Time for a case knife review. I've transitioned into carrying the kickstart trapperlock on a regular basis just because it does have a locking blade for a self defense scenario
See the thing is with this knife is when you use this knife in self-defense, if you’re properly trained(in reverse grip) the button lock doesn’t get in the way. Not only that but in a reverse grip your strikes work against the knife’s locking mechanism failing and folding on your own fingers. Wether you’re slashing or stabbing. Why you should always, ALWAYS with any folding knives, no matter the locking mechanism, deploy and/switch to a reverse grip to defend yourself. With a folding knife, always use a reverse grip. Think of using a simple slip-joint knife and not holding it in a reverse grip in a defensive manner.
You gotta review some Midgard messers. Super limited but available. They’ve basically maxed out the size for an EDC. Think camping/folder/chopper. Not all of them are huge but the ones that are are insane
Spyderco Tenacious is my EDC for a good 8 years or more. I use it to the point where the black finish on the blade is wearing off (Black/Black iteration). Thank you TNP for such an outstanding recommendation all those years ago. I use it hard for automotive work, electrical, opening packages and just about anything else I can find the opportunity for.
I've got several variations of the Begleiter XL from exclusive drops from WMK. Marbled carbon fiber, red micarta and a white G10 "storm trooper" colorway. Absolutely amazing blades. The regular Begleiter is also in button lock as well now and it's fantastic for EDC.

The other day Amazon recommend the Hold out XL and I liked it and almost bought it. Then realized I’ve owned that knife for years and I don’t know where it is. Then I realized I have about a dozen more that I don’t know where they are either. Knife Guy Problems 🤷🏼♂️
Bought that exact knife on the intro for $47 during the holidays last year. It’s such a great EDC when you need a light duty knife that’s thin in your pocket. 154cm steel loves my worksharp field sharpener. So easy to sharpen.

My EDC...folding knife, today Spyderco Shaman, Android phone which is communications, flashlight and watch replacement, 6foot piece of chained paracord. 3 things...The things I can do with this lean EDC are amazing, less is more. The real tool is my brain.
I like mine but the clip ripped off and stripped the tiny holes. That aspect is cheap. Other than that I liked it. For cheap knives I suggest the Keyshawn/Emerson blades for like 35-50 bucks. MUCH better knife
I've been carrying fixed blades lately. The fixed Beglieter is in the rotation. No chance of a fixed blade folding on your fingers in a heavy use situation.
My brother has this knife, really impressed by it, it is impressive for the price and all. Button locks are not tactical, from my experience, a medium wack can make the lock fail.
What I need to be happy is if the safety fails, the blade must stop on my index finger rather than chopping it off. Like the kershaw skyline(best edc of all time. 2.4 ounces??). Looking for a proper predecessor because discontinued, still haven't found one...
You brought up the skyline literally right after I posted. I rely on you for this specifically, what replaces the skyline? 2 4 oz, won't cut off your fingers If the safety fails. Good belly. Sexy af. I don't have a replacement for Damascus skyline

The Vosteed Racoon is 100% the best button lock you can get under 65$ and crushes the Begliter witch I own and like ..they also now make the racoon with a crossbar lock if you don't want a button lock ..Vosteed is coming on super strong with last 10-15 knives nightshade mini also

I am a huge fan of Kizer, they are surprisingly high quality. Fit and finish, sharpness, even the Kydex sheath on my Cadox is perfect.
