I don't get it but I don't have to. I don't have $1.51 million for property let alone a bull. More power to those who know and do. Congratulations! God bless.
Charlie not likely. They need to sell around 20k straws of semen to break even. The bull has to produce 20k straws. Which will take a long time. Best bull collection I had on any of mine was 419 straws in one collection. Whoever bought the bull just got a hell of a tax write off. I don’t know the Schaff’s personally. They seem like really good people and their cattle clearly work or people would not return year after year. But Herbster Angus is a write off for Conklin. Each year tops the previous year high seller. Herbster has bought most of the high sellers. It seems to me that it’s now just a pissing contest for the elite who need to hide money. Don’t get me wrong, the elite could show up here and buy any damn critter on the farm for that kind of cash.
For that price you would build him a sling and let him hang for the rest of his life. That bull's gonna get milked like Libarache's pool boy no matter what.
Around the 3:01 mark auctioneer says he sold him, although before he said that there was a chanter trying to get another bid in... seems like fair play? Or is it? 🤔
That is great for Kelly his family and program but how does that represent the entire cattle industry.. it is really hard to pay the bills with $1.50 calves let along spend that kind of money on one bull or sell the semen. Question is what is the average cost for a bull in the Angus herd? I own Angus cattle and this is not a good representation of what the herd is about.
I called about semen on him. It was 80 dollars a straw minimum of 10. 80 dollars a certificate minimum of 10. It wouldn't take long to pay for him. Plus his heifers will cost you 10,000 at least. So don't feel too sorry for them. It's a business decision and a gamble like any other. Sav sold a bull for 800,000 a couple years earlier
To put it in sports terms this bull is like have Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Bill Russell, etc all in their prime playing on the same team for the next 20-25 years. No injuries and no missed games. Just keep him healthy and keep producing straws ( that is what a individual semen extraction is called) multiple straws in a single ejaculation.

My mom used to be 4-H friends with the husband’s wife who owned this bull! We were just talking about this at home. Awesome job!

They will make their money back pretty quickly.
Charlie pretty quickly? Uhh no. It will take a long time to get all of his money back.

I wonder if his legs will hold out. Too top heavy? (for a youngster)

hope he has some good Calfs for that kind of $$$$$$$$ watch for those phone biders!!
Almost doubled last years record seller, SAV Elations
32 people don't speak auctioneer 🤣
Will need to sell a lot of straws to get his money back !
Only has to sell 18,875 straws to break even
He will be paid for sooner than most AI bulls
Stetson Myers
I doubt they'll $80 per straw. World class bull straws sell more like $275 or more per straw, 5,490 total to get his money.
I know they are selling for $80 a straw at the sale. I was there.
@@SPharaoh Try 500 to 1000 per straw he's a stud bull it's all about his paper.
I'm just here for the auctioneer chant
They better insure him before he even leaves the danged ring!!!
If I paid that much I would insure every hair on him lol
They did insure him!!! I bought the damn bull!!!
@@themizefamily7429 ya I'm sure you did
If I had a bull that expensive, he would be wrapped in cotton wool . Wow
Wow I'll be surprised if that auctioneer don't get sued for saying sold and then continue the auction. That's a big no-no!!
Luke Eversgerd I never heard that and I’ve seen a lot of people saying he did but I think he said something else. Don’t know maybe he did

Oh yes insurance , 🤠
There aint no way that varmit is worth that kind of money
Tony Moser varmit? You’re smoking crack
Money well spent. Like I told the group I'm with. I'm looking to be in the black by 4 th breeding season easy.
His EPD papers are like nothing anyone has seen before. Only problem I see is a bad case of line breeding.

Oh yeas he is. You should see him in person. I just did about 2 weeks ago. Also some of his calves.
Sold, maybe, kinda sold, no not sold.

No one better say anything else about my expensive Louis Vuitton handbags ever again!
Hate it when auctioneers sit there and talk it up and milk out a animal..get down there and milk that bull dry while your at it.
C B you cant milk a bull
I was in at 1.3 drunk on the online auction again. That was close. 2:55
What if he's gay and they can't breed him?
Linda Stevens that only applies to liberal thinking humans, in the animal kingdom there is only straight
only humans are that sick, l spend a lot of time in nature and have never seen a male animal try to mate with another male animal.
Then he should be fine, they use a steer, a castrated male cow, to excite the bull before they collect the semen.
Most bulls this expensive don't phisically mate with any cows they collect and freeze their semen to be used for artificial insemination.
