I love how everyone who decided to leave Buzzfeed have maintained their relationships and made their own community, I love seeing everyone figure out what they want to do!
Wait this is actually a pretty good idea... all the ex-buzzfeeders should work on some big collaborative project together! You all made buzzfeed so great, imagine what you could do with even more creative freedom!
All of the old school buzzfeed members (Ex: Safiya, Candice, Freddie, Chantel, Britany, etc) came together and started a TH-cam channel. Then NO ONE would watch buzzfeed

I think the great thing about buzzfeed is it's a starting off point for people with little to no experience in this field, and they can learn so much, but it is limiting. People leaving buzzfeed is a sign of them growing as a creator, and it shows they don't need that company behind them anymore, not that they hate buzzfeed.

People are already upset about the recent group leaving (Candace, Safiya, etc.) but if Buzzfeed lost Eugene or any of the popular Try Guys I think they'd lose the majority of their audience. They have like a cult following at this point and bring in most of Buzzfeed's views.

If he left, Try Guys would literally not be a thing anymore lol. I feel like you can't replace a try guy and I feel like none of the 4 would ever do it without each other. also Sarah Cambridge I heard the same thing, I think i saw it on a comment on Chris's why I left video. The Try Guys are literally the best part of BuzzFeed and they always have been (LadyLike was / is close second) but if Try Guys quit / left I feel like Buzzfeed would lose a significantly more amount of viewers than they have already lol

You should never let yourself be defined by a company. They will tell you that you are the best of the best in order to manipulate you in order to stay, but trust me they would have no trouble at all firing you out of the blue. Good for you, for doing things for yourself. Follow your gut and always follow your own path.
A lot of my favourite Buzzfeeders have left lately, and almost all of them seem to say the same things about it. And, honestly, the atmosphere there sounds unhealthy. I don't think a workplace that has that much anxiety, pressure and seclusion is a healthy one in the longterm. From what I've picked up, it seems very isolating (which I guess has the pros of really connecting with the people you work with?) I wish all of you so well! Buzzfeed, while being a media giant, isn't the be all end all of the internet production world. I'm so excited to see all of your content, Saf's content, Michelle's content. All of you are such great personalities and a joy to watch. Buzzfeed seems like it's been a great launching platform, but I'm way more interesting in the content that you guys are making independent of it. probably bek I can't say for sure why buzzfeed won't allow their employees freedom outside the company...I'm not sure what'll happen if they do. its definitely a fun place to work like she said you learn a lot of things you'll meet the best people you'll ever meet in your life...though not all why I left buzzfeed videos are because the company's system, some are because they want individuality like Candace's, its really frustrating because you know the company will be a great help in publishing what you want, but at same time its system stops you from doing it. I hope someday there'll be a way where everyone can be happy with this whole thing. I love buzzfeed and its people. I don't wanna change that
probably bek it's the new millennial workplace. In the old days ppl would work at a company for 30 years, working up. good work was rewarded with trust and increased responsibility. Now it's like work your ass off until you find something better or you get let go and replaced.
The Buzzfeed aspect aside, you gave some wonderful advice in this video! Too often we are afraid to admit our dream job is no longer our dream job. It isn't because the job or company is bad. We have just changed, grown, and need something different. Thank you for that reminder.

Candace I'm inspired by your raw honesty and the way you reflected on your past experiences. Out of all the "Why I left BuzzFeed" videos, you are without a DOUBT the one person that to me, seems like they truly appreciated their time at BuzzFeed. They would have been lucky to keep you! You spoke with so much care and respect for BuzzFeed rather than dragging them down, not just on a profession level but a personal level. Keep on being you!
I think all the people that leave and have good strong morals should come together to build a super company that is only about making the best content out there.. with all the creative freedom that amazing artists deserve.

But on a serious note, Candace I admire your boldness to follow your heart and I am very glad that we as subscribers can get to know more about you on a more personal level on your channel. I know it was your personal experience with BuzzFeed, but I appreciated your commentary on the difficulty and stress of quitting a job and/or turning in your notice to a boss you respect/like and leaving a company you've been with for a while. I feel like older generations don't get it when we stress out when we change jobs after 2 years because that doesn't seem like a long time for them, but in our day and age it is because companies and corporations don't have the loyalty to their employees like they used to in the past... I had a "quarter life crisis" (dubbed by my friend) when I turned 25 last year when my boss in retail told me he thought I should get into teaching and leave retail and I'd never thought about the education field, and now one year later, I'm in a Master's program and getting paperwork squared away to start student teaching in the fall! It's important to keep perspective that life is crazy and may take you on a path you never imagined, but if it's not what you planned, that's not necessarily a bad thing! ☺️ Can't wait to catch up on all your new PopSugar stuff. I've loved seeing you and Saf collaborate ❤️❤️

I have a really good job and make really good money where I live (in North Carolina) but in a month, I have an opportunity to move to California and start over and try and do what I want to do and I'm taking it as scary and different it is. THANK YOU. I'm currently a junior in college and changed my major this semester. I felt HORRIBLE for changing it as well as a failure. I got my friends and family hyped on the idea of me being a computer scientist. I still find computer science interesting but I just wasn't happy programming. You made me feel like it's not the end of the world and to really just go with my gut feeling :) I will be studying computer information systems next semester :D I love working with tech!

I quit a job and disappointed 2 bosses I absolutely loved so I could follow my heart and live in China with my husband! Unfortunately those bosses have never responded to any calls or emails from me since then, but after a year I finally don't feel bad anymore. My point is - quitting sucks balls.

Thank you so much for this, Candace! I know it was your personal experience with BuzzFeed, but I appreciated your commentary on the difficulty and stress of quitting a job and/or turning in your notice to a boss you respect/like and leaving a company you've been with for a while. I feel like older generations don't get it when we stress out when we change jobs after 2 years because that doesn't seem like a long time for them, but in our day and age it is because companies and corporations don't have the loyalty to their employees like they used to in the past... I had a "quarter life crisis" (dubbed by my friend) when I turned 25 last year when my boss in retail told me he thought I should get into teaching and leave retail and I'd never thought about the education field, and now one year later, I'm in a Master's program and getting paperwork squared away to start student teaching in the fall! It's important to keep perspective that life is crazy and may take you on a path you never imagined, but if it's not what you planned, that's not necessarily a bad thing! ☺️ Can't wait to catch up on all your new PopSugar stuff. I've loved seeing you and Saf collaborate ❤️❤️

I needed this. I have a really good job and make really good money where I live (in North Carolina) but in a month, I have an opportunity to move to California and start over and try and do what I want to do and I'm taking it as scary and different it is. raristudies Michelle explained that. Buzzfeed allows personal channels, but you have to give Buzzfeed the right of first refusal. Any idea she had, she had to give them first. If they weren't interested, she could do it on her channel. She just couldn't do collabs

THANK YOU. I'm currently a junior in college and changed my major this semester. I felt HORRIBLE for changing it as well as a failure. I got my friends and family hyped on the idea of me being a computer scientist. I still find computer science interesting but I just wasn't happy programming. You made me feel like it's not the end of the world and to really just go with my gut feeling :) I will be studying computer information systems next semester :D I love working with tech!

I quit a job and disappointed 2 bosses I absolutely loved so I could follow my heart and live in China with my husband! Unfortunately those bosses have never responded to any calls or emails from me since then, but after a year I finally don't feel bad anymore. My point is - quitting sucks balls.
