Hi Steve The rule of thumb I have heard with series resonances of chokes is to "park" all resonances away from any operating frequency by 10%. 73s Bob K6TR

Thanks Bob. According to that rule my resonance spot isn't 'parked' far enough away from 10m or 6m. I'll look into that.

Great video Steve, thanks for the info on how to change the response frequency - does it ever need so many turns that you are losing the effectiveness of the 'choke' itself?

Thanks Simon. You could put heaps of turns on a choke and it would have such a high impedance that it would be fine. Think of the old lump wound 2.5mH chokes.

Isn't the wire too thin? In case of a B+ short across the coil the wire may vaporize before the protection fuse blow up...

It's 0.8mm, 20AWG so it should just pop the fuse.
