I remember before Diablo came out in Germany there was a huge article in may favorite gaming magazine and it had a little diablo art book in it. I was a teenager at the time and I remember staying over at my friends place and we were looking at all the wepon art and imaginig how they would play in the game. Probably one of my favorite gaming memories.
Amazing. I really appreciate how Blizzard hand picked this D4 team. I was extremely discouraged ever since D3, but after seeing the initial announcement of D4, and the passion the team holds for it I was speechless. It's all about bringing the right people together that hold the same passion.
Like father, like son. Great interview! Very interesting and motivating to hear their stories! I remember filling an entire sketchbook trying to draw the perfect skeleton as a kid. Scary things trigger your imagination.
having people onboard who vocally love D2 & particularly D1 really seem to 'get it' Couldn't be more different from Jay Wilson & the attempted WoW-ification of the art in D3. This really has me excited - the art direction for DIV seems to be picking up on how the themes of darkness worked that even Diablo 2 failed to replicate
@@InnuendoXP Blizzard really hired awful Game Directors. This dude for D3 and Dustin Browder for Stacraft 2. I tried in retrospect to understand their logic for some of the decisions and I just came to the conclusion they are morons. Especially Browder.
@@NinjaSushi2 i didnt mean in terms of atmosphere. Brood war did have a little bit more steampunk to it but that wasn't my initial point, more gameplay designs. He wanted every unit to do "terrible, terrible damage" so a lot of units are super hard counter to other units (immortals vs roaches...) Makes sc2 a great game, but much more strategic / unit comp focused more than securing a larger economy through faster mechanical skills. They are different, matter of opinion which you prefer :)

Usually don't really comment on youtube, But as a person who always loved doing creative things ( Drawing non stop ) from when i was just a kid, This interview really really spoke to me. Like for Brom's case with diablo I grew up playing Blizzard games Warcraft 3 Diablo 2 and eventually played Wow with my mom and dad, Also did play diablo 3 with them a little bit But most my history was with wow.. Just remembering getting Quel'Serrar in Onyxia's lair with my dad for the first time i was like 11 or so.. it was truly special. And honestly this interview reminded me of the good friendly connection i had with my dad while playing those games with him or just talking in general. Sadly he passed some years ago. But to this day i Still play Wow and diablo 3 on occation with my mom. While we both agree it's very bittersweet playing these games. They are and will always be a huge part of my family.. So seeing that in this interview made me actually tear up a bit.. wich is weird for like a art panel. But yes it just reminded me of the companionship i had and lost with my dear father and friend. And on a more positive note and goes without saying Love the art of Diablo. Always have. Looking forward to decend into Diablo once more with Diablo 4.
Dude, one of the reasons i fell in love with Magic: the Gathering back in the 90s was because of Brom's art, what a man, what a family, truly inspiring!

i also played diablo 2 for the first time, on my first computer. my dad bought a pacard bell 98 i think it was called, i was 8 or 9 at the time. he bought the diablo battle chest for me after not letting me go see harry potter with my school class and then surprised me with it :P now, im 29, married, a father of 4, and d2 comes out again remastered, and i get to play it again in modern graphics and such :) my mother was alive when d2 came out when i was a kid, now she's not. so i will probably get double nostalgia when i'll play the remaster

I got my first Brom book when I was 14 from one of those publusher's mail cards from the 90s where you get 12 books for a penny each, if you promise to buy three at full price within 6 months, 😉.
I love Broms art, but there's probably a really Dark Reason behind why they talk so much about the whole Family thing and how they all played Diablo together. Diablo 2 Remaster is my Personal Diablo 4
