It's 2am, 9-26-16, getting ready to sleep but then, out of curiosity, I decided to check up on the Tch15 piano finalists and then cliqued onto this violin finalist video, not expecting much. From the violin solo opening I sense a very expressive romantic soul. What a beautiful violin he has too. His velvety tone makes me think he is playing a Stradivarius. I don't know who he is but his approach to this popular work is so different. His subdued tone is surprising and full of charm . The orchestra was too strong and wasn't conforming to his unique softer way of playing, but that is to be expected given little preparation the two has had. He plays as if he is in a chamber orchestra, and not with a full orchestra. I welcome his humble singing tone. The fast 3rd movement showed his weakness, a total mess, not ready for big time playing. He isn't mature yet for heavy Russian music. But his Mozart was spot on charming.
Is this performance the best "Tchaikovsky D major op 35" one out here in youtube? I'v seen a bunch and i can't find any other better but my knowledge about this is not a big of a deal. What a god damn perfection.
Best Performance ? For sure this one is superior ! Spivakov's teachers were Lubov Siegal, Vienamin Sher, Yuri Yankelevich, and David Oistrakh and Kogan :)
Reditions of this concerto by Midori, Oistrakh, and Spivakov are my top picks and are really worth of checking out. They are all available on TH-cam. For me Midori's 1995 performance with Berlin Phil under the baton of Claudio Abbado is just purely out of this world! Musically and technically it absolutely puts in awe every single time I listen to it.
TH-cam is blessed with having recordings of this famous work "on tap" by all the top artists both past and present. He does very well but IMHO still has some way to go before Tchaikovsky's passion filters through and engages me emotionally as well as intellectually.
Agree. For me he lacks some of the "rawness" that I heard in other masters. Like he was holding back the passion/power instead of giving all he got. It also could be a technique or confidence issue. Of course this was a competition performance so maybe he was trying not to make a mistake. Anyway I wish him best of luck in his development as a concertizing violinist.
i dont play , but watching him, eyes closed, sounds so well practiced, not rushed and clear. The orchestra is loud, maybe put a mic on him. I always wonder what the composer would think

I like his interpretation of the piece. It’s very warm and passionate❤ You can’t stop listening once you start listening to it 😌👂

The only thing about this video that makes me upset is the fact that the auditorium isn’t full. Absolutely incredible.
I love the violin's sound. He is also very handsome.
I think he did a good job even though the conductor was sort of rushing him before the cadenza!!
The orchestra plays amazing as well. Aahhhhhh much love for this piece

Anyway, great interpretation tho!!
Sibelius one is his favorite piece.

So if there wasn't the first prize awarded, where were all the top tier gone back then? Where were they?
There wasn't first prize according to wiki. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Tchaikovsky_Competition
I hate your channel put the ads in the middle of these marvelous performances 😡
ads should not be put in the middle of the video if it's about music. it ruins the mood and immersion
Super play~
If you can play it slow, you can play it fast. Benny should play at 10million notes a second.
