- Raiders rumors this week have been around the Raiders O-line and their struggles this season. Antonio Pierce wants change when it comes the play of the Raiders offensive line. The Raiders head coach called the Las Vegas Raiders O-Line “piss poor” and blamed the struggles of Zamir White on the big guys up front. Taliese Fuaga is killing it for the Saints at LT. I get Bowers is a stud, but we also needed to draft a left OT.
We wouldn't have beaten BAL without Bowers, stud o-lineman or no stud o-lineman. You draft the gamebreaker and fix the OL in a different way. These same players weren't this bad last season, we drafted a stud OG in rd 2 - we shouldn't be this bad. So if I'm AP I'm looking at my staff telling them they need to get it fixed, no matter how many hours need to go into it, no matter what consultants need to be hired, whatever conditioning needs to happen. Do we need an FA? I don't know, but the bottom line is we should be getting more out of the guys we have now.

We've had years of deficit picks on the O-line (Leatherwood) in the draft and with free agency signings like Andrus Peat and Whitehair. It's no secret how we got to this.

It a Zone scheme. you have to be able to jump cut and pick a hole- not just run with the flow of traffic. cmon now… its a collective effort- Im jot saying the Oline is playing well…. it takes A COLLECTIVE EFFORT

Guys remember the 2018 "Carr Insurance" O-line? Rodney Hudson, Kelechi Osemele, Gabe Jackson, Donald Penn, and Kolton Miller, it was almost perfect then. Our defense sucked though, it's always something!

I’ve always think we needed a C . James on every play gets pushed back and never the other way around.
I will say this the O-line doesn't get as many reps as they should in practice, but that's no excuse for poor effort and that's what we have seen for 2 games now. Anyone trying to put this on Zeus don't know ball.

You don't have to go full f-it. You plug this in and see if you can get some holes right away on the left side for the run game.
I think if we can get a solid LG in there working beside Miller he will get better on the outside. It's not some silver bullet fix, but I think it will help a little bit out of the gate, and get better over time. And if JPJ can come in and be a significant upgrade in the middle - which is a longshot with him coming off injury, then this could pan out into something nice.

Mumford at LT Glaze at RT JPJ at LG James at center and Parham at RG maybe try Meredith at center if James does not get his shit together in the run game.

Against the panthers, our O-line will look elite because their defense will wither by mid 3rd quarter. The numbers by Monday will be skewed so bad that they will be given a week off from scrutiny until after the browns game. Players need to step it up, and the coaches need to influence their play to their max potential. GO RAIDERS!!!

Colton Miller has been dominated thus far. Whitehair/Peat are struggling! No protection for Minshew's blindside! No holes being cleared for Zamir! Grade D-
If you watch the film, Kolton Miller is attacked on the left side (injured side) by the DE's. Most of them attack him on the outside only to roll or swim inside to the arm that doesn't have the strength to keep them back.
So it sounds like White isn’t seeing holes in their new zone blocking scheme. What really blows is that Josh Jacobs popped off 150 yards and Green Bay won with a backup qb. 😢

This was low key AP saying the players we brought in was for power, the backs that we have are for the power/gap scheme, but Getsy has been calling zone too much.
The offense line does need to play better no questions but the coordinators Job is utilizing the players strengths not beating your head against the wall expecting different results....

Play calling for this line needs to be "Pistol"- Shotgun - 2 tight ends in the back field - or roll out instantly - The line is going to get Minshew hurt. The line is risking the QB getting hurt constantly. Brock needs 12 catches this game at least. He is the bright spot. The only time they should be thinking of running is on 2nd and less than 3 yards to go. Minshew needs to complete passes of 5 yards or less constantly except on rollouts. He throws well on the run so they should be designing all the plays to work towards his strong suit.
It’s talent and scheme. Power is better especially for Zeus and JPJ will help at LG. KM injury not helping either
Drafting positions of need hasn’t been in the Raiders best interests the last few seasons of drafting, needs along the Oline and LB spot needed to be addressed earlier in the draft instead of banking on late round picks and UDFA!

The OL started slow last year, too. I watched a lot of ALL 22 last year. They were awful in the early part of last season. Remember how JJ8 was getting CRACKED as soon as he touched the ball?
The problem is that ANY changes in Oline requires time to rebalance the lines chemistry and timing. So even if we dump all our cap space and draft capital on upgrading the oline, it will still initially result in a poor performance. We need change but we need to build that chemistry.
Lets talk about making actual personel changes AFTER Carolina cause we went up against what is going to be one of the league leading defenses by the end of the season and honestly before that we went up against Mack and Bosa. Lets see what the Oline produces after this trap game. It will tell us more about who is actually up to snuff and who we can potentially replace.

Agree F. Raiders need a running game to keep the defense honest. But so far the ball carriers just charge into a great big muddle of linemen, barely getting a yard. No running game. The offensive line needs to make a hole. Without it, the quarterback gets sacked, depends too much on passing and that leads to interceptions. You could get a big star running back but without a front line blocking for him it wont work.
Zone blocking takes a couple years to get right, never worked because it needs to have same coaches, same players for a couple years, slowly implemented

Run game has nothing to do with the RB and everything to do with the O-line. Mason running great for 49'ers is a perfect example.

Oline needs to gain consistency. There's going to be strong dlines ready to bully any weak points. Rb will need to step up too, but oline benefits more the pass and run .

We've gotten bad resolves when considering a player's association with a coach as a reason to bring them on board. Should I mention Jimmy G. Let's forget how they (player/coach) knew each other, question is can the player we're seeking effectively perform at their position.
I would give the O-Line ONLY, I repeat ONLY the first quarter to show how effective they are. Anybody not performing, bench their butt. You can't leave non-performers on the field past the first quarter. You may need the rest of the game to clean up the mess.
Fourth quarter against the Ravens brings the O-Line up to a grade of D.
Panther's stats seem to show top 3 threats for the O-Line are; A'Shawn Robinson (DE), Shaq Thompson (LB), and Josey Jewell (LB).
D- at best, Colton Miller either kicks off the rust? Or gets benched

My O line would be Miller Munford Pharam Jpj and Glaze from left to right. Munford played well on the left side last year when Miller went down and i feel he is more comfortable on that side. Pharam would be a better center than James and JPJ would probably be your best run blocker.

Kolton is becoming too injury prone, & it takes him the off-season to recover, Munford gotta step up or get replaced by Glaze, Parham should be doing better since he’s back to playing his natural position, & we definitely need JPJ back in the lineup! How does one make a change when he has nothing to make a change with? You work with what you have and find a scheme that works. These issues along with the QB should have been addressed during the off season. But instead, they sat on 30 plus million. Real Raider fan since 76 living in reality.
You won't know what you have until the season starts. That when everything is on the table & all the starters play . But I do hear ya loud and clear ! I didn't think the o-line was going to play this poorly with Miller active
