The interviewer was asking genuine questions and he was well within his rights to interview the kids outside without the permission of the organisation. If he was interviewing them inside then I would agree with the teacher to get their permission first. They are well educated but the way kid answered the interviewer saying they are the property of PW is not the right way to answer that question and you know it.
