- Hey guys, in this video, I shared the two major resources that I used that helped me pass my ANCC psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner board exam on the FIRST try. I use the purple book and the PMHNP Prep pocket that contains about 800 questions. both resources cost about $90 and did not have to spend over $500 on review courses. I have taken both the FNP & ACNP exams (ANCC). For FNP, I did the Fitzgerald 2-day online live review and felt it was worth every penny. I was well-prepared for boards and passed easily. Just follow the lectures with your workbook and everything you need to know is there. I did Barkley's 2-day online review for ACNP. I felt the material was a bit dry since it wasn't a live course where I could interact, like with Fitzgerald. However, the information was spot-on. Everything we covered was on ANCC.
I also highly recommend the Barkley's DRT practice exams. You get 2 attempts for the exam. Take the test cold, no prep. It will give you a print out of your weak & strong areas. Use that as a guide to study. Focus on your weak areas. No need to study what you already know! I felt this was extremely useful. When I took the DRT exam the 2nd time, I passed all categories. My board exams were a breeze after preparing this way.
A few days before the FNP, I watched quite a few Cohen Review videos on TH-cam. I also worked with a guy me and friends got referred to…I found her information to be helpful. I also recommend the TH-cam channel Dirty Medicine. His channel is geared towards USMLE test takers, but many of the concepts are the same. His mnemonics for remembering diabetes medications and anemias are fantastic!

Hi dear, I love your videos. Any resources to study for the psychopharmacology, pharmacology, and A&P class? Is there any other book on top of the resources provided by the college to study that can help with passing the classes? Thank you in advance

Hi Tiff, I went to university of Cincinnati. All online, you have to find your own preceptors though. 4 terms.
BTW, I didn't like the Barkley review. Fitzgerald was a better use of my money.

I’ve always believed AANP is not about studying, you need God’s grace to pass
Sometimes it doesn’t matter how hard you study you also need to pray to God for success
I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing the AANP test last month she passed and I failed 😣, I asked her how she did it , just found out she got her help from Mr James

Honestly, I focused more the questions I got wrong and readings the notes and Rationale and did as many questions as I could. I believe it was 800 of them. I hope this helps

Hey Robert, congratulations dear. I am not familiar with that review so I can't speak on it. I know each person is different, I took the Margaret Fitzgerald course for my FNP board and did not feel like it made a difference so I decided not to take any course for my PMHNP boards.
What school did you get your post masters degree with? How was your experience?

Hello. Which app is the PMHNP prep pocket to which you are referencing? There are two I am seeing "PMHNP-BC pocket prep" or "Nursing Pocket Prep"? I believe the app you initially downloaded is not named PMHNP prep pocket anymore. Thanks in advance.

I downloaded the PMHNP Prep pocket app, and for some reason, it is not working, I downloaded it and when I open it in my app it says to download again, but it doesn't take me to the actual questions. It also says that it lost support on March 31, 2021. I am a bit confused. Any help is appreciated!
Hey dear, I believe they made some changes to the app, it looks different. I was able to log in to mines, the new name "Nursing Pocket prep " it has the red cross logo/sign on it. I try to look for contact info for the app but was unsuccessful. I hope this help

Do you know any University offer an affordable tuition for DNP and they accept credits? I regret that I made mistake by taking DNP with Aspen University which is just a scam DNP program. They always made students to repeat classes while they already got an "A" for their class.
Unfortunately, majority of these schools only care about making money at the expense of the students. I will first start by looking at DNP schools that are in your state if possible, which is what I did for my DNP FNP. for my postmaster certification, I just did a Google search on affordable school, i look at their coricullum and also utilize facebook group and that lead me to Liberty university. It was the cheapest when compared to Rigis college and Maryville university. I am sorry that this is happening.
Check out nurse practitioner new grads and students facebook group. They are very helpful.
