I met Larry Lawrence in late 2007 on a short film shoot after I had paged at TPIR and he told me his story of being on the show a few years prior when Rod Roddy was announcing. So amazing he got called down again and won big this time around!
This is Amazing. I have been trying for 40 years to go this Show, and I watched every single day, but never got a ticket, and some people have even won two cars going there.
If you haven't noticed, today's shows are almost exclusively reserved for minorities and gays. Let them know if you fall into that category, you'll have a much better chance. Also, you're almost a shoe in if you're 4-6 inches taller than Drew.
Kathleen (fourth contestant on stage) won $10K on "Grand Game" in 1984. She also nearly strangled Bob Barker by jumping on his back. Years since first appearance: 28.
I thought when I read the comment it was the double showcase winner rule but when I read it unfortunately he wouldn’t have won both showcases until the next season
I just read on his FB page that the Monte Carlo looked good on stage, but in reality was a POS. He tried to give it back but the dealer refused, stating it was an "as-is" sale. He threatened to complain to ABC so the dealer fixed it and threw in a couple grand on top. Then, it got stolen a few weeks later and the insurance cut him a check for almost $20k lol 😆 The Mazda on the other hand was apparently great. He upgraded the piston engine to a rotary and drove it for three years and 50k miles.
Uliana (the second contestant to go up on stage) was on Price in August 2002. She won a car on "Dice Game". Unfortunately, the car is gone due to an accident in 2004. Years since first appearance: 10.
For the 50th, they should be on the road like they did for the 30th in Vegas! And I think Vegas would be a great spot to do the special! And I think it should be a two hour special with the Million Dollar Spectacular format
According to Pamela's (the first contestant to go up on stage) shirt, she was a Price contestant back in 1976, when she won an airplane. Years since first appearance: 36.

i think the 72 car and bonus game thay had sitting to side waiting hor that guy to make it up and if he didnt very last person up wouldve played. he was probably only 1 from 1st show still alive that they could find and looked back to see what he played and won.
I watched an episode from February of 2023, Drew looked disheveled, acted like he didn't care at all anymore, almost like he's trying to get them to let him go. Glad to see he's got pep in his step here.
I would disagree with that. Pamela Howard said she was on in 1976 and if you remember there was the rainbow wheel that was the original showcase showdown although not called that had debuted in '75 and then you also had the Current SS that premiered in '76. So I would assume that there was some form of the SS around that time.
I wonder when this was taped... The doors were different in season 40 than they were here.... I'm pretty sure that the door design that they show here didn't make it's first appearance until season 41.... I could be wrong though....
Dizettia (the third contestant to go up on stage) won $13K on Plinko and spun $1 on the wheel (total $14K) in the early 1980s. Years since first appearance: Over 20.
I'm sure it's been discussed to death but I haven't seen it. Why in the more recent shows don't they use the product brand name when describing the items? For example, describing Rice-a-Roni as just "a 6.9 ounce box of rice and vermicelli" sounds silly.
even I remembered in a show episode a contestant chose and said "the Listerine" and Drew corrected it as "the pocket packs". It's due to the manufacturer or the show restriction, I guess.
