Have you ever Dyed anything with Indigo or any other natural dyes?? And in case you missed it, here is my first video about Dyeing with Indigo: th-cam.com/video/Y--hXxYGyk4/w-d-xo.html
You always make me smile when I watch your videos. Wish you were my neighbor. I also have tried natural dying and its fun. When my son was 5 he slipped and fell into a fresh cow pie. Found out you can dye shorts green that way. :P
These kinds of "lost arts" are so intriguing to me. Thank you Jason. And look at your jeans at the end where you have put your hands all up and down for that finger painted effect.
Great video Jason. I've been following a bit of this through the Bois D'Arc Farm site. That place intrigues me! Bois D'Arc (Bo Dock, Mock Orange, Hedge etc) is one of the hardest woods there is. Tremendous strength and a high oil content. Prized by duck and turkey call makers. It's also a very common fence post in the blackbelt, where it's so plentiful. Highly resistant to rot! The wood ranges from bright yellow to a rich golden hue, and yes, it stains like crazy, which makes it a good dye, I reckon. If you can find some old fence posts, the ends that have been buried for years will be rich shades of green, especially if they have been standing in a place with high water content. Nasty tree otherwise! Thorny as hell and drops those mock oranges everywhere! The farmers hate them! They did actually plant them for hedges to contain livestock etc back in the old days. I haven't been through Marion in a while, seeing Marion Institute brought back memories! I did pass through Dallas County and Selma last Sunday on my way back from the gulf. Nice to see the old hometown again!
So interesting, I love natural dyes like onion skins, tea, beets, and purple cabbage. I've heard of indigo but not the yellow dye. That's from Sawdust? So cool love how they turned out.
How long did it take for the blue to wear off your arms, lol? Very cool and very interesting. I've thought about getting into natural dyes, but I know some can be difficult as you said. Thanks for sharing- Jenny
Interesting. So you could do like a large blanket or even curtains. Bet my daughter would love that. I need to find her another hobby other than making slim out of Elmer’s glue. We can’t keep bowls at our house. There all used for glue! Oh, and there’s that one unlike again 😂 👎🏼

I've dyed my fingers with poke berries lots of times. Does that count?

I remember when I was young, we would take white t-shirts and put them in dye. It sure was fun seeing the results

This is exactly what we did back in the sixties with tie dying. We would fold and not accept we used rubber bands.
