I used to go to Wimbledon Speedway straight from school to save seats for my Mum and Dad in the late 1940s. Ronnie Green was the track/club owner and he used to throw his hat in the air after we sang “two, four ,six, eight who do we appreciate, D O N S Dons. From memory the team was Ronnie Moore, Cyril Brine, Cyril Maidment, Oliver Hart (leg trailer), Lloyd Goffe and US rider Ernie Rocco who unfortunately was killed during an away match. We went to Wembley to see Jack Young win two finals in a row (1952/53?) during the first one Australian Jack Biggs won his first four races and only had to come third in the last to be champion but he came last and lost the run off to winner Jack Young with Split Waterman coming second. We later had Geoph Marden from NZ and Alec Statham join up. Champions Wembley had Bill Kitchen as captain, Tommy Price and Fred Williams both of whom became World Champions as dud Ronnie Moore and later Barry Briggs..wonderful times!
Two of the all time speedway greats. They are both now in their 70`s, hopefully enjoying their retirements. Great memories.
Peter Whitehall Ronnie Moore one of the best riders ever

I forgotten mention the team captain was Norman Parker and Arch Windmill made up the team.
Absolutely idolized Ronnie Moore as a kid
Odd that B Briggs restarted the interview a couple of minutes in, it wasn’t clear that he needed to. Capable interviewer, though
