    Great video. Just got my driveway done and waiting to really see my results. I'm happy with it so far.

    I have been paving driveways for 21 years . If u had a top coat of blacktop, 2" layed over . That cracking is most likely reflective cracking. Going over existing cracks. They pop through the exact same pattern. Don't believe me. Peel it up! If it was a fresh driveway and you have those cracks, it is too thin or a base issue. Don't believe me. Peel it up. It takes 18 months for asphalt to fully cure. Should wait 2 years before sealing it in every two to four. After that. It's cosmetic. Grab some ortho weed be gone , hook it up to the hose and spray the whole driveway. It is porous and will kill the weeds in the blacktop and on the edge of the driveway. I would just take your not concerning things a little more concerning.

      40+ years for me and nothing you said here is true.
      Don’t believe me, peel it up?

    Weed problem is lack of compaction. Cracking on the edges looks like they over paved the base. Sealcoating here in Minnesota usually starts when the color of the rock in the mix is starting to show through(about 5 years). Overall it looks good. Normal minor problems and remember it's just rocks and oil. Power steering marks will be worse in the summer when it's hot.

      What do you mean over paved the base?

    Nice to see someone gets as stoked on new asphalt aroma as I do. I remember following the paving vehicles in my neighborhood as a kid, intoxicated on that new pavement smell.

    I have a paving co in huntsville alabama, the driveway looks good, but the sealcoat looked like it was watered down, see how it looked grayish instead of black. For the tire scrub, go to low’s or home depo and get your self a couple buckets of asphalt sealer, and a broom, pour it out and sweep it on thick in the turnaround , that will help with the scrubing, or just get a better co to sealcoat it with thicker sealer, not water.. ase for the vegetation, dont pull the grass out, you will loosen the asphalt and put a hole in it, use a weed killer, when you cut the grass, blow it away from the driveway, that will help stop grass seed from the lawn settling into the serfice and voids in the pavement. Good luck on your investment.

    That held up pretty well Frank. Especially considering the below minus temperatures in your area! And I thought this was way more expensive than you paid for it. Dutch regards, Nico.

  • @debsigt8958
    @debsigt8958 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    From my experience especially if your living in an area that rains and vegetation and I know what im about to say is expensive you should have made a cement border for the asphalt or cinder blocks or whatever you can use to make a border that will contain the asphalt in its shape

    I have paved thousands of driveways . It looks like that company did a pretty good job the only thing. People don’t understand these days. A lot of the asphalt is recycled meaning is just ground up put in a big heater tumbled around and laid back down on the driveway. They are supposed to put adequate tar back in, but they don’t ever back in the 80s we used to get asphalt. It was shiny and black with lots of tar in it. Now you lay it down and it’s charcoal gray meaning no tar basically you’re getting a 20 year old Driveway. The tar evaporates out of the asphalt then they grind it up and reheat it. if you can always ask for virgin asphalt and get the weight slips, everyone says they’re putting down this many tons and this many inches !!!!

  • @paulsantos7929
    @paulsantos7929 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dude ! It’s a asphalt driveway put together with Tar sand and Liquid asphalt made in a rock quarry. It’s not concrete swirled in spread it’s not a granite countertop in your kitchen. Just use it and enjoy a smooth driveway you can’t pick every little infection with tar. To fussy over tar

    If you would have put a oil based penetrating sealer on it instead of the water based sealer would have been a lot better for the pavement

    Also reading the comments.. Do people just go on youtube with the mission "I'm going to search out videos to find, critique and give my input on so I feel like I'm an expert."?? They always start with some dumb qualification like "I used to be married to an asphalt driveway so I'm speaking from experience when I tell you to INSERTBADADVICEHERE"

    You shouldn't be having Vegetation grow along your edges this soon. Just another sign that they paved this improperly and far too thin.

    I've been told that if you use clean construction or play sand and toss it in area where delivery drivers turn around, it acts as ball bearings almost and does not transfer as much wear n tear to your pavement. Couple questions for you.. 1. How thick of a asphalt did you go with? 2. Are you in western NC? sure looks like NC!

      same issue here,i just threw down play sand and used a broom to fill in-i have a blacktop driveway...same age as yours...guess there is asphalt and blacktop-two different mixes-anyway....i am going with the sand ,also my edges are falling apart-using hot rubber pli-stix and an asphalt tape i found online for that-so far it looks good...time will tell,anyone have any info on sealers-i guess coal tar is gone these days? should have gone concrete i guess
