Why do I block out the Mini-Map with annotations for Sub battle replays?
I block it out because the Mini-Map gives away who sent in the battle replay. And in most cases whoever sends in the battle replay wins the battle. So I block it to keep it a surprise :D

Awesome video! Very enjoyable. You should start another Tug-of-War-esque series but make it more catered to an actual third age battle (Gondor vs mordor, wood-elves vs mirkwood, Hobbits vs Dunland, etc). like keep all the tug of war rules but use actual settlements and have a real progression (like the final battle would be fought in the traditional capital) but there would be more than three settlements and there would be more strategy. Also a Lothlorien and Thranduil''s Elves (allied) against a Mirkwood (and maybe orcs of the misties) group would be a really cool series.
But regardless you're doing great and keep up the third age
I do love these battles where the defending forces are a group you really like but they don't give up without a fight and are dead till the last man, even the captured units would probably be defiant till the end when they are executed. really makes me think of a 300 spartans situation
Wow Apollo, your channel has grown so much! I don't know if you remember me, but I've been around since you had 350 subscribers. This is my favorites TH-cam channel. I'm sorry I haven't been watching lately, but I'm in high school now and I'm working hard to be valedictorian in my massive 600 people class. I'm also involved in 2 sports(cross country and swimming) so I have had very little time to do much other stuff. It's great to see to you channel again and make the Knights of Apollo ride to glory!

when you where on the hill at 21:57 it looked like the ZULU war strategy with the Bulls head then the horns at either side and reserves / the body at the back waiting. but if you had the catapult it would have been a victory...well at least the vid was extraordinary.

Hi Pixelated, there is a design error of Battle Troll. The battle trolls are mistakenly assigned TWO primary armours, where all other units only have ONE primary armour, which makes it the MOST cost efficient units in the entire game. I will send you an Email with revised stats.

Pikes in TATW are fickle beasts btw. Badasses like the Guards of Osgiliath can hold a chokepoint all year if they are set up right. They aren't a reactionary force though, if they don't get a good 5 seconds to line up before the enemy hits them, they just don't get work done.

Maybe you should have held one Pelagir marine unit in reserve in anticipation of the trolls. Their Jav volleys wreck all trolls.

Orthanc (or-thanc as in than, not thank, also the 'th' sound should be pronounced like thigh, not this) is the black tower at the center of the Ring of Isengard. That tower isn't called Isengard, the forests and walls beyond are called Isengard. The wall is called the Ring of Isengard. If this is allowed, I would like to tell some history about this military 'outpost' of Gondor (well, if this 'outpost' held a fucking Palantir, then clearly it isn't an outpost)
Angrenost was built somewhere in between the dates of II 3320 to II 3429. It held a Palantir, the Orthanc-stone, which Saruman used to challenge and eventually become corrupted by Sauron. Angrenost lead a pretty uneventful life until the Great Plague, which killed half of Northwestern Middle-earth's population. The northern province of Gondor, Calenardhon, was devastated, and many of it's folk removed to the south. As there was a growing threat in the East, the Sea-kings of Gondor diverted their attention to the east, to the fortresses along the western side of the Anduin, and they strengthened them. In III 1851, this growing threat, the Wainriders, appeared, and attacked the already weakened kingdoms of the Northmen. They were a conglomeration of tribes better armed and equipped than any other Easterling horde Gondor had encountered. They rode in great wagons (or wains) and chariots, from which they got their name. They were finally defeated in the 20th century of the Third Age, after the loss of two Kings (Narmacil II and Ondoher) and four Princes (Prince Faramir son of Ondoher, Prince Adrahil of Belfalas, Prince Artamir son of Ondoher, and Prince Minohtar, the cousin of Princes Artamir and Faramir) After a short while, Angrenost was neglected, and the Keys of Orthanc were taken to Minas Tirith. Angrenost was now occupied by a hereditary Gondorian lord, and the garrison were Men not of full Numenorean race. In III 2510, an Easterling tribe called the Balchoth (this was what the Gondorians called them. Balchoth consisted of the Westron word balc, meaning horrible, and hoth, Sindarin for horde), who were related to the Wainriders, attacked the almost abandoned province of Calenardhon. The fortresses along the Anduin fell, and an army coming from the South was pushed back by the Balchoth to the Field of Celebrant, and an army of orcs from the Misty Mountains pushed them to the River Celebrant. Steward Cirion sent many messengers to the Eotheod, the survivors and those who were not enslaved by the onslaught that was brought upon the kingdoms of the Northmen by the Wainriders. Their lord Eorl 'the Young' came to the aid of the army of Gondor with 7,000 riders and a few hundred horse archers. The Balchoth and the Orcs were caught with their pants down. The wagons of the Balchoth were no match to the great cavalry of the North. The Eotheod hunted down the Balchoth across the plains of Calenardhon. The Steward Cirion awarded the Eotheod with the province of Calenardhon, as Gondor needed a strong ally in the north to protect their backs from the Easterlings while they diverted their attention to the Men of the Harad and the Corsairs of Umbar. The Eotheod called their kingdom the Riddermark or the Mark, but Cirion's son Hallas gave it it's name in foreign lands, and what we know it as: Rohan. Eorl then became the first King of Rohan, and the Rohirrim called themselves the Eorlingas, the people of Eorl. The people of Rohan called Angrenost 'Isengard'. Now, Angrenost was now an isolated outpost, and Angrenost soon ceased contact with Gondor. As the province of Calenardhon was already occupied by non-Gondorians, called by the Rohirrim as the Dunlendings, the Rohirrim then decided to throw them back across the River Angren (or Isen as it is called by the Rohirrim) and they made mortal enemies with the men of Dunland. During the late 27th to early 28th centuries, the hereditary lords of Angrenost died out, and they were replaced by a local half-breed family friendly to the Dunlendings, and they soon raided the Westfold and attacked the horse herds there. King Deor of Rohan then sent a force to deal with them, and they pushed them back again across the Angren. When Deor sent messengers to Angrenost, they were only met by arrows. The fortress of Angrenost could not be taken because of it's mighty, high and thick walls and strong gates. Deor then sent word to Steward Egalmoth of Gondor to send aid against the Dunlendings, but Egalmoth was preoccupied by the Haradrim. Deor abandoned the siege, and left a great force of Riders in Westfold to protect against the Dunlending raids. In III 2754, Deor's grandson, Helm, was confronted by Lord Freca. He claimed to be a descendant of King Freawine of Rohan, though he had a Dunlending blood. He grew rich and powerful, and he had his stronghold at the source of the River Adorn, and held wide lands on either side of the river. He did not pay heed to the King, and he came to the King's councils whenever it pleased him. During one of the councils that occurred on III 2754, he came with a great number of men, and Return of the King, appendix A, p.381'he asked the hand of Helm's daughter for his son Wulf. But Helm said: "You have grown big since you were last here; but it is mostly fat, I guess"; and men laughed at that, for Freca was wide at the belt. Then Freca fell in a rage and reviled the king, and said this at the last: "Old kings that refuse a proffered staff may fall on their knees." Helm answered: "Come! The marriage of your son is a trifle. Let Helm and Freca deal with it later. Meanwhile the king and his council have matters of moment to consider." When the council was over, Helm stood up and laid his great hand on Freca's shoulder, saying: "The king does not permit brawls in his house, but men are freer outside"; and he forced Freca to walk before him out from Edoras into the field. To Freca's men that came up he said: Be off! We need no hearers. We are going to speak of a private matter alone. Go and talk to my men!" And they looked and saw that the king's men and his friends far outnumbered them, and they drew back."Now, Dunlending," said the king, "you have only Helm to deal with, alone and unarmed. But you have said much already, and it is my turn to speak. Freca, your folly has grown with your belly. You talk of a staff! If Helm dislikes a crooked staff that is thrust on him, he breaks it. So!" With that he smote Freca such a blow with his fist, that he fell back stunned, and died soon after.Helm then proclaimed Freca's son and near kin the king's enemies; and they fled, for at once Helm sent many men riding to the west-marches.'And four years later, Gondor was attacked by three great fleets long prepared in Umbar and the Harad, and evil befell Rohan as well. The Easterlings again attacked, and the Dunlendings seeing their chance, poured out of Angrenost and Dunland, and soon the Rohirrim learned that Wulf was their leader. The Dunlendings were reinforced by the enemies of Gondor in the Harad, who landed on the mouths of the Rivers Lefnui and Angren. Gondor could send no help. Helm was defeated at the Fords of Isen (Angren) and was pushed back to the Hornburg. The Dunlendings then attacked Edoras, and took it. Helm's elder son Haleth was slain defending the doors of Meduseld, the Golden Hall. Wulf then sat on the throne and called himself king. The Long Winter then began, and Rohan lay under snow for five months. Both sides suffered grievously in the snow, and in the dearth after. Helm and his younger son Hama died, and Helm's nephew Frealaf succeeded him. The Dunlendings were driven out of Angrenost. In the feast at Frealaf's crowning, the White Wizard appeared, and gave many gifts to the Rohirrim. Steward Beren of Gondor then allowed Saruman to live in Angrenost, and gave him the Keys to Orthanc. He was tasked to be the protector from the Dunlendings, and both Rohan and Gondor were happy to have such a powerful ally. Then, in III 2953, Saruman declared himself as the Lord of Isengard, and began supporting the Dunlendings and sets spies on Gandalf. He begins building an army. After revealing himself as an 'ally' of Sauron, he then cuts down all the trees inside the Ring of Isengard and the plains beyond. After the fall of Isengard to the Ents, they tear down the Ring of Isengard, and fill in the pits, and they fill the plains surrounding Orthanc with abundant amounts of trees and plants, and the fortress of Angrenost then becomes the Treegarth of Orthanc.

hahaahah... a long time ago you had a siege battle on the same map, and defender forgot his catapult out there too!
is this the destiny, the mystery of this map? will it continue to let players forget their catapults? how much brave catapult cremen will loose their lives till this evil map is satisfied? we will never know.

Bruh, let's get some variety in these TATW battles. Too much Gondor and Mordor
For TWTA battle, the evil fractions usually win, cheap decent inf, OP units (Troll, Spiders, elephants...). Light side don't stand much of a chance with even money. Not much of a battle when they are lower money😒
My games sometimes randomly tab out as well, always twice too in a short interval. Let me know if you get a fix for it because i have no idea what's causing it...
