    Great info as usual Chris.
    I had my fair shares on used car dealers. 99% of them are just deceitful. Why? Well, these are the norms now :-
    - Fake year made advertised (some can differ by 2 years or more!)
    - Fake mileage (this applies almost to every used car dealer)
    - Super high processing fees (football fees), as what you mentioned can go as high as RM 4k etc. (I kena RM 5 - 6k before)
    - No service records
    - Badly damaged car sold as "accident free"!
    - and the list goes on and on.
    Since many moons ago, I've shy away from buying from a used car dealer. They are really like those petaling street sellers and their mindset is just to get rid of the car by whatever means and to maximize profit from the buyer! I can understand on maximizing profit from a business point of view but it's getting ridiculous if you advertise the car at RM20k and after all those 'fees', the end price would be RM 25k (without roadtax and insurance!).
    As what you've rightly said, best is to buy from a private owner but it's pretty tedious if it involves loans by both side. Either way, both seller and buyer need to exercise patience in this manner. BTW, do you know that some used car dealers provide these 'runner' fees to settle your problem on seller's outstanding loan together with applying for buyer's loan? Not many does it and they only do it for certain customers that is familiar to them. Anyway, they do charge a fees for this process too. It'll perhaps cost RM2-3k for this, however this figures are from 2-3 years ago.
    Anyway, stay away from used car dealers if you can. Buy if you want an unreg recond car but also practice with caution!

      Hi SK, thanks very much for that excellent feedback!! Yeah, it's really ridiculous how much some UCD charge for merely processing a used car, madness!! I once negotiated this fee from 2.5k to 1k, that just goes to show how ridiculous it is because it's intangible, it's just a figure they pluck out of thin air. Buyers must be wary of this, always! Thanks again for sharing bro 🙏🏽👍🏾😊

    good words. Agreed, used car dealers tend to know little about the cars being sold and inaccurate mileage is just a put off. Also dont understand why used car dealers dont collect service records and keep original owners manual/ booklets. They see no importance in these.

Buying a used car requires loads of patience and research.... Best is buying from direct owners.... A lil bit hassle... But at least you get the true story of the car and make true friends along the way.... Priceless like u say.....if can afford new that's the best... Wish I knew about this 2 years ago, I got scammed by private seller for selling a "good condition" Honda that have been heavily modified, its also my fault to put the cash on him after getting the car without getting inspected for name changing. After that he ask to use runner for name changing since the car engine has been changed and not declared on the card which add more problem into it. Until now the car haven't changed the name on card and I didn't even try to contact him, apparently I heard somewhere that he sold a Ford pickup that been used by drug dealers still under his name (must be his fault) and he got asked go to the court. Now the car is running fine just kept hidden for certain reason,
    What should I do with the car? Sell for parts? Use runner? Buy a new clean titled car? Hide the car in barn?

    • @ChrisWeevilGarage
      @ChrisWeevilGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ouch. That's a sticky situation bud, very messy. Hence why it's always better to get the car inspected first before paying in full, also unless the engine has been endorsed, stay away from cars like that. Do u have the surat enjin? If so, u can make an appeal/aduan at JPJ, to get it endorsed and reinspected. I've never been in a situation like that though, and this is my best advice on the matter, it might not be that easy, but I hope it is for you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😊

As happen about same time, my friend was trying to buy car from his customer and looking for runner to do it in KL. He got quoted 3.5k for the runner fee. Hi Den!! Loan for a 5k car? That doesn't make any sense, cos it's too cheap for a loan, unless that 5k stated in the ad is actually just the downpayment and not the full price. Also a 5k car is definitely more than 10yrs old and not eligible for any bank loan, only a "loan kedai", which is a private contract between u and the shop selling the car, no official financial institutions involved. I don't think any UCD would refuse a full cash payment though, so be careful of the ones asking u to take a private loan with them, sound a very fishy to me 🙏🏽 😊

    Hey Chris, great video and love how you restore all these old cars and give them a second life. Just wondering how do you find some of your cars that are relatively rare? because I don’t see them on mudah or carlist. Can you get the dealers to find them for you? Thanks a keep up the good work :)

      Hey thanks for the kind words and for watching my silly vids bud, much appreciated 🙏🏽😀
      Well, apart from Mudah, I've found a few of my Weevils on FB marketplace, as well as via word of mouth among friends 😊
      One of my fave time-wasting-pasttimes is to trawl FB marketplace, ill advised though, it's a very dangerous place 😆😆😆

    good info Chris... what about buying recon cars. what are the things to look out for?

    • @ChrisWeevilGarage
      @ChrisWeevilGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks bud!! Hope u found it useful. Buying recon cars would be the same as local cars, just make sure all the documentation is in order if buying from a private seller (this is where Puspakom is vital) cos usually a used car dealer would have all this prepared in advance, but to be on the safe side, ask to see the Puspakom cert once the car has passed inspection 😊

    Just wondering Chris, since I'm not even in a position yet to buy any car 😂, but let's say I'm willingly mentioned to process the Puspakom, changing name etc² like you said to the dealer, what's the procedure then? I noticed each time in your vids your cars change names at UTC, you will go together with the new owner. Does the dealer need a representative to be with you during that change?

    • @ChrisWeevilGarage
      @ChrisWeevilGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Currently UTC is still not operating, but when it opens, yes, u can do your name transfer at the JPJ office in there. Ideally both buyer & seller should be there, however if the seller is out of state, he/she can do their thumbprint at any JPJ wherever they are, and u can do yours here subsequently. Everything is online now. Both of u need a photo of each other's MyKad for form-filling purposes, the transfer fee is rm100, bourne by the buyer who will get a new VOC in their name on the spot. The dealer does not need to be present unless the car being bought has been transferred to their company name, and he will need to be there to furnish all the necessary documents 😊

    There are lots of variables second dealers to play with to rob your money, they announce 4% discount during the pandemic, more like 4% rip off to me🤣

    but charging 4k-8k for additional processing fees is absurd, that happen to me many times when I walk into some of the more common second hand car dealers area like Sg Besi, Cheras, Old Klang Road. Agree with you bullshit!!
    I straight away walk off.
    And I heard you cannot apply car loan on your own in owner-to-owner car selling.

    • @ChrisWeevilGarage
      @ChrisWeevilGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info, that's new to me about the car loan thing!!
      Yeah, it's blatantly absurd how much they try to charge, when I can get it all done myself for a tenth of the "football fee" price, it's ridiculous really. Thanks for watching and the feedback bud!!🙏🏽👍🏾😊

      @@ChrisWeevilGarage yes, I was shocked to hear about the loan thingy and I called up the banks to verify the here say. It seems it is partially correct, some banks wouldn't entertain while some will entertain depending on who you know and how much money you have in the bank account.
      It is good if you can look up on this matter as well.

      I will do so, thanks for letting me know!! It's been 2 decades since I applied for a car loan, I'm sure a lot has changed in that time 😀

    • @grandehowe
      @grandehowe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi folks. Buying from direct car owner and applying bank loan , you need a least 30 percent Downpayment according to CIMB hire purchase VP whom I encountered. For car dealers , the bank had strong connection with them,thus need lesser dp for the car.

    • @ngkwdaniel
      @ngkwdaniel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grandehowe yes!! public bank doesn't even entertain if you deal direct with owner and set up a car loan for yourself.
      It seems that these banks wants 2nd hand car buyers to buy and set up loans via 2nd hand car dealers.

    i would say the same things for all these BS...
    yeah that's kind of my main reasons i dont like to go for used car dealers too...
    n i nvr know the runner fees over there is this expensive
    it costs me RM300 from a runner i have known for years (for company lorry inspection) for the passenger car Puspakom inspection + JPJ ownership transfer + VOC over here in JB...

    • @ChrisWeevilGarage
      @ChrisWeevilGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That a still reasonable cos runners need to earn a living too, it's when the UCD hikes up the runner fee for their own pocket that makes the HUGE difference sometimes, all in the name of "processing fee". What s bunch of BS (oops, need another blip)😆😆😆🙏🏽😊
