The federal education budget is actually quite small. States and local governments fund education. The feds pay for things like aides for disabled kids, Head Start and all that stuff for helping people who won’t be educated without some help. Democrats should let Donald Trump and his cabinet do whatever they want. People aren’t going to believe he doesn’t have their best interest at heart until he burns it down. Otherwise any barriers that Dems put up that are helpful will be credited toward Trump.

He's not going to merge Education with another cabinet agency like it was before it was separated out into its own thing, he's going to cut all funding to it. You heard him complaining about how much money is spent on public education. He doesn't care about how departments are organized, he cares about money being spent that doesn't directly benefit himself. He clearly wants to just push home-schooling and cut funding to public education.

@ I sometimes catch the odd (completely unhinged) election ad up here in Canada. That one about the Democrats giving trans gender reassignment surgery to people in prison was laughably ridiculous. It was a unique window into the absolute circus of a US election. The idea that anyone could watch an ad like that and take it as anything other than comedy is also very mysterious to me.

The federal education budget is actually quite small. States and local governments fund education. The feds pay for things like aides for disabled kids, Head Start and all that stuff for helping people who won’t be educated without some help. I’m sure all the trump voters whose kids have individual learning plans, autism support etc won’t mind giving them up.

The public system is failing - so destroy it and force people to send their kids to private schools or home school them.
