Simplest way to decide: OM5 if for you film more primary with selfie camera in portrait mode for Tiktok (the tracking much better for this), Smooth 5 if you prefer back camera landscape mode filming for proper TH-cam video content.

waiting for these two gimble comparison for a long time, I have OM5, I love it I bought ZHIYUN Q3, but I don't have good experience with it, and now it's returned to ZHIYUN after-sales repair center, then I bought OM5 immediately, it's very convenient and solid, I love the magnetic clamp, because When I'm shooting, I can take it off to answer a phone or take a picture by hand or something must be done by hand. the extension pole is good for vlogger, gives you a longer distance and smaller face in the frame when shooting yourself. so I don't have to carry a extra one. Smooth 5, I have't had it yet, because Q3 make my heart dead!
I had OM 2 but with my iphone 13 pro max feels like is goin to crash out, so i was thinking about OM 5, but thanks for the video, i guess Smooth 5 is my best option for heavier phones
With the extension at the base you will lose access to controls no? That’s why I think that the extension above the handle works better, especially if you are using the selfie cam so you can see what you are getting in shot and you get that extra space between you
@@smartphonefilmmakingpro if you have an extension pole at the bottom you are pushing the controls further up. So if you need to press the buttons or use the joystick you have to drop the gimbal down. At least that’s what’s it’s like for me with my rs2 I have a 45cm boom extension that connects to the base, with the legs attached at the bottom. Gives me great angles but can’t change settings at those angles

Hey, bro, according your test, the payload for smooth 5 is 280g, but it can work well with iPhone 13 pro even added big lens, while osmo 5 whose payload is 290g, have some issues . I guese you make mistake, the payload of smooth 5 is 380g not 280g.
Just saw this reply. I did see the $200 price on thee video insert, but it felt like most of the discussion was really about the better protection of the Smooth 5's case vs the pouch for the OM5. I'd still give that point to the Smooth 5.
I _just_ bought a Feiyutech G6 Max. I have an iPhone 13 in an OtterBox Defender case. I had the OM5, but I found it couldn't handle the thick & heavy case very well. The Smooth 5 looks very nice if it can handle heavier phones (plus accessories). I haven't found the Smooth 5's weight capacity listed anywhere. So far, I'm finding the G6 Max a bit fiddly and very obviously not made by native English speakers - lots of misspelled and missing words in the docs, app, & on the device. I have a point & shoot superzoom camera that I hope to use with the gimbal, too. So I think I'll be keeping the G6 Max.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and bought first the OM 5 because of those many good reviews. i didn´t care so much about the limitations in the Android App as long you can also use the native cam app with the gimbal. The S22 ultra without a case has about 238g and Iĺl did my best to balance it with the OM5 gimbal. At the end, after 4 days testing , I have send the product back and bought the G6 max . No problems with the weight anymore - can use it with a "go pro" and other compact cams - needs a little more time to balance - but over all "it works " and the app isn´t bad at all .

I'm considering the Zhiyun Smooth 5 to improve the stability of my movement shots. How will I attach the wireless mic receiver to the iPhone while filming? It looks to me like the lightning port is covered by the Zyiyun Smooth 5 device. Must I use the internal iPhone mic when using a handheld gimbal?

Hi. I'm basically interested to do cover songs; however I have to record myself with no one helping me out. In other words, shoot selfie videos of myself. Can the Zhiyun Smooth 5 achieve this? If yes, can it track my movements? Can you explain in detail how this function works? All i wanted to do is to get a device which can help me to record myself without any external people, but i don't wan to be seen holding a selfie-stick; looking for hands-free selfie vlog.
DJI Mimo App doesn't fully work now so u can't use it's story mode or back camera at times on the Android phones. DJI CS dont know what to do. And I'm left at a loss since I'm an Android user. So I'm looking to swap to the other brand. Can you guys tell me if it works without issues on Android after the android12 update? TIA

I just got my gimbal zhiyun q3 but the screw to lock the arm doesn't seem to work at all is that normal? I mean the screw doesn't seem to have any purpose, i tighten it but the arm is still free to move when pushed a little Plz help

most gimbals would give you about the same stabilization. you want to take other things more into consideration, like size, weight of gimbal and size weight of your phone. bigger gimbals are not easy to pocket but smaller gimbals dont hold big phones well.

No issue with the roll motor being in the axe of the vision (disturbing the look or touch to the iphone screen I mean) sometimes ? It seems by conception that it is more prompt to be the case. Also, can u easily plug a mic via a lightning port ? And is it compatible with Filmic Pro ?
Gimbals are going through transitional period, most of the ones available are not designed to carry the weight of the new phones like the 13 pro max, i got om5 and it is shaky and not smooth which is the opposite of what it is supposed to do, new phones became heavy and big and with protective cases they are even heavier... I returned my om5 and will do with hand holder mini tripod as new phones have amazing stablizers already

i think it just depends on the phone you have.. if you have a super heavy one and plan to use add on lenses, go with the smooth 5, for run and gun the smooth 4 is great

I prefer the black & matel & professional design, do not like osmo design in grey color.
i like the payload and the 360 degree spin is huge for me
To my knowledge it is not compatible with Filmic pro yet, and the fact that you can't plug anything into the phone plug is a big drawback to me.

I have the same case and both handle it pretty well… on a solid floor the selfie stick isn’t unstable at all.

It looks like the Zhiyun Smooth 5 blocks the view of the phone slightly, where the OM5 does not. Is that really the case?

If you don‘t use their app.. you can use whatever resolution your phone has to offer

i did not have issues with that. you can plug in a mic when shooting vertically.. yes it is compatible with filmic pro
Gimbals are going through transitional period, most of the ones available are not designed to carry the weight of the new phones like the 13 pro max, i got om5 and it is shaky and not smooth which is the opposite of what it is supposed to do, new phones became heavy and big and with protective cases they are even heavier... I returned my om5 and will do with hand holder mini tripod as new phones have amazing stablizers already

i don't have a g6 max, so hard to say.. but generally speaking I would go with the smooth 5

OM 5 does not able to work with iPhone 13 Pro, I just return to amazon, the om5 had motor noise when attached with 240g iphone 13 pro, the only concern is smooth 5 weight 2.2 lb that almost 3 time heavy than OM 5. Do you know smooth 5 weight?

So you preferred the OM4 but the Smooth 5. Since both are currently available on Amazon (at different price points of course), any comparison between those two? Is the Zhiyun worth the extra money, or is the DJI the better bang for the buck?
i think it just depends on the phone you have.. if you have a super heavy one and plan to use add on lenses, go with the smooth 5, for run and gun the smooth 4 is great

At first Thank you for this will informative tutorial , as usual . Question 1 : The OM5 has small angle Of Tilting ( contrary of OM4 ) , does Smooth 5 is better or has also this down side . Question 2 : Dji Mimo app provides more options via i phone mobiles than Android mobiles ( like Zooming & Slow - mo ) : do these lacks exist in Smooth 5 app ? Thank you again

I don#t think a gimbal is what you need. sounds like a basic tripod would be the best option for you!
