Another nice video Henk-Jan. I'm looking to buy a yacht this year to explore the Dutch waterways and as a complete beginner, all the little details in your videos are 'taken onboard' and memorized.
Good to be with you Henk-Jan on yet another Dutch voyage. I wish you much happiness and safe passage on your one week hoilday. I share your concern regarding the current price of diesel oil, as it must be killing the pleasure boating industry. I am reminded that my previous boat had a diesel capacity of 5,300litres and feeding two 1,000hp MAN twin turbo power units, that quantity did not last very long. The bridge system in the Netherlands must take some confusion to a non-resident. I had no experience of these bridges when I delivered my boat to Lengers in Muiden from Southampton for sale, although I greatly enjoyed my short experience of the canals. Bon voyage.
Holy moly John, those two ladies in the Engine Room would have had a party often!! I once looked online for a Hatteras who was moored in Poole. It had two 800hp Cat’s and at cruising speed the ladies ‘only’ consumed 10 gallons each. ;-) Lady Liselot consumes that in liters each. ;-) Downside is that her max speed is much slower, but I get there anyway AND with a smile on my face.
Henk-Jen thank you so much for your videos you are creating a comprehensive guide one piece at a time. Is there anywhere in the world that you won't pilot Lady Liselot? Mike in Foley Mo.
Thanks for the trip Henk, see you have a nice screen cover for the computer, was wondering how you managed to see it and thought 'this chap has great eyesight'. Nice picture of Ladyliselot from above.
Hello Walter! The cover helps a lot to block the sun for sure, but I must confess that there are times that I only see contours. Most of the times, that’s just enough. But the glasses help a lot too. Hahaha
I already thought you too would love the Ibiza Sensations from Luis del Villar. Most canals and rivers have muddy looking water over here. In part (5,6 or 7 - cannot tell at the moment) you will see and hear me talk about how clean the salt water looks like)
Hi Peter! Let's calculate. Sometimes two engines, most of the times one. In cruising like this, it will be around 6 litres per engine, but in Pt2 you will see a lot of current agains, than i's at least twice that much per engine (speed only 10km/h). But overall in 30 hours combined, I burn around 300 litres.
Spring is in the air..? Why should I..? (Gerbrandy) During the WW2, Churchill said to Gerbrandy while they were on a balcony: "Spring is in the air". Gerbrandy responded "Why should I?", thinking that Churchill told him: "Spring 'ns in de lucht".
Something like one man asks another "What do you do for a living? " and the 2nd one response is "I fok horses". The first one reacts with "Pardon?" and the 2nd reaction on that is: "Yes, paarden" . Mixing Dutch and English in one sentence can be fun this way.
Groetjes, Bram
Thanks wow 264 gallons of diesel is USA is about 1725.00 US it's around 4.35 here per gallon 8/23 interesting anyway. I wouldn't want that bill every week or so.
Hi and thank you for the compliment! The canals (most in The Netherlands) are between 3.5m and 4.5m deep. I have met some sailboatd with a draft of 2.2m. And the barges go op to 3.0m deep when they are loaded.
At 11:40 you passed by on the port side some houses that all had pool ladder looking things on the front… are they there just in case, or the people who live there usually moor their boats on the side of the waterway? just curious to know their purpose honestly (as couldn’t see any boats moored anywhere nearby)… Your zest for life is still contagious:) luckily that hasn’t changed, very much looking forward to the rest of the tour:)
I though maybe people like to swim there. But there are ladders in canals with quay walls you can't climb out off every 100 or 200 meters or so. But these ladders were pretty close together.
@@Reeferman420NL You may be right, to be honest I disregarded swimming as I feel one must be a real daredevil to swim with all that boat traffic (or I am just not brave enough) …
Ola Kristine, I must confess that I can only guess that's they are private pool stairs. Yes, it seems grazy indeed to go swim in the canal, and I have no idea if one is allowed to do so. The ladders that @Reeferman420NL is mentioning are build into the quay, and these are 'added' on top of it. Since I have to take this route everytime I go South, I will pay attention to it.
@@MVLadyLiselot Sorry, it’s just my endless curiosity…had the mental image that one wakes up in the morning, hops into the boat moored in front of the house and sails off into the sunrise…much better than spending hours in traffic jams…
Greetings Henk, lovely day for a sail. I have a couple of questions... I presume you have to obtain a licence to cruise your waterways. Does the cost of that cover any bridge and/or lock tolls that may apply? AND just before you passed the container barge "Gouwenaar II", on the other side of the lift bridge, next to it's "traffic light", there was the number 120 illuminated in red. What did that signify? Thanks. Terry
Hi Terry, When your boat is smaller than 15m or it can not drive faster than 20km/h there is no licence involved. BUT it's always good to have one. ;-) Crusing the waterways is free. There are some cities that charge a fee (see my video on Haarlem) and also Amsterdam does. But most of the times it is free. So feel free to come over. The illuminated 120 is the distance in decimeters (120 = 12m) between the water surface and the bridge deck.
@@MVLadyLiselot thank you for your answer but I meant that kind of smooth (jazz?) music in the background at 9:25. It doses not sound like Ibiza Sensations :)

A a/d Rijn heen voer hahahahaha
I was on a hotel barge, from Amsterdam to Bruges ,we passed here every week ,was chef kok
So that barge took the small waterways?
@@MVLadyLiselot yes the backway out of Amsterdam past the olympic stadion .behind Schipol, oude wettering ,Gouda Rotterdam ,then south towards Belgium ( the deep) was a seven day trip
@@martinabcbeers Nice! well they took the most beautiful tour for sure.
New Sub Thumbs Up Awesome Video!!! Thank You!!!
Hello Jennifer, welcome aboard!
Another nice video Henk-Jan. I'm looking to buy a yacht this year to explore the Dutch waterways and as a complete beginner, all the little details in your videos are 'taken onboard' and memorized.
Hello Brian, practice makes the master, but if my video's help, then I am happy. Go out, explorer and enjoy!
It had two 800hp Cat’s and at cruising speed the ladies ‘only’ consumed 10 gallons each. ;-)
Lady Liselot consumes that in liters each. ;-) Downside is that her max speed is much slower, but I get there anyway AND with a smile on my face.
Hey henk , love the show , great content .
Hi There Eric, thanks for joining me!!
@@MVLadyLiselot i have been here sense day one buddy
Henk-Jen thank you so much for your videos you are creating a comprehensive guide one piece at a time. Is there anywhere in the world that you won't pilot Lady Liselot? Mike in Foley Mo.
Hi Mike, I guess Greenland, Alaska, Antartica and Cape Horn are places you will not see me. But other than that... hahaha
Hahaha
That was fun Henk. Thanks
Hi there Kevin, it was good to have you aboard.
great music, and what a large variety of moveable bridges. i was wondering about your weather when i saw the water look like it had been stirred up.
I already thought you too would love the Ibiza Sensations from Luis del Villar. Most canals and rivers have muddy looking water over here. In part (5,6 or 7 - cannot tell at the moment) you will see and hear me talk about how clean the salt water looks like)
Hi. Nice to watch your trip. What music were you listened during pass bridges? That after ibiza.
Ibiza Sensations from Luis del Villar. Go check: th-cam.com/users/IbizaSensationsbyLuisdelVillar

Hello again, Michael, Thank you for letting me know. I really appreciate
Top Video Henk... .. .
Thank you Mark, I appreciate that you let me know you liked it.
Jo's booked in middelburgh is normally beat price.its a floating shipwinkle
Jos Boone? Yep. sharp priced but in these grazy moments nobody has 'best prizes' or one must load 2,500 liters (I made a call: € 1,70 per liter)
Another enjoyable video, thank you. How much fuel per hour does your boat use while cruising like that?
(Gerbrandy)
During the WW2, Churchill said to Gerbrandy while they were on a balcony: "Spring is in the air".
Thanks wow 264 gallons of diesel is USA is about 1725.00 US it's around 4.35 here per gallon 8/23 interesting anyway. I wouldn't want that bill every week or so.
Just out of curiosity what is the maximum draft of boats taking your route? oh and by the way just found your channel today great job so far
Hi and thank you for the compliment! The canals (most in The Netherlands) are between 3.5m and 4.5m deep. I have met some sailboatd with a draft of 2.2m. And the barges go op to 3.0m deep when they are loaded.
At 11:40 you passed by on the port side some houses that all had pool ladder looking things on the front… are they there just in case, or the people who live there usually moor their boats on the side of the waterway? just curious to know their purpose honestly (as couldn’t see any boats moored anywhere nearby)…
Your zest for life is still contagious:) luckily that hasn’t changed, very much looking forward to the rest of the tour:)
@@MVLadyLiselot Good point Henk-Jan. These don't look like the ladders that are integrated into the quay.
'sping is in the air'. why should I ? 🤣
And? How high did you jump? ;-)
BUT it's always good to have one. ;-)
Crusing the waterways is free. There are some cities that charge a fee (see my video on Haarlem) and also Amsterdam does. But most of the times it is free. So feel free to come over.
The illuminated 120 is the distance in decimeters (120 = 12m) between the water surface and the bridge deck.
what music in background during the cruise?
Well not only during the cruise, but almost every day... www.youtube.com/@IbizaSensationsbyLuisdelVillar
@@MVLadyLiselot thank you for your answer but I meant that kind of smooth (jazz?) music in the background at 9:25. It doses not sound like Ibiza Sensations :)
@@whippetos, It's www.youtube.com/@MrAlexJohnsen you hear on the background. I found him on Insta and asked him if it was ok, if I used his music as background music for my video's and he agreed. This is the song: th-cam.com/video/swFuR3BOM7I/w-d-xo.html

Thanx Rob, it's a podcast and it was free to download at that moment. Whilest uploading, youtube checks the copyright and it seems that it passed the test. But I will be careful nevertheless. Thankx for pointing that out to me.
