points too.
I got my first motorcycle in 2003. I always wanted one growing up, and got that perfect opportunity when someone smashed my street parked car at my old home, totaling it. The crazy thing was, I saw a Motorcycle dirtbike stunt show the night before. I thought to myself, what can I buy for the little I had back then? My first motorcycle of course. A 2003 Ninja 250R. 21 years of riding motorcycles ever since and I look forward to it every season and 76,000 miles riding experience later. '21 Ninja 650 is my favorite bike so far. The Lightcycles from Tron and Speeder Bikes from Star Wars made me want a motorcycle early in life.
One rule for me though is, if you're a good car/truck driver without any crashes or a good driving record, then a bike is probably going to be a safer bet as I've experienced, versus the alternative of a bad driver getting a motorcycle. The decisions we make while driving/riding make a huge difference. While riding, I've never felt any fear in all those years. If I did, I wouldn't want to ride. Relaxed but alert is the key. I agree, fear is useless.

Not related to this subject/topic but... you still enjoying the 650? Still not hungry for more? Ive been watching your vids from the start and at and the same time i'm saving money for my first bike which most likely will be the 650 as well... but thats mainly due to my limited budget. It takes at least another year for me to gather all the money as my expenses are too high to be able to set aside a large sum of cash..... but thats ok as eventually i will have gathered enough to buy one :)
I did however had a chance to test ride a Z900 and that bike's power felt really nice, a complete other experience.
The 650 on the other hand is more my taste when it comes to eye-candy as i am not in favor of naked bikes. But you seem to enjoy it until now, havent noticed any mods and such either (afaik). You until now never had the feeling you have outgrown this 650? Any plans to change bike anytime soon?

My bike is definitely vanilla and I’m keeping the whale tail lol. I am actually about to do some stuff when I can get the extra money but, the bikes getting into it’s 2nd and 3rd cycle of maintenance.
I wanna DoorDash on it. I am installing the power supply mod. I’ll need it for the phone and I wanna do super long trips anyway.
I wanna do luggage bad but really just comes down to money. I genuinely still enjoy this bike though while I do wanna ride different bikes. I’m actually about to ride several bikes this weekend at a demo day event. Triumph BMW Ducati and MV.
I’m not really into the other stuff. I would love to one day have that flashed and a great exhaust but that when I’m not putting the miles on it.
I wanna Vulcan 1700 real bad and would love to own one in a few years….preferably next lol.

I had a 2010 Ninja 650 for my first bike and for me it was all I really ever needed. But since life is all about experiences I wanted to experience something else. It was not a "need for more" per se, but I too loved the Z900. So late last year I bought a 23 Z900 SE and while it is a motorcycle in the strictest sense, it's not the Ninja. For me, the Z900 requires even more emotional control, humility and willingness to learn more advanced levels of riding.
Would I buy Z900 again or keep my Ninja? While I loved that bike, after 13 years together, I was OK finding her a good home and moving to a new experience.

you don't say what country, but at 18 you will definately be an adult to make up your own mind, and while your parent's may not like the idea of a bike, it's a normal reaction to want you to be safe, so i would say (as a parent to 3 kids in their 30's now), what you should do is is talk to them and prove you will be sensible on the road, maybe take a few lessons or whatever, and get some proper protective gear. It does'nt matter if you ride the oldest rustiest cheapest bike out there, the pleasure is in the riding itself, and an old bike has many advantages such as it will likely force you to learn maintenance of it.
