    Just came across your channel. I am a former paraglider pilot looking forward to learning to fly sailplanes sometime in the near future. I love your short, clear format and the great footage-well done!

      Nice! Hope you can start soon. It is very much different from paragliding, but I am sure you wont regret both flight epxeriences. I went the same way, starting out as a paragliding and ended up completely in love with flying gliders. All best!

    Great that you noticed that wave on what was otherwise an unspectacular day. Great production too! Looking forward to the next one.

      …thanks wingman! I was hoping that you join too, as I saw you flying for many hours on the ridge nearby…

    Thanks a lot for this vídeo. I've subscribed. I love people doing glider flight but I also appreciate learning something at the same time.
    I've always wanderd how the wings are mounted at the beginning. 😂

      …sehr aufmerksam!

    I was in a K8 on my first wave flight. I don't know if it happened to you as well, but the wind noise inside the cockpit changed completely once you are in wave. Not sure if it's because of the K8 acting as a resonance cavity, or simply the different properties of the air. In any case, before getting into oxygen problems, you might end up with "too cold to continue" problems. You were not dressed for the occasion.

    • @flyneur

      …to fly a wave with a k8 must be incredible…and yes, i guess the k8 is much more responsive to the outside air…and in a wave the air is unreal calm. good point with the dress, low temperature would have been another problem…🥶

    I'm learning to soar right now, a student glider pilot with a Private Pilots license. I really wish I had the chance to glide in that environment.

    Very nice video. I like it 🙂. Myself I use a Gopro camera. And you ?

    • @flyneur

      thanks for you comment! I use Insta360 One X2. Its not such an amazing image quality like a GoPro, but I can make it run an stop by voice commands and after the flight I can edit everything. So I can concentrate fully on flying.

    ive never flown a flapped glider but ive always been told that you need to keep your hand on the release is that a flapped glider thing

    • @flyneur

      this glider, a hph 304 c, does not have flaps. but to have one hand near to the release and ready for action is always good!

    Nice wave detection 👍. Shame you couldn't make it across to that other range. Presumably you got caught by the downwards wave mass when you hit that big sink.
    Hey, don't want to criticise but the saying "over and out" is a bit off, at least as far as military RATEL procedures go, where this comes from. Over is to hand the conversation over for an expected reply coming back. Out is to say you are ending the conversation now, with no expected reply. The out command should ideally only ever come from the original caller station and requires no reply from the station(s) having being called. Putting over and out together means you are waiting for a reply but hanging up before it even comes. Of course with TH-cam maybe that is your intention, then it's funny 😁

    • @flyneur

      Yes, I guess I hit exactly the sinking part of the wave. As I am a wave newbee I accepted it. Thanks for the details about 'over and out'. I did not knew this and now I learned something. Better not use it in future as it might be confusing...Thanks for your adivce.

    How much wind does it take to create such a wave with climbing rates of 1-2 m/s?

    • @flyneur

      the forecast predicted a wind from 2400 m AMSL of approx. 25 km/h, which is very week but already creates gentle lifts. Unfortunately I did not have the instruments to measure and verify it in flight precisly. Most of the pilots expect waves for flying starting from 35 km/h.

      @@flyneur OK thanks. Just thought about it as a paraglider 😄
