- This Food Packet Assault is a lightweight restricted calorie 24 hour ration. Issued for up to 10 days in the field, it contains approx 1,550 calories and comes in 6 different menus. Used during non-resupply assault and recon missions where pack weight reduction and ease of eating on-the-go is a priority. Huge thank you to Jeff Hooper for making this one happen. He sent in 3 menus. Part 1 of 3 of a series.

This channel serves as the original purpose of the Ethernet, sharing knowledge. Steve, you are doing god's job here, by documenting all these rations and other rare stuff. Your channel is a museum. An internet museum, where people can come and see all those pieces of history and even look inside. You are documenting rarest of things on video, thereby saving bits of history, which are often forgotten.

I was born in ‘79. My dad was in the army national guard and I remember him bringing these exact MRE’s home. My friends would come over and we would open several of them during our night camping out in our back yards. We would dress like Rambo lol. Brings back good old memories. Thanks for sharing brother.

Steve1989MREInfo Anything that's freshly cooked. Cooks yourself a nice juicy steak, I would love watching you eat that. Pasta, meatloaf, anything MREs may have but freshly cooked. If you are not good at cooking, I wouldn't mind watching you eat a restaurant meal at a diner or something.
If you have trouble eating fresh food, maybe start off with some TV dinner or something.

I think MRE collecting is pretty cool. Its a historical item but the memory is the actual taste and eating experience. So theres a dilemma between keeping it and eating it. I agree with eating it.

I just got an idea for your videos. :-) That jerky really looks like chocolate and it made me think of a game show for some strange reason. LOL What's Steve eating now? Like one of those shows on the History Channel that used to have the trivia questions before each commercial break. Show some unidentifiable piece of food from one of the kits and have people guess what it is and which kit it's from, while you take a break to open or talk about something else. Give multiple choices with some joke answers. You could use footage from your old videos.

Yeah, dried meat can save for years... but decades is asking a bit much.
Speaking of which, surprised one doesn't find more picked food items in these rations. Probably because they don't want the soldiers thinking that they're eating survivalist food.
