REMEMBER: Henry VII started the Anglican Church, for whatever reason. He accepted the authority of the pope like all Christians until it conflicted with his interests. He was even awarded by the pope the title: "Defender of the Faith" because he was so faithful! The Anglican Church admits their papal past! The Anglican Church changes its beliefs constantly to the whims of the modern world. It's even subject to the English monarch! Christ built His Church on the rock of Peter, not the Queen!
But God uses the instruments available to serve his purpose and He has used the Anglican Church mightily throughout it’s history. Feel superior if you wish. That blessing of God remains true
In the Catholic tradition, each sacrament performs and highlights one of Jesus' teachings. For example, the Eucharist is not only a thanksgiving, but Jesus' sacrifice; Penance/Reconciliation is the act of love and forgiveness; the 10 Commandments teach us to love God above all things and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Exactly I really want that day to come
Surely the Anglican Church, founded by an English monarch in the 1500s, is not the same Church founded by Christ in A.D. 30. That's a historical impossibility, my friend.
Wrong. He grabbed the church of Christ in the 1500s to make his own version.
There's a distinction that should be made, however. Although Anglo-Catholics claim those things, only Roman Catholics can claim their roots to St. Peter in Rome, where the first community of Christians started. It is not a fallacy to say it is already implied in its historical premise.
that will take place in December
Lastly, St. Irenaeus, who was taught by St. Polycarp (a disciple of St. John the Apostle), stresses that Christians must be united to the Church of Rome to maintain apostolic Tradition. He was the Bishop of Lyons between 180-200 A.D. I can give you the full quote which includes the list of the popes until his time along with citation. This is history, and the history of the Christian religion professes Roman Catholicism.
I agree with you, but, the video did not say that Anglicans would actually receive the Holy Eucharist. God Bless.
They didn't receive the eucharist, but the rest is indeed troubling...
THAT WILL TAKE PLACE IN DECEMBER
Also if Clement was merely consulted based on his greater knowledge and not on authority then why did he state at the closing of his letter: "If anyone disobey the things which have been said by Him through Us, let them know that they will involve themselves in transgression and in no small danger."
Surely if he was none other than a prestigious (non-apostle) bishop then he had no authority to even claim that Christ as he said "spoke through Us." Imagine the Bishop of Ephesus trying to say that!
you're. thinking backwards. the anglicans were created because Henry VII. It doesnt make sense to me why someone would want to be in a church that wasnt started by Jesus himself.
Remember, the New Evangelization, is also meant to help Europe remember its Christian roots. Christians may be divided amongst ourselves, but we are united against secularism and relativism.
Say, I found a cheese factory and entrust it to my son when I die. When he dies, he does the same, and when his son dies, he does the same. And on and on, ect. Now, say one son, down the line, has a brother that disagrees with the cheese-making methods going back since the founding of the company and decides to take 1/3 of the cheese factories and start a new cheese business. Would the customers of the old company say the founder started that company too? So it is with the Anglican Church.
Ugh, I believe in Ecumenical dialogue, but how is Rowan William's opinion on the New Evangelization (of his heretical faith) helpful to our evangelization of our One, True, Holy, Catholic, and Apostlic faith!?
Further more the early Church has always aknowledged the primacy of the Roman Bishop over the whole Church (and authority rejected by Anglicanism and all Protestantism). In about 80 A.D., the Church at Corinth deposed its lawful leaders. The fourth pope, Clement I, was called to settle the matter even though John the Apostle was still alive and closer than him! (Continued on next comment...)
Why is it that every time some beautiful musical event happens in the Catholic Church we must embarrass ourselves with stupid turns of phrase? The Abbey choir did not practice "songs" when rehearsing the Papae Marcelli Mass. Good grief!
Jesus came to fulfill the Law (religion), and he gave Peter, the other 11 apostles, and Paul the authority to teach all the nations in His name and become living witnesses to the faith. Rituals cannot be separated from human life, nor from spiritual life. Is not prayer a form of ritual?
The one world religion/government takes another step.
They're already in the Catholic Church. Just not the Roman one.
There was no "Anglicanism" before Henry VIII, and no "Lutheranism" before Luther, all Christians professed worldwide the majority of the Catholic doctrines. Even those non-Catholics (the Orthodox) still had legitimate apostolic Holy Orders. There were no secret hidden Lutherans or Anglicans or any resemblance of them before the 1500s. There's no historical basis for this. Read the writings of the early Church Fathers, what they believe is radically different.
None of the Protestant Churches even date back to the time of Christ, and then they have the audacity to claim that we, a Church stemming from the apostles through legitimate and historic Holy Orders corrupted the faith? I remind Protestants that there was no complete "bible" until the Roman Catholic Church infallibly compiled it definitively by the 400s. It is contradictory to place your trust in the bible without accepting the authority which put it together and determined its infalibility!
I know Catholic means "universal" but Protestant Churches do not maintain valid Holy Orders, therefore they cannot be successors of the apostles. Holy Orders has historically been passed down through a legitimate apostolic tradition as in the Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox, all those Bishops at the Council of Carthage was Catholic in the sense that they believed the apostolic faith with the authority received through the bishophoric which Catholics have maintained and Protestants have not.
