Hey Fam! Hope you like the vid. Crazy fun project to make. Just an FYI, if you are building along or just want the steps, I added timestamps to each step in the description as well as a parts list. Thanks for watching!

Thanks always wanted to forge never thought I could afford to but... Today on my 46 birthday I built a forge... Had to do it a bit different but used the dryer steps for the tuyere and it worked, new to the channel but love it...

I'm looking to build MY forge and my idea is shamed by your simple yet effective project. I'm glad I haven't started yet.

the pump for an air mattress requires less tinkering than the hair dryer and you can get a battery-operated one if you want to make things portable.

I know this is from 3 years ago, but I've just recently found your channel and I must say, I'm shocked but super impressed with your video and "acting" progression. In the newer videos, you're very engaging and enthusiastic about the projects you work on. Comparing that to the older beginning videos, you seem really depressed (coming from someone who has made the same progression in my own life).
Cl3ver, your videos have made me so happy and got my noggin gears working again to get back into doing skill protects like this that make me happy. I share your videos with all my friends and have probably binge watched nearly all of them this past month. So I say to the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for bringing Skill Tree into my life!! Your videos are great and you have gained another Skill Monkey!

Just finished making this forge yesterday. It's really awesome, and for a homemade forge it works great!
Tips of advice for anyone attempting this from my experience:
    1. Everything but the clay can be found at Lowes. You might also find luck at Home depo etc.
    2. If you can't find normal clay like in the video(my issue lol), fire clay powder works extremely well. I found a 50 lb bag for around 15 bucks at my local masonry/brick layer. The mixture for the clay I used was 50% clay powder, 50% sand (any kind is good) and add water till it makes a ball but isn't soupy.
    3. When claying your forge, add about an inch of clay on all your edges, then make sure to pack it down, I did it with my fingers and it worked great.
    4. DON'T USE BRIQUETTES for firing. They shoot sparks everywhere and burn up extremely fast. a normal campfire is 100% better for firing the clay. If you need fuel use hardwood lump charcoal instead.
    5. A shopvac is great instead of a hairdryer if you have that, just be warned they put out alot more force, so try and regulate your air input till the coals are red hot and have little flame shooting out, if its sparks city its too hot, no flames too cold.
My overall cost for the whole project was around 85$ USA. this was awesome to build ty Clever!

I know this is an older video now, but I recently been marathoning you and Living Anachronism because I'm getting back into LARPing after a few years and love seeing that there's some great resources nowadays for people. BUT, before I got back into the LARP hobby, I've been trying to figure out how to make a backyard kiln for pottery, and honestly this might work perfectly for what I was wanting as a non-pit pit fire kiln, I'll just have to figure out a way to make it a little taller

Great use for cheap nickel plated buckles (for leather stuff) . I blacken them by first burning of the crome and then dipping them in lindseed oil to make them black.

Honestly, it's like you've made a video for every single thing I wish I knew how to build, so I just wanted to say I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel!
I spent a few days trying to find a leather armor template that I liked because I thought making a tailor fitted, custom one was too difficult, or at least that's the impression I got from the videos I watched, and the other option are videos that just give you a pre-made template, so finding your video was like an ah-HA moment!
I've already shared your channel with a few of my friends that wanted to get into leatherwork, and will continue to do so as you are now my go-to leatherwork channel! Thank you so much for this quality content!

This is more for people who find this video later, since Cl3ver made the Hell Pig (gas forge), and is probably not going to revert to a coal forge. haha
Couple things for coal forges; you can pack actual forge coal with water into a mound; this'll help keep the heat in with your work piece run through it.
Some coals form clinkers (impurities that clump up into little balls and crap), some will fall through the grate during cleaning; instead of the T-fitting, if you use a Wye fitting with the angled portion pointed upward with the blower connected there, you can, like the T, just remove the bottom cap for cleaning. This will keep hot clinkers from possibly going down the tube towards your blower.
For the bellows/blower, you can get simple hand crank ones, even files to 3D print your own. I personally prefer hand cranked blowers for the control. The Wye pipe fitting becomes more important when most of your forge plumbing is PVC or ABS plastics, or if you use a plastic blower. 😛

would love for you to make a drinking stein! Try to make it out of glass. With that forge you have you practically have all the tools for glass blowing! Keep up the great work love your videos!

The best part of making your first forge is making your first pair of tongs.
Mostly because you need a pair of tongs to make your tongs, lol.

A friend of mine gave me a crank blower for my forge those things cost big bucks my brother didn’t know how expensive of an item this is because the friend dropped it off at my brothers who lived closer than I do. But still my brother heard me talk about the price of those crank billows he was like your kidding me I could have sold this for an easy thousand? Damn your friend is an extremely nice guy.
