good video as always. another trick is to wind some insulated wire around your drill bit to create a heap of coils then touch each end of the wire on a battery a few times and it will magnetise the drill bit and hold filings, (but will need to continuously wipe them off to prevent too many filings for the bit to hold), we used to do this to magnetise screw drivers also. That's OK, it would be a good idea to check the diff, Transfer and transmission fluids to make sure there is no water in them and like you said extend the breathers.

I reckon the supplied plastic/steel push in fittings will fail pretty quickly with the up & down movement of the diffs and stiff hose in them. I used the factory diff hose barbs, pushed some 1/4" clear nylon reinforced hose over it & pushed the breather hose inside the nylon hose, tight fit & much stronger & not affected by flex or use. Same treatment on the transfer & gearbox breather barbs.

Hi Nick, I extended my front and rear diff breathers today but for the life of me couldn't locate the auto gearbox breather while lying under the car. Any tips on how to locate it as I don't want to pull any hose out on top of the auto trans that I can't see. Thank you .
@martymonsterfishing the auto trans breather sits right ontop of the bell housing. It's a small rubber hose that goes into a little box. You just grab it as close to the box as possible and pull down and it will pop out.
Hi Nick, thanks for the video. With the breather for the transmission you mention the breather is on the right hand side, that depends if you are looking at the car or sitting in the driver's seat. Just to clarify is it on the driver's or passengers side of the transmission? I put an ARB breather on last year and only ran a line for the rear diff only, as trying to work out the where other ones were went into the too hard basket. Thanks for you video. Cheers
I have a 2008 dmax, correct me if I am wrong, its the rear diff, front diff, then the front diff actuator on the left i see also has a fitting to slip a pipe on, though mine doesn’t have a pipe.. and then the transfer case, which i need to see still where the breather is situated.. So 4 in total??

Great video's and information on the mux . Do you know how to adjust the low and high beam lights? as my low beam does not shine very far on my 2019 mux
Thanks Judi, if you look on the headlight there will be 2 white plastic philips head screws that go onto a little adjustment wheel. You just need to find a wall and aim your headlights onto it and adjust the toggle wheel that moves the beam up. Hope that helps 😊
Hay nick great video but can't seem to find the the gearbox and transfer case breathes on the manual gearbox there is two hoses just behind the gear stick one is about 20cm long comes out then go's back in and then the other comes out next to it then go's back in at the back of the transfer case next to the tail shaft any thoughts
@@oldmate528 no didn't find it asked some mechanics they said they have some sensors on them so i didn't worry about it and haven't had any problems with it yet

Hi Nick, thanks for the video, question was the transmission breather attached to a white plastic part with the breather part coming out of the top middle part? Looks like it can be the only soft rubber pipe out of the top. Thanks
The rubber breather hose goes up into the plastic breather cap on the back of the bell housing. You just pull down on the rubber hose to pop it out of the breather cap.
It should be fine for short periods of time, because the bonnet seal will protect them from getting water on them from around the windscreen. If you do get stuck in the water for a long time the engine bay will fill with water and they may still get water in them. If you are in the water stuck for a long time up to that height you are going to have alot bigger issues to deal with then water in the drive train.
@@blakemorehouse2191 To do the whole job front diff, transfer, rear diff, gearbox you actually need 6 port kit or 4 port with 2 y fittings. 6 connections all up.

Yeah thought so I have a 2016 Colorado 7 and I can't seem find any videos of people doing mods like this to them, this video helped heaps and so did your one about the snorkel thanks ✌

never do this always put hose and electrical in split tube to prevent rubbing or chaffing that could end up causing damage to the lines if unsure use a qualified mechanic not a backyard mechanic

That's a good question. I haven't ever checked where the breather is on the mu-x tank. Usually, they are up reasonably high.

8:20 secs , how did you get the breather line free to connect the extended hose to it ?
You need to grab the rubber breather hose as high as you can and pull down on It and It will pop off the push fitting in the gearbox breather. 😊

It's on the 6 speed auto with the 3.0l turbo diesel engine.

yep there is 2 breather lines that go into the cavity between the gearbox and transfer case. You have to extend the 2 lines.

How did you disconnect the transmission breather? The line on my DMAX is running into a small white plastic box on top of the transmission??
Just grab the rubber hose going into the box and yank it down and it should pop out 👍

If it is a 3.0L Turbo diesel with the 6 speed automatic transmission then it should be in the same spot on the back of the bell housing.

Yep 50mm lift installed. Not really concerned with it as the angle isnt bad at all. 😊
