If no one has said yet, the story with bahamut continues in the level 50 8 man raid coils of bahamut. There is a additional cinematic within the last tier that really brings it home. That said welcome to Eorzea!
it's a very slow burn, ARR crawls so the other expansions walk, run and marathon... if/when you take the plunge, take your sweet time, smell the roses and enjoy the shenanigans hope to see you in Eorzea, Koe!
Louisoix (the old mage who got Bahamut blasted) has one of the most noble sacrifices I've ever seen in a game. I hope you're enjoying all the cool things about the game Koe
Koe must watch the document about Yoshi-P nuking the 1.0 from channel noclip, that was so incredible and give a lot more context to what happened during that cutscene.
Oh no bro I'm big into XIV just never heard the fgc retirement home thing until a couple weeks ago. For me and my friends it's the Destiny retirement home haha@@TacoLex
As someone who was there at the End of 1.0 and fought Nael van Darnus seeing the cinematic again always gives me shivers. Pretty sure everyone else is feeling the same. Like many others I spent my last days before server shutdown fishing 🤣
i have played this game since the 2.0 beta for PS3 i'll never get tired of this cinematic i started playing 10+ years ago because of this cinematic 😢😢😢
First off, Koe...welcome to Eorzea. Enjoy your stay while you're here, and do take the time to absorb what story elements you can during your time here. If you choose to continue, they *will* come up again when you least expect it. I don't know if this is ever brought up to you (as I am writing this before fully seeing the video), but concerning the End of an Era cinematic you saw: from the start of the video up until the old elf looks up into the light is the *_exact same cinematic_* players who were playing during 1.0 saw just before those servers shut down. Final Fantasy XIV has had a long and sometimes difficult story behind its development, and what you saw is a big part of it. If you are ever interested, there is a great set of documentaries done by noclip on the subject of 1.0's failure, and the risks they took even delivering A Realm Reborn to the playerbase.
Answers hits so different after Endwalker, it hits so incredibly more with the context of the story... Thou must Live, Die and Know - God that hits so hard at the end! Can't wait to see More Koe's adventure into Eorzea! (Wish i could watch live but Aussie timezone means streams start at 2am)
Eorzea is the continent you start on. The planet is most commonly called either just "the star" or Hydaelyn, a name shared by the mother crystal. The old-elf teleported the Warriors of Light not just to a different place, but they also skipped five years into the future. After the moment they got teleproted, nobody really knows what happened. Bahamut unleashed a big attack and then disappeared. Mind you, this Bahamut is not a regular dragon, but a so called Primal, FF14's version of summons. They are not real living beings, but magic concentrated so much, it takes on physical form. And when a summon uses up too much of it's magic, without any way to replenish it - like say, from a massive attack - it will disappear, so people aren't too freaked out about this world-kill monster just poofing out of existence, apparently on it's own. But nobody, really knows what happened, because the massive amount of unleashed aether, messed with the memories of everyone close enough to see what happened, which caused them to only recall the most general of events, but they forgot all the details. Among other things, they also forgot the names and looks of the Warriors of Light and only know that those mysterious heroes somehow saved the day.
9-5 challenge. He'll play ff14 like it's a job everyday for a month. Good if you like the game, but he's not gonna play any other game while he's doing this.
someone has got to get koe to go through the binding coils alliance raid when he gets there. there are things in the cinematic only revealed through that, which will further enhance the story moving forward.
I just started this video, and honestly, I noticed the time in the upper left corner and checked my time... to find out they were the *exact* same. Even when it changes is at the exact same time lol Except Im PM and ur AM. Crazy.
Better to watch the cinematics on TH-cam, IMO. The in game one is good quality but the audio for voice lines tends to be drowned out by the music in my experience.
I'm sure it's been explained already, but in the full cinimatic, everything that plays up till 'gandalf' gets enveloped in white was literally the last thing players in 1.0 saw prior to the servers being shut down, with a message from the devs essentially saying "We will be back." There was a massive in-game event where we tried to stop the moon from being pulled down onto our heads, but failed. 😢 That cinematic is what happened after we failed to 'win the day'. Everything 'after' that bright flash, with the mass of adventurers on chocoholic riding along, was added as part of the 'oppeninh' to A Realm Reborn (or as we call it, 2.0)
Happy to see you giving ffxiv a chance. My advice is to stick it out until Heavensward finale at least - if you're not loving it by then I'd be surprised.
IMO watching the ARR trailer on YT then playing the game and discovering what happened before ARR is the way to go for FFXIV. The summary trailer upon starting the game prior to character creation is okay but the long cinematic trailer just hit harder.
It’s semi explained in game but not to well: the calamity(the incident with the dragon) was won through great loss, and the disappearance of the warriors of light(the player characters of the og patch 1, when they wiped the game) and if you were a patch 1 player then arr is about 5 years in the future because the elf in the cutscene teleported you to then, and if you are new it simply refers to them in past tense
Yooooo! Koe playin' FFXIV?? welcome man and enjoy your time! Advice: dont feel rushed to get to the end, take your time and enjoy where you are. Im sure plenty have said it but the story is good, try not to skip cutscenes and enjoy the trauma
"Well, hello there, traveler. Haven't seen the likes of you around here! Mind, we see some many adventurers passing through, you'd think they were a flock of chocobos, the way they run around from location to location. With so much fervor, I often wonder what is they seek... Actually, now that the topic comes to mind, what are you seeking? Power? Fame? Fortune? Perhaps...something more personal? ... ...Do you not have the mind to tell me? Or maybe your the strong, silent type? I hope you don't mind my asking; I am curious by nature, you see. ... ...Still no? Well, alright then. If you have the mind to keep your secrets, then I shall abstain from prodding further. Whether you are bound for Uldah, Limsa Lominsa, or Gridania, I'm sure someone such as yourself will have no troubles making your way. No matter where you go, there will be no shortage of helping hands willing to guide you to whatever it is you need. And if you are of the mind to reciprocate in turn, I hear an able group called the Scions of the Seventh Dawn are always looking for capable individuals to aid in their cause to heal and stabilize the realms. ...Well, whatever you plan to do, I at least hope you have fun doing it. The way the realms of have been these days since the fall of Dalamud, there's been no shortage of strife and suffering. As a matter of fact, I keep hearing rumors that the Garlean Empire has been mobilizing their forces as of late. What it is they intend to do, I haven't the foggiest, but given they've been silent these past five years, since the start of the Seventh Umbral Era, as a matter of fact, it likely will not be to the benefit of the realms. After all, rumor has it these invaders were the ones responsible for dropping Dalamud and freeing that blasted dragon, Bahamut, allowing him to lay waste to everything in the first place! Ah, but but I digress. I believe we have arrived at your destination. If you have the mind to, you might want to consider visiting the Adventurer's Guild first and foremost, if only to get yourself situated. Oh, and sir? Welcome to Eorzea. :)"
If you want to know what happen to the bahamut you need to watch the video called FINAL FANTASY XIV: Flames of Truth that is the full video of the ARR Trailer and welcome to FFxiv
you cant actually get dmca'd for doing a reaction, since a reaction is considered as sufficiently transformative content for the purpose of commentary.
It was briefly mentioned in the video, but back in 1.0 it was failing so they decided to shut down the servers. As a countdown, they had a timer and showed the red moon falling as the timer ticked down. Once it reached 0, everyone was booted and treated to the first part of the cinematic, where Bahamut came and seemingly destroyed the world, and ended with the player characters getting teleported out. Then when ARR launched, they played the full cinematic, showing the players teleporting back into the world 5 years later. And, if you had a legacy account from 1.0, you got a special intro where you get teleported into whatever region your class started in, to show that it's the same Warrior of Light from the past. I've always thought it was cool that they incorporated the shutdown of 1.0 into the actual lore of the series.
Bahamut in ff16 looks like a wyvern instead of an actual dragon. dragons are always better than wyverns this is a fact I am right and anyone who disagrees is just wrong :D. anyways fact jokes aside (they are tho) dragons are usually just overall an upgrade to what a wyvern is. 4 legs and 2 wings instead of 2 legs and 2 wings which would be in place of the arms. dragons would have a fuck you amount of defense hit way harder are way faster when flying and are usually much bigger in size.
Still can't get over Louisoix is now just reduced to the face of "Minor Spelling Mistake"
If no one has said yet, the story with bahamut continues in the level 50 8 man raid coils of bahamut. There is a additional cinematic within the last tier that really brings it home.
That said welcome to Eorzea!
The End Of An Era video still gives me chills. I didn't play much of 1.0, but I was there when Dalamud fell. That song is etched onto my soul.
A Fellow pre 1.0 player. O7
The opening animation with just the song Answer always brings tears to my eyes.
After finishing Endwalker, it just hits so much harder.
yeah and while the trailer explains the basic lore i much rather listen to the music.
Yeah chills every time I see someone watch this for the first time
Yeah I don’t remember the narrated version at all, the Answers version is so much better.
it's a very slow burn, ARR crawls so the other expansions walk, run and marathon... if/when you take the plunge, take your sweet time, smell the roses and enjoy the shenanigans
hope to see you in Eorzea, Koe!
Good analogy
Louisoix (the old mage who got Bahamut blasted) has one of the most noble sacrifices I've ever seen in a game. I hope you're enjoying all the cool things about the game Koe
"I like the lady, _smiles at camera_ " oh yeah, this one's an eorzean through and through, welcome home
Welcome to the FFXIV community! Hope you'll enjoy the game Koe!
Koe must watch the document about Yoshi-P nuking the 1.0 from channel noclip, that was so incredible and give a lot more context to what happened during that cutscene.
Welcome to the FGC retirement home, Koe.
Never heard of this until I went to my local game and collectibles store wearing XIV merch and talked to one of the workers
@@Animewolf17
You’re missing out on some damn good stories. Shadowbringers is still one of the best experiences I’ve had with Final Fantasy
Oh no bro I'm big into XIV just never heard the fgc retirement home thing until a couple weeks ago. For me and my friends it's the Destiny retirement home haha@@TacoLex
@@Animewolf17 i think it's just a retirement home from any other games LOL
Getting ready for Koe to say damn that's cool music a lot.

can never listen to this trailer's music (answers) without tearing up a little as it has such a heart wtenching meaning later on
So exciting when I see people starting this game for the first time! Welcome! ♥️
Thank goodness Koe played the actual trailer instead of the spoilerific Flames of Truth video that every reaction channel does nowadays.

i love how the song "answers" tells so much of the story
This is only a portion of the full cinematic. The rest is shown later.
Wait.

Anyone have a betting pool on how many times the FFXIV story can make Koe shed tears?
man every time i hear answers i get shivers
When did they changed ARR "End of the Era" cinematic with a narration one? If I recall it right it was still there when Asmon played FFXIV.
It's still there thats the new character cinematic.
There's an even longer cinematic showing how the old elf/pissed off dragon fight ended.
Welcome aboard, Koe ^^!
it's been a while... this truly gave me goosebumps! have fun ma dood

Burning an awful launch to the ground and save a dying title. BF2042, Payday 3 and other games wishes being capable to do something similar to this.

He should of watched the Flames of Truth video. It shows everything that happened in the fight with Bahamut.
