19. Aggr Function & Range Sum function in Qlik Sense

  • Aggr Function:
    It Groups the data Based on the Group you are entering
    It is used to aggregate two or Aggregation function.
    Range Sum: Range sum function is used to sum up all the values in a column where we have a mixture of character and number values. It ideally sum up all the number values and leave off the character values

    In my mind, SUM(AGGR(MAX(Salary),City)) is showing the same as MAX(Salary) if you have a City as dimension (as is your case).

    wouldnt simple max(salary) been enough, instead of aggr func?

      Aggr is used depending upon the requirement. For example: you have a table where you show max of salary and the dimension is 'name', so the salary is automatically getting grouped by 'name'. Now, if requirement is you need to find max salary by department but you can't have a dimension (only 'name' should be dimension). Then you need to use aggr to specifically group it by department
