His regular speaking voice sounds more like Bob but when he gets excited he sounds like Archer

Its amazing how easily the members of the "real" band are able to come down to the level of these two (who "can't" play their insturments), and make it sound as though the entire output was intentional. Not as easy to do as you might think. Awesome musicianship.
The album's better ... Because the band are exceptional... And progressively "gets better" as he finds little ways to riff and where the general notes are... It's hilarious when he's just bad but it's funnier as he starts to sound better but better than really terrible.
How many time in his life does a voice actor sit on a show like the Late Show and hear applause for every piece of work he did?
When he does a voice for a well known show mostly made for adults ?
He was in Aziz's tv show, that was really good actually :D master of none? something like that.

Man I love his voice so much, could literally just listen to that voice all day long. His distinctiveness between Archer and Bob is so subtle but so effective
Jon will always be Coach McGuirk (Home Movies) first and foremost with me. He has a very recognizable voice.

As an amateur keyboardist, the first time I heard Jon in an interview and sort of a review of his album and a couple of tracks were played on either NPR's 'Morning Addition' or 'All Things Considered', I nearly had a third stroke as I was laughing so hard. My father was a serious Jazz pianist as is my brother and they both would appreciate this humour and also laugh their heads off. This is absolutely BRILLIANT and I appreciate his humour and must remember to buy the album as my son (another musician in our family) and I will laugh together. Bravo Jon!

Allan Felix ohhh lol, I didn't think that the show would really kill him off, but I guess we'll have to see how it actually pans out. these things can be misleading on purpose at times.
I played the trumpet for three years in high school and one year in jazz band and he's not far off
well it's not the first time he's picked up a trumpet lol. I've seen him with one before. I have spent about an hour with a trumpet before in my life time and I could probably do what he did. If you're already a singer, and know somebody well who can play it does help a lot.
Reebok Thom Gaming I played for years....he clearly had picked up a trumpet before. most can get noise to come out of it....he has an embouchure that has some experience. he has also used the word embouchure before, which is evidence that he knows how to play a bit.
Considering the hard part with a trumpet is knowing how to do the actual blowing part, after that for this particular situation it's just a matter of wiggling your fingers till you get something that sounds alright
In all likelihood Colbert knew at least how to buzz on a mouthpiece before this, if he had really done it cold he probably would've just blown through it and not made a sound
In a somewhat recent interview Colbert told a story about having to learn another similar instrument in a very short amount of time, as someone's understudy, but I can't remember the details right now. Anyone else remember? I'm certain that's why he could handle getting some notes out.

The album version of that track is way better because it actually sounds like he was trying to play as opposed to this where he's just mashing the keys.
That last note Stephen plays on the trumpet made me laugh SO hard.

@@blow-by-blow-trumpet I mean it's a pretty well known fact that the hardest part of playing a trumpet is learning how to blow through the reed so you actually make noise. Really, he's a lot of the way there.

Holy shit I'm buying this record! As a guy who groomed himself to be a session drummer, this whole idea is brilliant. Just the unmitigated audacity of getting away with it, and cutting a record?! Never saw this cartoon before either. Looks like it could become the next Simpsons!

Reminds me of a band called Half Japanese. They basically did the same thing by going into the studio to record a rock album and none of them really knew how to play their instruments. It's actually quite amazing how something great can come out of chaos but they pulled it off. Check out their song called "Firecracker, Firecracker" to get an idea of what it sounds like.
I, too, support Jon's endeavor into jazz even though he has no experience at all playing an instrument. Now I'm off to the Google so I can find somewhere to buy it!

I laughed so hard at the end because I'm a musician, and I'm in an improvisational group. We often play instruments we don't know how to play and do stuff like this.
Thanks to this I will start watching archer from 1st season!.. (I have re-watched it at least 5 times..)
