- Showcases the diverse history and architectural traditions represented by 117 churches throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, North Dakota and Minnesota. Prairie Public's video crew filmed prairie spires, onion domes, and steeples through four seasons. "Prairie Churches" explores the role churches have in sustaining the history and culture of the vanishing rural landscape of the prairie. Often the first community structure to be built and the last to close its doors, these landmarks represent the hopes and dreams of early settlers and the congregations that currently occupy them.

I love the mixture of all the different congregations with their different backgrounds and church buildings.
I'm English, never been to the US, nor do I consider myself a Christian, but I feel an almost overwhelming spiritual connection to these northern prairie Churches. This programme was very interesting & very well put together. Thank you for posting.
“Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling O sinner, come home.”~Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling
“Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”~1 Timothy 2:4
May the Lord bless you.
I believe we need to keep our children to learn about Jesus n respect n Love each other. I Love Churches! I'm a Viking Lutheran baptized n confirmed. Rolf Berg say's it on here.
A beautiful production in every way. It was a privilege to be part of it along with members of the Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus.
Enjoyed the film. Brought back A lot of wonderful memories.
Sad the ones that have fallen into disrepair and neglect, imagine all that them walls have heard and seen. Each of them, everywhere. I drive alot and makes me curious when I drive by them, and most houses too. How many Christmas miracles have they seen with kids full of wonder? Loving people lovin, lonely people crying, laughs, meals, occasions, life and death, births and marriages... How many people have travelled through them doors? People that aren't anyone to anybody and everyone to somebody... If walls could talk. This film captured that feeling
I do not know a better life than pastoring small rural churches.
Thanks!

BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES
A wonderful documentary.
Incredible documentary! Thank you!
I love this show!
The music soothes me!
This is just beautiful. Part of my heritage. My parents went to churches like this. I remember Glueckstal church somewhere between Dawson and Napoleon, ND. Grandparents buried there.. I went there a couple time as a child, and funerals too. It wasn't a fancy church..
Very relaxing and interesting show!
Amazing that this was done. It reminds me of the Abbey in Richardton, ND.
Happy days and love to you all
OMG! I love this!! And I don't even attend church!
I'm from Minnesota and years back when I lived there again for a while I was awe-struck by all of the beautiful churches in that area. Gorgeous architecture! I'm so glad To see these beautiful preservations from the past
Lovely presentation... Lovely... "The wisdom in raising up such buildings is that at a given hour, the people should know it is time to meet, and all should gather together, and, harmoniously attuned one to another, engage in prayer; with the result that out of this coming together, unity and affection shall grow and flourish in the human heart. ~ Baha'i Quote
So beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Yrs have gone by since this was filmed and the lose of faith and raising of children in Christian lives has destroyed this country. Each generation following this filming has been so different and less following of one's before them. The churches are so beautiful. Such a terrible loss.
are these churches listed here listed in the order that they appear?? please let me know, and if not, could they be listed that way?? do you have pictures of these churches individually ??
Very nice put together documentary. I notice most are Lutheran. I'm looking for Church of Christ in that area. Would love to know. TY in advance.
The list of CHURCHES ,location and "time" on video is necessary THANK YOU .IN COMMENTS SECTION Table of contents and where found
A very fine program, but too bad the editor didn't stop and actually do his/her job. Several churches going by the same name?? WHich is which? Particularly love that UCC building with the Catholic altar.
God doesn't dwell in a temple built by hands, but in the hearts of men, but some interesting buildings where "the church" meets.

I suppose you're correct and I am a very blunt person always have been, and while every bit of what I said is true and I think deserved but I will remove that post.
Suffice it to say I think that its one pitiful way to find peace, when it has brought everything but that to so many.

Corporate Farming is a big factor in the depopulation of rural America People are still building a house in the country but only having a child or two And going to church in a larger community A shame but it's happening
