I bought a crate LS7 when I found out they were still available from a Pontiac dealer in 83 .I decided I’d build a clone so I bought a 70 coupe in 91 .I’ve got a couple of M22s all I need now is the money to do it and the stamina to do the labor(im 66 now ) Time flys when your trying to make ends meet
I got a bigggg smile on my face as soon as you started that Rat Motor up...killer...thanks for the video this vette with an true LS7 is awesome ! gm pride
My 72 convertable 's second owner Camille Wanna from Ottawa replaced his 350 with an LS-7 an M-22 and 4.56 it was the fastest drag car in Ottawa Ontario
GM did produce an LS7 Corvette in Desember 1969, maybe they use a l88 car that was driven fro Los Angeles to Detroit by Paul Van Valkenburgh,a writer from Magazine Sport Car Graphic
But it looked nothing like this. The person that built this car built it to be a 454 version of the L88 and that's not what Chevrolet had in mind at all. It would have been more similar to the LS6 that did appear in 1971.
@@thud9797 the guy who ordered the car in 69 ordered an LS7. GM printed all the promo brochures then pulled it at the last minute a few months before he was to take delivery. He was so upset he said if GM aren't going to sell me one I'll build my own, above is near enough what he created .
I will say I am truly a Ford guy... that being said this car is one the baddest cars ever produced. some of the options available from Chevy just blow my mind.
You could really idle the engine down to 900 rpm. There's Holley manuals that you can buy to tell you how to adjust the carburetor correctly. Or, you could just find someone who knows how to do it. You might want to find someone who knows how to run the valves and fix exhaust leaks. That engine could sound and probably run 1000x better if you just knew how to tune it.
Good observation - the air pan was pushing down on the accelerator pump jet causing it to idle at 2k. Fixed now and idling at 900. Replacement OK Kustom header installed . Valves adjusted.
You Are One Lucky Guy, You Know That? I Take It That THAT Corvette Is The 454/460! NOT The 454/390! YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT! FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY HORSEPOWER!!! AGAIN, FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY HORSEPOWER!! THIS IS THE HOLY GRAIL, THE FRANCISCA SARPONG OF 454 CORVETTES!! If I Was You Dude, And I Wish I Was, I'd Be Hanging Onto That Corvette. And Not Only That, But It's A CONVERTIBLE Too! I Like To Call It A "CORVERTIBLE" Haha! I Myself Had A Yellow T-Top '68 With The 427/390 4 Speed And That Was A Screamfest! I Can Just Only IMAGINE What Your 460 Would Be Like! WOW!!! 😠 YOU LUCKY SONOFABITCH YOU!!! GOD I WISH I WAS YOU!!! UGGH!!
It was advertised at 460 hp stock form with the right intake headers and carb they put well north of 500 hp they were only avail as long blocks and there basically a iorn block long stroke zl1 same cam same compression
Why are you crossing l88 and ls7 parts why not make one or the other ? They never made a ls7 corvette it was a over the counter race engine they did make a l88 corvette though but i beleive the last year was 69 its a really nice car just doesnt make any sence
Trying to show what the car might have looked like and obviously well researched with mostly all the correct parts, it obviously hauls ass and is an interesting conversation piece so what's not to love? Think it makes perfect sense to build something in the factory style like this.

It was never officially made at the time due to too-high emissions...

That was what GM stated the HP. Motor was built by Bill King racing engines . It is over 500hp
